I assume he will have to redshirt this year. And he may or may not be guaranteed any scholarship money, just looking for a chance. But he would have 2 years left after the big bubble of players.

That was my exact quote. Perhaps I should have added "even if you tried" so that you could understand. It was implied. You see, not everything is spelled out in every sentence. But you have to understand that words can have similar meanings. And I don't mean making up my own definitions to words, unlike what you try to do.

Issues like this are discussed in the Administrative section titled SiouxSports.com rather than in the individual forums. That makes it easier to keep track of them. The site has been having problems for almost a week and I know that some of them were being looked at.

I didn't say that you tried to get into them. Even the students and professors at the schools I listed would say that they aren't fine schools.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
82SiouxGuy replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
The other thing to add is that a significant number of tickets will be resold for big games. And those tickets will not be sold at face value. They will be sold at a premium. Why shouldn't the school be getting part of that premium? -
It's very common with home mortgages. It is much simpler and more reliable for people. The taxes are put into escrow during the previous year for taxes payable this year. The same thing with insurance. Much less chance of people not having the money when they are due, and it is easier for people to pay a little more each month than coming up with the chunk once or twice a year.

Schools aren't fine just because you couldn't get into them. Here are the 50 worst colleges based on graduation rates and ranked by Washington Monthly. Not one of these schools is even close to a fine institution of higher education. All of them would be considered inferior. They are a waste of time and money.
-
A little English lesson. If is almost impossible for all to be fine, because it means excellent or superior. Adding the est makes it even more of a superlative. It is not possible for all colleges to be among the finest. Even when you make up your own definitions to words.

I guess that you don't want to pay for your kids education, or any of the other things that property tax pays for. You do realize that several other taxes will probably go up to replace property taxes. Because there isn't a plan in place, you could end up paying a lot more in total taxes depending on what a new plan would look like. Measure 2 is a poorly written piece of legislation. If they want to cut or eliminate property taxes, figure out a plan to make things work rather than just throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Those are called trade schools. And most of them have athletics. It's good to know that you'll just keep moving the line until you find something that fits with your statement rather than admit that you were wrong. But even your new definition doesn't fit with your original statement. You didn't say a fine school. You said: See, you said some of the finest colleges. Try again.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
82SiouxGuy replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
We realize that it isn't part of NDSU's current ticket policy. It has become the policy for many other schools and for many professional teams. NDSU is behind the curve on this issue. They are leaving dollars on the table that they could easily be collecting without incurring any additional costs. They could do this for games other than UND. As a business decision, it would make good sense (and cents) for NDSU to adopt this policy whether they schedule games with UND or not. Where else could you potentially add hundreds of thousands of dollars to the bottom line without adding any costs? -
Other than Madison, the other UW schools have a limited number of master's degree programs and very few Ph.D programs. I don't think that any of them, other than Madison, has a medical school or law school. They are not research universities. The UW schools are more like Moorhead and Morris, only larger. Some of the Wisconsin schools are similar in size to UND, but they do not have the same educational opportunities.
-
Actually, research has shown that successful athletic programs are a recruiting tool for the rest of the school. Examples are schools like Gonzaga and Butler having success in the NCAA basketball tournament and having increased applications. It can also help recruit faculty if they are interested in athletics. And successful athletics help increase donations to the entire school, not just the athletic program. So if the athletic department is less successful, the entire school will probably suffer.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
82SiouxGuy replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
If the games are scheduled as a home and home series it is doubtful that either visiting team would get paid. Usually, the home team keeps all of the revenue for that game as their payment. It's possible that they might get some travel expenses, but would then pay it back the next game. UND would not get paid nearly what NDSU is paying those other teams to make the trip to Fargo. -
It probably depends on the extent of the injury. If he isn't severely injured it would be good for him. There would probably be several teams with some interest. But if the injury is severe it isn't going to help at all. There probably won't be any other teams interested so Toronto can offer whatever it wants.

It wasn't just being late filing some paperwork. Try this example. You are a student and you have 1 paper to finish and hand in to get your grade. You fail to finish the paper by the deadline. Normally you would flunk the course. But you appeal to the teacher and they give you another chance. You get another 3 weeks to get the paper done, but you also have to do another paper by that same time. Consider it extra credit. If you don't get both papers in by the end of the extended period you fail the course and have no chance to appeal again. That is basically what happened. UND had a period during 2005-2006 to get approval from 1 tribe, and did not get approval from any tribes. They sued and settled. The settlement they agreed to was an extra 3 years to get 2 tribes approval. They got approval from 1 tribe but couldn't get the extra credit approval. In this case the 'failure' is being subject to sanctions until the name is changed. We have a pretty good idea of what some of those effects will be. It really doesn't matter what has happened to anyone else because that isn't going to change what is happening to UND. So it wasn't just being late with some paperwork, it was totally missing the first deadline and not completing the requirements for the second deadline which was 4 1/2 years later.
-
If UND gets kicked out of the Big Sky the football team will be disbanded within 3-5 years. But even if UND remains in the Big Sky the department will be damaged and could very well be a bottom dweller in the league for years.

There are other forums to discuss those issues. As long as there are undecided or uninformed voters that might read these boards it is important to disprove the bluster of those that you mentioned along with the Committee.

As jdub pointed out, the point that you were making in the statement, as well as the paragraph it was part of, was that other schools have done it. You didn't offer to give examples. But you made a blanket statement and we have offered you multiple opportunities to either provide the information or admit that the statement wasn't accurate. You realize that your statement was wrong so you try to avoid the subject by saying that we have taken the statement out of context. It's all right to admit that something wasn't correct.
-
Watch, he will post something about taking his statement out of context; or he will say something about your reading comprehension skills; or he will just insult you. After all, all of us must be wrong, Dave is the visionary in the group.
-
You told me that I took one sentence out of the paragraph and that I took it out of context. So I brought you the entire paragraph. You providing a Wikipedia definition doesn't prove your point. Hook the sentence that offends you with the sentence before that. It says the same thing. You tried to show that other quality schools don't have athletics. You were wrong. You can't explain that away, everyone on the forum realizes that you made a false statement and you refuse to admit it.
-
It's funny that multiple people challenge your statements, but it is all of those people's problem with reading comprehension and not your writing skills.
-
But, Dave, it wasn't out of context. Here is the entire paragraph. No where does it even infer that your point was that you don't need an athletic department to have a quality education. That might have been on your mind, but it wasn't what you wrote. Your statement was trying to prove your point that UND should just drop athletics since "some of the finest colleges don't have sports". That statement is wrong. It was proven. Just admit it.
-
The sentence wasn't taken out of context. Everyone else on the board seems to have taken it the same way I did. You are just trying to wiggle out of a false statement. And the other statement is as I said, either a blatant lie or a bad mistake. Both of them show how little the Committee can be trusted.
-
If you said what you mean you wouldn't constantly have to say "That's not what I meant".
