  1. Cripes! They average 240" of snow per year in Houghton. They won't even notice this.
  2. I believe the Sioux can go far, but I also believe they can be one and done. While the Sioux can be deep, they are also somewhat banged up right now and cannot afford to lose any more players to injury. They also need to be firing on all cylinders to succeed. In terms of balance there are only 3 teams out there with more 20 point players than the Sioux, ND, BU, and DU. Michigan's scoring is in a relatively few players so they should be easier to shut down if you have a good solid shut down line. ND has been playing most of the last part of the season without Ryan Thang. He is a big player for them and will help when he is back. The same with Tyler Bozak and DU. That is assuming they make it back before the end of the season. The Sioux have shown the ability to score big time against top notch goalies. They have also shown that they can be susceptible on the PP and shut down by a goalie. I believe that the Sioux will be successful against teams that can't roll four solid lines and have solid goaltending.
  3. This better be a family thing, because friends don't let friends pick friends who don't follow Sioux hockey!
  4. I agree. I know we found him hiding out at State Street Brats in Madison at the regional last year.
  5. Man, that is an experience you don't want but I do understand that you can't get a full appreciation until you do.
  6. Right next to the personal ads section as incentives.
  7. It is going to depend totally upon the MN goaltending. If Kangas gives up a soft goal right off the bat on Friday, look for STC to have some confidence, and Kangas to do a Frazee mind meld. Should that happen, STC could pull the upset, and it wouldn't be that big of an upset. Yes they lost at MSUM this weekend, but that is a tough rat hole in which to play. Ask MN and WI and UND. But, if Kangas plays like he did Saturday night, nothing spectacular but just basic goaltending, UM will win. Remember, STC hung a 6-spot on UM last time they played. Westlostsky (Spelling intentional) just happened to give up an 8-spot that night.
  8. NDH - Sorry that we won't see you there.
  9. I received the following response from UW regarding my email about what a number of us thought was the UW announcer doing mock Indian chants during a commercial break. I am very glad to hear that what we heard was something else. End of story.
  10. It must be a tradition out of Fargo. A number of years ago a Fargo team (I don't remember which one) trashed the locker room after a loss to Fergus Falls.
  11. Sorry, but you are wrong. This is the very reason we have a fight to keep the nickname. This is the type of situation that needs to be confronted. I sent the following email to UW.
  12. If so, that needs to be brought to the attention of UND, and they need to file a complaint with UW.
  13. Gophers up 2-0
  14. Gophers up 1-0 End of 1st.
  15. Gophers with a two-man advantage and Stoa takes a X-Checking penalty.
  16. Kangas rips off his facemask to stop play when MTU is on the power play, and got away with it. MTU looking better than they did last night, but still trailing on the scoreboard. Should have been delay of game penalty. The second time a goalie mask comes off in a game it is supposed to be an automatic penalty but not always called.
  17. Gophers up 1-0. Stoa off a rebound. Shack playing his first game since the Mankato incident.
  18. ok, maybe not.
  19. Not a problem. Give the kid a credit card and join us for fun.
  20. And dive, that they do!
  21. Bob, MN is now smoke free so it won't be smoky. It is a supper club type place, but fine for kids during the day. They typically seat us in a separate area (not a separate room) off to the side from the main bar. There are other patrons usually arriving to watch some of the NCAA basketball tournament on the big screen. Your little one should be fine as long as Sioux-cia doesn't overwhelm him with affection.
  22. Presumably this excludes anyone living in Angoon, AK. I think Sioux-cia keeps moving to all of these far away places just so she can win the prize for traveling the furthest distance.
  23. After traveling to CC in early November and seeing this Sioux team simply outskate and outplay CC in the Friday night game, I knew they had the ability. The question was whether they could play at that level consistently. I remember the coaches in November saying this team was close, and they were right. Congratulations Sioux team on a great season.
  24. Sorry about that MafiaMan. Just wanted to let folks know that this is a class act (not saying what kind of class though). NDH, Siouxmama, YaneA, and others who have attended in the past - sign up and join in the fun. We've even had a Gopher fan or two join us, so we are non-discriminatory. Mrs. Siouxman and I are at the Radisson over by the MOA, so if someone needs a ride let us know. As for the welcome, either one works but Fighting Sioux Hockey Fans seems less restrictive.
  25. Mr. and Mrs. Siouxman will be there. We have certainly enjoyed these the last couple of years. A good time to meet and talk with other SiouxSports personalities. And please remind them to put us up on their marquee like they promised last year. Calling Sioux-cia - Here is your invite. For those who haven't participated in the past, this is a good time.
