  1. Central looked good to me! I think Fargo South is in trouble tomorrow, because they sure didn't impress me today! DL made South look like they belong in the West.

    USHL Draft

Maybe coach figured he needed a little more seasoning? Good Jake Marto....he'll be an asset to the league!

    Walski

That's him! Sounds like he's been playing well for the Bobcats! If anyone does get any info on this, please post it here...I was wondering who they were going to pick up as a goalie....
  4. What playoff's are you watching?
  5. Can someone explain why this isn't discrimination to have our logo in B&W, when all others are in color......I thought this issue had run the mill and was cleared up?
  6. http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/mhocke...RELEASE_ID=2406 Check out the awesome picture on the link above! I hope it works, as it's a nice picture in preparation of what Denver will see many times tonight! GO SIOUX!
  7. Without the help of the ref's, DU wouldn't have made it out of the Regional bracket........Sioux are due and will win tonight!
  8. Doesn't matter......whoever wrote it obviously knows hockey
  9. Glad to hear that Massen will be back!
  10. I think they got what they needed....Beat by a team that is less than stellar this year! Although I don't know as much as I think I do about hockey, I think the best thing that came out of Saturday's game was McMahon showing what he's made of! Outside of that, I saw disorganization and lack of precision (which, we as Sioux fans are used to). Most of the things listed, any team in the Nation could use! However, it's hard to rate what a team needs more after a game like Saturday night! Thinking back to the Maine series, I remember effort throughout, but after recalling Saturday night (which is hard to choke down), I didn't see too many things that were working well! I'd have to say that the reffing was less than consistent, but either way, this team needs to realize that fast/physical/smart play pays off in the end. Didn't see any of that on Saturday night! I couldn't do better, but I KNOW they can! It's early, and sometimes a good wake-up call like this is what propels excellence! Look forward to the next home series (won't look back for quite some time)....Saturday repressed!
  11. Coach needs to hold practice on Friday nights after the game......team looked like they were shaking off the bottle flu! I haven't seen passing like that since I watched my nephew's first mite game! I think this is going to be an ebb and flow year.....unless this team can pick up the idealogy of playing Friday and Saturday night with drive and dedication. Someone may be able to remind me, but I don't ever remember a series when the Saturday night game looked like Canisus vs. Avalanche! I wanted to say the goaltending was less than stellar, but __ to 0 shows that it could have been 30 points scored by Minnesota with no difference.....no offense! I'm still optimistic, as the season is long! However, and I hope I hold the attitude of the team, this should be a good wake-up call to reference prior to future games......Could be a long season at this rate otherwise! Sioux still Rock, Gophers GOT LUCKY that the Sioux decided to leave the heart in the locker room! Although it's hard to say, Briggs came up big when he needed to! Some of the saves were big, and this builds confidence for the team. GO SIOUX
  12. Sioux Sweep......I think Minnesota will score 3 goals on the weekend. This will be a good chance for UND to build confidence and momentum before next weekend's trip. Actually, I feel sorry for the Gopher's.....I think the Sioux have something to prove this weekend, and being the first home series, they're going to do just that! That's what I think anyway
  13. Any more details on what time and where?
  14. I've played bubble hockey for years, and never had a puck leave the game. Perhaps the REA could install a huge bubble over the entire arena. Of course, this would cut down on souvenirs for the kids a bit.....
  15. If I was the coach of this team (which I am not, and have no ability whatsoever), I would keep all 4 goalies....simply because this is the point of all discussion...and has been for several years. All pro teams have a practice squad and a rotating roster. I believe, on a team like the Sioux, they need that extra man to push the others over the top. I also believe that this should be discussed at the top of the off-season, to make these guys know that wearing the green doesn't come naturally....it comes by way of hard work/focus/discipline! I paid for my college, and will be for several years.....I don't claim to be a natural hockey player....or anything athletic for that matter.....but these kids have something to offer. Getting the ride is a part of their future. Use it or lose it.........and that is what has to be enforced!!!! Otherwise, we come, we play, we party, we lose! It's a mentality thing! I think any of the goalies on board have potential to take the team to the top, but they have to be handled as a potential with a load to tow! If not, they get to play the revolving game of switch-style goaltending, and they never learn what it takes to play D-1 hockey! Good luck to all of them, but hopefully after 2-3 NCAA championships they will know what it takes to succeed in the NHL!
  16. In my opinion, the Sioux have been spoiled with talent, but have been too deep! Many will say that you can never be too deep with talent, but look at the teams that have won the NCAA and NHL titles in the past 10 years. I like the underdogs, and I must say that many underdogs have won in every sport in the last 10 years of sports across the board (football, hockey, baseball...who cares.....and basketball...again, who cares).....but, the point I am making is, Brandon scored goals....Zach changed the face of UND hockey.....Karl stopped practically everything.....they're gone.....Sioux move on! Guys like Massen, Murray, Stafford, Jones, Marvin, Bina, Canady, Genoway....the list goes on......they'll become better players as a result of these losses. Plus, they'll get the playing time they deserve to prove their worth! As mentioned on this thread, Denver was as qualified to win the title as Minnesota half-way through the season, but they did it. I think we should all just wait it out and have patience and trust that our team will give us another good season! I hope Brandon has a good career at the next level, and that he has another Zach to feed him well. I think he will be a shining star with the right line!
