  1. No, I'm trusting Mr Faison to have all the answers since it's his job and he's been doing it for several years at the DI level.
  2. I think that I'd move the cheerleaders ahead of Virg. I'm pretty sure his college eligibility ended some time before his Social Security eligibility started.
  3. But we also have no idea what the other teams are going to do over the next 3 months. If UND has had the toughest schedule in the nation, it would figure that some of the other contenders will probably face a tougher schedule in the coming weeks. Then it depends on what they do against that tougher competition. Other teams wins and losses will affect their own PWR and UND's PWR. You can't isolate UND and just pay attention to what they are doing. What everyone else that is a TUC (or close to being a TUC) does also plays into the process. And that is waaaaaaay to many variables to get caught up in before Christmas.
  4. I don't know of anyone that thinks the rivalry is the same as it used to be. But there is still a rivalry, in spite of what some have claimed. That is obvious when more than 10,000 tickets are distributed for an otherwise meaningless game. And it has a chance to recover and become a big deal again. It just needs some time and regular play. The question is whether it can reach the same level with the schools in different conferences. But even if it doesn't quite reach the same level as before it will be a strong college rivalry as long as the schools compete against each other.
  5. A lot of schools have not released their football schedule for next year. I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the FCS schools have not released the schedule for next year. I'm sure that the AD has his reasons. He seems to have a decent idea on how to do his job, so he probably knows when he should release the schedule. The rumor is that he has a complete schedule done (he has announced that himself), but is trying to upgrade games. Maybe he is trying to replace an NAIA team with a Big Sky opponent. Would you rather that he give up trying to get a better schedule just so that you can find out right now who they are playing next year? Most people are done with football whenever their favorite team gets done. The rest follow the playoffs and don't worry about next year until after the playoffs get done. Announcing a football schedule right now does little or nothing for the program. Announcing a schedule right now does not bring a great deal of attention back to the program. Actually, announcing after the holiday season would get more attention. Relax and the answer will be released in all due time.
  6. UND has already played the toughest part of their schedule. Going forward they won't play as many TUCs, but they should be able to continue winning at a very good rate. That winning will help them maintain position, and may help if the other teams take turns picking each other off. I project that if they continue playing like they have the last month they will end up as a #1 seed or very close to it. The only way I see the Maine losses hurting is if it knocks them down to a #2. It is really early to get too involved with PWR because so much is going to happen to so many teams over the next 3 months.
  7. I looked at the Burggrafs and the Lundbohms. They came up about 3 points short of the 450 that we were looking at. I didn't find another brother set that would push Roseau over the top.
  8. I'm pretty sure that the enrollment topic has been discussed many times. What does it have to do with this topic?
  9. The Media Guide lists Chad with 22 points and Steve with 191. 22+191=213. 213>200. I said that between the 2 brothers they had more than 200 points, so that when combined with the Panzer brothers you had 2 sets of brothers that added up to more than 450 points. How is that not even close?
  10. Two problems with your scenario. You eliminate anyone that played before the late 60s or early 70s. College players in all sports were not allowed to play varsity sports as a freshman before that time, I don't think you will find any 4 year players during those years. And it isn't fair to compare pairs for low scoring if you include goalies. Lowest scoring pair of brothers I found were John and James Knauf. They each played 1 year during the middle 50s. James scored 1 goal, which was the only point that either scored.
  11. I think that you could find some in the single digits. All answers can be found in the Media Guide where they have the entire list of past players.
  12. Personally, I'm going to let Hak make the decision because he is closer to the situation and because he gets paid to make those decisions. My guess is that Hak wants Eidsness to get back in under actual game conditions. An exhibition game isn't the same as a league game. Eidsness needs to get back up to speed for real action, not practice. Also, maybe Hak thinks that Dell could use a break since he has played a bunch of games in a row.
  13. I believe it is Panzer/Johnson from Grand Forks and Hoogsteen/Johnson from Thunder Bay. My quick math says 585 points from the Grand Forks group and 576 from Thunder Bay. Any way you look at it, that is a lot of points. And I think it's safe to say that Johnson is the highest scoring last name in UND history.
  14. I would think that Steve and Chad Johnson would do that. I believe that they have well over 200 points between them.
  15. If people can move around in Mankato and if the teams can get to the arena then they will probably play the game.
  16. We don't know what he would have done. He could have ended up at UND anyway, or he could have gone another direction. I'm also guessing that he made his final decision to attend school at UND based on more than just the nickname and logo; like having a great hockey program, a wonderful arena, great coaching staff and possibly educational opportunities. A great nickname and logo are wonderful marketing tools, but they aren't the only thing. You need a good package to be successful.
  17. It also creates lives, usually about 9 months later.
  18. That just seemed too easy.
  19. According to everything I have seen and heard the process that will decide a new nickname has not been determined. But according to the same information, a lot of people will have an oppotunity to provide input into a new nickname. That will include you, me, everyone on this board and a lot of others. I would be surprised if the SBoHE makes the final decision, the only thing they will do is rule out a nickname if they determine that it will cause a problem (like if another Native American nickname were somehow chosen). No matter how a new name is chosen, or what name is chosen, I will guarantee that not everyone will be happy. You can't please everyone, ever. But a new nickname that works for a lot of people is probably what we can expect from the process, whatever that process turns out to be.
  20. And yet people go to school in places where their nickname is Cornhuskers, Tar Heels, Sooners, Jayhawks, Anteaters, Billikens, Boilermakers, Boll Weevils, Catamounts Banana Slugs, Salukis, etc. Do I need to go on? Some of those are some huge schools. But these are some bad nicknames. A nickname is going to be a very small factor in someone deciding on a school. Plus, as these nickname threads have shown, there is a very wide discrepancy in what people like and don't like in a nickname.
  21. I'm certainly not an aviation guy, but I would guess that it could be possible in a few years. I thought I heard an estimate that Williston had jumped up to over 17,000 people. If that growth rate continues it could become profitable to add more service to Williston. I believe that the city was looking at it earlier this year, but I don't know what was decided.
  22. I always thought that it was just a memory aide for Gopher fans.
  23. I would go with you if I had the time or was anywhere near the Twin Cities. Good luck finding someone.
  24. I've said the same thing several times. Opposing coaches and players, plus potential recruits, constantly talk about how great the atmosphere is in the building. They look forward to the building itself and look forward to the atmosphere and the crowd. Yet there are people on this board and in the Grand Forks area that talk about how weak it is. One group or the other has to be wrong. I will believe the incoming recruits that see several of the top places around the country.
  25. I've already said, multiple times, that I didn't think either of those would work. I just have different reasons. I would probably like Roughriders if Red River High School didn't have it. I just don't see a point in causing more nickname issues in the same city, and it would cause issues. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. A lot of people that support UND are also Red River supporters. There are people that would look at it as if UND were stealing the nickname from Red River. UND fans should realize the anger that can result from having a nickname taken. And I believe that Cavalry would be looked at as a back-handed swipe at Native Americans for losing the Fighting Sioux nickname. Again, don't cause more issues if you don't have to. Finding a unique nickname will greatly reduce that possibility.
