  1. I started calling it the deer pre-pile after I took out a doe on I-29 south of Hillsboro on Labor Day evening. Just want to get the harvest started for all those hunters headed out this weekend.
  2. Sorry, the Saturday tickets are also gone.
  3. Friday tickets sold. Saturday tickets still available.
  4. I am not an attorney and don't play one on this board, but I believe that the AG and his office are working for the University and the State Board of Higher Education (the clients). I don't think a new AG would have much choice in the matter. The only thing he could possibly do is not work as hard on the case. That would be risky politically if it could be proven.
  5. How about this, even if a few people don't support the imagery of Native Americans on sports logos, it doesn't make it wrong.
  6. The guy went face first into the plexiglass. I called it checking from behind as it happened.
  7. Those are the teams that more people get jacked up over. Personally, I think that there have only been a few nights that the place has really rocked. The Regional was the best example. Most of the Minnesota games have been good. Some of the Wisconsin games and a few others. It's a big place, it swallows up sound and you have a lot of people that are not hard core hockey fans.
  8. I have 4 tickets available in Section 306 Row M for both nights of the St. Cloud series on Nov. 3 and 4. The tickets are on the aisle, at the top of the stairs. I have to work both nights and can't make the games. Asking $20 per ticket. The tickets are in Grand Forks and we can make arrangements to get them to you.
  9. Do we really need to have the same discussion about the difference in atmosphere between the new Ralph and the old Ralph? All of the arguments are in past threads. It will never be the same as the old Ralph. But if you have thoughts about ways to improve things, please bring them up.
  10. Thanks for catching that. I will correct the earlier post.
  11. I think you are talking about Johnny Holm. He is still performing. He had several gigs around the area this past summer, including the fair in Grand Forks.
  12. I can't believe people would do such a thing.
  13. ESPN.com has picked up the story.
  14. [url="http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=12442
  15. The lawsuit has been filed in District Court here in Grand Forks. I only caught part of the report on KNOX, but it sounds like 3 different counts. The NC$$ has approximately 20 days to respond.
  16. And fall technically lasts through December 21, so I would guess that we will hear something in the next 2 1/2 months.
  17. I doubt that the Athletic Department had much to do with this. According to the press release, the UND traffic office issued the notice. Athletics just passed on the information. The traffic office controls the parking lots. Parking has been an issue on campus for as long as I remember, that's why they are building the ramp. As someone else suggested, at least part of this decision is probably to help pay for upkeep on some lots that take a lot of abuse. Paying for parking is a fact of life in most places. Have you tried to find a free parking spot in the Twin Cities for an event? The Alerus Center is going to start charging for parking in 2007. I think that another part of big city living has arrived in Grand Forks.
  18. The parking issue is UND not the Ralph. All parking lots on campus will now enforce regular parking passes (S, H, A, G) until 10 PM. People without passes will be ticketed (I don't know about any towing). They talked about doing this last year in the middle of the season but decided to wait. People without parking passes will be allowed to park in the big lot by Memorial Stadium or the lot behind Tabula for $5 per game or $65 for the year. Lot attendants will have daily passes available and I think they will also have the season passes. Season passes are also available at Barnes and Noble. My guess is that the reason for this is 2 fold, to help pay the cost of the shuttles and to raise money (possibly for the move up??). Bottom line is that if you are a student, staff, faculty or have a regular campus parking pass you just use that. If you don't have one of those you will have to pay to use either of those lots and are not allowed to park in any other UND lot, including the Nursing school.
  19. I'm with you. I am in the last row of 306 also and don't know if I would trade for any other seats.
  20. This explains everything.
  21. A couple of posts later I had found the answer. It was actually to help both conferences because the WCHA was short of members at that time.
  22. I found the WCHA history of the link.
  23. There was an official scheduling link between the WCHA and Hockey East during the 80's and/or early 90's as was mentioned earlier. I would have to do a little research to get the exact years. IIRC it was because one of the leagues was having problems with their schedules. There was no trophy that I remember, but every WCHA team played 1 or 2 series against East teams each year.
  24. It will be difficult for the Vikings to do as well as the Twins since the Twins are currently only 1 game away from having the best record in baseball, and still have a chance to finish with the best record. The Vikings will not have one of the top 3 records in the NFL this year. The Vikings are in the process of changing the entire focus of the team. They are going from a team dependent on the offense to a team dependent on the defense. They also have changed most of the schemes and have many key new players, especially on the offensive line. The offensive line often takes the longest to get coordinated. Before the season started I expected it to take 4-6 games before they really get untracked. The running game should improve after that. Unless they have more major injury problems, I expect them to finish within a couple of games of .500, 1 way or the other. That may be enough to get them into the play-offs as a wild card because I don't see any great teams in the NFC this year. Although anything can happen in a football game, I would be surprised if they win more than 1 game in the play-offs this year, if that. Next year they should be a play-off team unless they have major injury problems.
  25. I disagree with several of your points, but this one is the most obvious. Both schools try to set up as many home games as possible, but they also have to play road games. So a UND-NDSU game would be one of the home games on the schedule for the home team and one of the road games on the schedule for the traveling team. The road team would probably get the normal fee for a road game in IAA (with much less expense) and the home team gets higher than normal revenues (premium ticket price and a full house). It is a win-win for both programs financially. It probably also pays more for television rights than any event in North Dakota. Your premise only holds if the visiting team is giving up a home game (or possibly a lucrative contract against a IA team). Since no team gets to play the entire season at home that part isn't likely. Wouldn't it be nice if one of your road games was only an hour drive instead of on the East or West Coast? And most of the IA teams schedule several years in advance so that can be worked around if either team has that opportunity. The biggest reason this series will resume is because it becomes one of the biggest events of the year in the region. Most people in the area want the schools to play. They fill stadiums and watch televisions. It creates a lot of interest and publicity for both schools. So even if it wasn't a big win financially (which it is), it still makes sense for them to play. And if the schools end up in the same football conference than the whole argument is moot.