  17. I agree with airmail.....Hak will get the job!
  18. I've heard talk from Kasey's relatives that he is giving UND a look. Jacob was a great find for SCSU, but I think Kasey is his own person. Kasey is around the area again, and I just saw him the other day, and he looks like he's doing his work in the "between time".....HS---College. I hope that UND will give him a look, but there is a lot of talent in ND/MN that gets overlooked by the local colleges. Over the years, many of the local players that have superceded High School hockey have went elsewhere. I guess "FIT" is the key to recruiting. As far as Kasey, I hope that he decides to come back, because he is a player.....not just a goalie. And if anyone here watched his play in High School, you will know what I'm getting at with that comment! Whatever way it has to happen, GO SIOUX!
  19. San Jose and Tampa Bay are the two toughest teams this year. I thought the Av's would have a chance, but much like other teams we all know( in every league), they are powerful offensively but lack in defense. I don't know if they could have won with Roy in net, although I've heard this a million times, simply because they have a lot of struggling offensive players, and many lines of defensemen that can't get find the chemistry. So, as I love to watch hockey and will never "hop" on the bandwagon, I will watch the rest of the year and honor the play of the winning team. I love the Av's, much like I whole heartedly watch the Vikings and the Sioux, but I watch and follow out of tradition and pride, not because I want to be the "ultimate fan". ONE THING I CAN SAY THIS YEAR IS THIS......THE NHL HAS MORE TALENTED PLAYERS NOW THAN I'VE EVER SEEN.....AND THE WAY THEY PLAY IS SECOND TO NONE!!! I still don't like (similar to the WCHA) the 'clutch and grab' style I've seen! I think the ref's need to have a psych-eval during the preseason to weed out the pushovers! That said......Good Luck to all fans of the NHL.....and let's hope the "lock-out" does nothing but good!
  20. The Av's are a playoff team, and will surprise many this year! I just hope their goaltending improves at the right time. They are deep with talent, so I hope they do well. It's just not the same cheering them on without Roy!
  21. Bingo, that was awesome PCM, that was what I wanted to say, I was just looking to put into the proper words. So I guess that you took the words right out of my mouth. I think what we are getting is a lot of cases of wishful thinking from opposing fans. UND is not the team it was last year, I would say that UND is way more talented and has better goaltending. I also wouldn't be so sure that Minnesota is going to be in the same regional bracket as the Sioux ala Collorado (another case of wishful thinking). I also wouldn't say that the Sioux fans/players would be quaking in their shoes even if they had to play the Gophers... Welcome to the thursday play in game if the Gophers don't sweep this weekend.
  22. It seems funny to me that the Gophers would struggle with two teams in the same weekend, but the Sioux somehow have consistency! I'm not (totally) anti-Gopher, and appreciate their depth and talent (like the Sioux year-to-year), but UNO doesn't seem to be the power team, and the Gophers are looking at a 3-peat....or are they??? I'm happy to watch Leopold and Vanek when they go big, but to hear my buddie's brag about the National Title in-hand before the season starts is not something I'm prepared to consume! I know that our team is said to have an easy schedule, (I've heard this all too often) but when MN struggles, it's nice to know I'm in GREEN!
  23. Now that I'm back reading this site, let me just say something. I've watched plenty of goalies in my day, and I'm not the greatest judge of performance. But, I want to point out that none of us watch the other 5 on the ice all of the time. Yes, we know when someone scores, or when one of the guys puts a pass "on the tape". So, the other 3-4 guys on the ice contributed with their hits, but no one "talks" about this over coffee. So, my point is....let's not judge our goalie on his first performance or watch his every move (this year), but instead, let's allow him to adjust to D-1 hockey and come into his own (after all, they are all adjusting to D-1 hockey.....yup, even Brandt). Yes, I watched the goalies flop to the corner's last year, and I agree with almost every opinion out there. However, I will not allow (in my own weak mind) anyone to jinx the tradition with goaltending speculation's and hopes. I hope that we can all remember that we're not dealing with 1980 D-1 hockey, and that the player(s) competing these days have been through several try-outs, hockey camps, sports acceleration clinic's, specialty teams.....shortcomings...... Let's give our goalies a chance to find their place on the ice for a few games this year (and drop our feelings about the season past) and STAND up and CHEER when that big save happens! Just pondering a fun season
  24. Prpich is fine! I saw the replay several times on TV, and the way I see it (over and over again), Prpich landed 4:1....there were only 11 clean punches thrown. Plus, he goes off smiling, and Peluso almost went down for the stretcher. I didn't see Prpich flailing to the ice! I saw a battered UMD player falling,,,,only to be rescued by the official's. But of course, it's going to be a long season.....and I have the Sioux blinders on........... I'll be watching the website once again.....and I'm glad it's SIOUX season!!!!!!!
  25. C'mon! UNH will beat the Gophers. I admit, they (Gophers) look great right now, but I think UNH will pull it out! IF the Gophers win, good for them! However, UNH remembers the Maine game, and have a desire to proceed to victory! 7>4, Sorry, I do apologize! No need to explain yourself, as after I read leifolson's post, I knew that I stood TOTALLY corrected! Just glad to be a part of the forum! GO SIOUX in 2004!
