I think a lot of people are going to be wearing Fighting Sioux apparel for years to come even after a new nickname is adopted. Eventually though, everyone will begin to buy into the new nickname and you'll begin to see less and less Fighting Sioux stuff as the years go by. I'll continue to wear my Fighting Sioux stuff but I'm still a supporter of UND so if/when they adopt a new nickname, I'll buy new shirts, sweaters, and jerseys.

One game of course!

It is sad to see that people aren't going to get a chance to let their opinions be heard at Standing Rock. If a vote happens and it turns out that the majority of Standing Rock don't support the nickname, I'd be more fine with moving on and having the nickname replaced. Instead we have these tribal leaders continually postponing meetings so there will be no progress in the matter... I can only imagine how deeply corrupt the tribal governing body is. Sorry, just the bitterness speaking.

Watching the Penguins get eliminated from the playoffs = Priceless. My friend will be crying along with Sid the Kid.

And lets properly open those new arenas with style by sweeping the games in them. Go Sioux!!

Well luckily the Frozen Four is in St. Paul next season...would be a good year for the Sioux to make it that far...

All I gotta say this years National Tournament was just lame. A lot of the games weren't even competitive. The Frozen Four games were not even close to being competitive. Yikes.

So maybe the WCHA was actually overrated this year? Eastern schools have just been dominating. or we could just go with the easy excuse of "WCHA teams play in a very hard conference and so come National Tournament, we're banged up and tired."

Silver lining is at least Wisconsin won't be tied with us in the # of National Titles. (knock on wood) Downside is another year where a WCHA team hasn't won the title and plus it's BC....

Great/Classy post. I'm in a state of disbelief/shock. Really hasn't sunk in yet that UND athletic teams will no longer go by Fighting Sioux. And it is what can be expected from some Bison fans. I'm hoping the people that are enjoying it there are in the minority...

Maybe Fienhage is playing World of Warcraft a little too much? That game consumes your life.

If we don't get into the NCAA Tournament next season or are one and done again. Then I think it is fair to start questioning Hakstol. Next years team looks very special on paper, hopefully it'll be the same on the ice. Right now: In Hakstol, I still trust.

No Team of Destiny name calling though.

I think most people are assuming that because he'll most likely see limited ice time next season as a Junior(he's a 3rd round draft pick). Especially if Genoway stays and with the addition of Forbort. Your looking at: Genoway LaPoint Marto Blood MacWilliam Gleason Forbort Fienhage Hill Coaches are gonna have to make some tough decisions next season even if Genoway stays or leaves.

I have to agree. I'm certainly disappointed with the loss since UND didn't play Sioux hockey until the 3rd period but UND really exceeded my overall expectations for the season. It's been 4 great years of having VandeVelde, Zajac, and Genoway(but if he'd like to stay that'd be great too).

Yeah, when I saw he did that I was like "what the !@#$ is he doing!?" Really dumb move. Hopefully he'll redeem himself And Gregoire's cross-check that negated a 5x3 PP...dunno what happened there. He rarely takes penalties. Especially one like that.
