  1. By George, I think you've got it. I had a similar thought.
  2. Nothing bad can happen to NDSU. It stands above all. Everyone bows down to the mighty Moo U, even Big Bad Al.
  3. Why would I register to read a board for delusional people? I'm not going to help support the insanity. So I was wrong, there are 6 or 10 of you that are that insane instead of just you. Congratulations, you aren't alone. You are just in a super-minority.
  4. You made a broad statement insulting a UND hockey player. I entered that discussion to point out that Dell had a very good year in 2010-2011. Then you said that UND hasn't had good goalies the last decade. I proceeded to give you 3 very good years in the last decade, from guys named Parise and Lamoureux besides the year that Dell had.
  5. You are willing to keep the name if it harms the athletic department? Then you may be a hockey fan, but you are not a supporter of the University of North Dakota.
  6. And I explained the differences. They got approval within the deadlines required. UND did not. There are penalties for not meeting deadlines. For UND the penalties are spelled out as sanctions. That is the end of the story.
  7. Yes he did. Which makes sense based on comments he has made in both this forum and the hockey forum.
  8. Lakes must have something named after him in the tournament. He is the only one that might outrank Dave.
  9. There is no absolute with Dave, he always has to have a way to get out. So there is probably an out for the Fighting Sioux nickname also. I would be shocked if he went away when the nickname is retired. He will still claim to be a fan of UND, and probably say it is OK because they didn't change the colors at the same time.
  10. Do they call it the DaveK Preposterous Statement Tournament? If they don't, they should.
  11. Very nicely said.
  12. You should be on Dancing with the Stars. You dance around these issues like no one else. Of course, no one knows who you are so you really wouldn't classify as a star. Dave, you have no credibility with anyone on this board, or anyone else that stops to read the board. In the past you said that you were disgusted by people that want to change the nickname. Why don't you take it easy on yourself and not subject yourself to the constant disgust.
  13. Chris Creamer's Sports Logos Community View New Content An Error Occurred Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. And nice language, too.
  14. You obviously are too young to remember the state when the rivalry was at its peak. All you have to do is look at some of the other big in-state rivals to see what would happen in North Dakota. The National title was a big deal. But both schools won National titles in the past, and the rivalry game was still the biggest event in the state. It would be again if the game were played.
  15. As we can all see, Dave changes his rules as he needs to in order to believe he is right. Let's see if I can get this right. Changing the nickname means the team no longer exists. Changing the team colors means the team no longer exists. Changing the team colors is okay as long as the logo stays the same. Changing the logo means the team no longer exists. Changing the logo is fine as long as it is somewhat similar to the previous logo and the colors stay the same. The bottom line for Dave seems to be that he is easily confusable, so he can't stand if one of his teams makes too big a change. His problem with UND changing the nickname and logo is because he wouldn't recognize the University of North Dakota and wouldn't know who to root for. Either that or he is selfish and can't stand it if he doesn't have everything the way he wants.
  16. Thanks, I forgot to point that out to him.
  17. It doesn't really matter at this point whether anyone else gets to keep their name or not. UND did not get tribal approval within the deadlines. I say deadlines plural, because UND had 2 opportunities to meet a deadline. There was the original deadline for appeals in 2006. That was the deadline that FSU. Utah and Central Michigan, as well as a few others, met. As I pointed out earlier, UND just needed approval from 1 tribe at that point. All Spirit Lake needed to do was send a letter with 1 sentence on it to the NCAA. Spirit Lake refused to do that. Then UND took the NCAA to court. The result was a legal settlement. One of the penalties was needing to get approval from 2 tribes, and in exchange UND got an extension until November 30, 2010. UND couldn't meet that deadline because Standing Rock refused to even talk to them, much less work with them. So, it doesn't matter what is happening with the other schools. It may not be fair, but I told you earlier that life isn't fair. What has happened with the other schools has no bearing on what is happening to UND. Do what is right for the University of North Dakota and vote YES on Measure 4.
  18. Few, if any, of us want to get rid of the nickname. Don't get hung up on how this happened or how we got to this point. What is important is the bottom line. The bottom line is that keeping the nickname keeps UND on sanctions. It does nothing to help UND, and it does nothing to hurt the NCAA. Some people seem to think they can make a point to the NCAA by keeping the nickname. It won't affect the NCAA in any way, while it will hurt UND. The NCAA wins if UND retires the nickname and the NCAA wins if UND is on sanctions. UND loses either way, but it loses much more by keeping the name and staying on sanctions. So don't vote by emotion, don't vote with your heart, vote with your head and vote to allow UND to retire the nickname so it can move forward rather than be stuck in the mess of sanctions.
  19. I was thinking the same thing. This is the second one in the past week.
  20. I think we have seen a pretty wide variety of things go wrong in the Frozen 4 in the past decade. That makes it a little harder to fix since it isn't the same thing each time. But no, we haven't had a goalie steal one for UND during that time.
  21. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhtttttttttttttttttttttttt.
  22. I understand that you don't care about the University. You don't care about any sports except hockey. And your only interest in the situation is that you don't want to give up the nickname. I think I understand pretty well.
  23. Don't worry, Fetch is a BIG hockey fan. He's probably even heard that Jonathan Toews and Zach Parise are considering going to UND.
  24. This has nothing to do with Political Correctness. But thanks for trying to throw more garbage at the wall to muck up the discussion. This is a business decision, doing what is best for the University of North Dakota. It is a pragmatic decision, not a PC decision. Only a small mind that can't see the big picture would look at this as a PC decision.
  25. It isn't about being PC at this point for UND. It is about what is best for the student-athletes. It is about what is best financially for the athletic department and the school. It is about making the best decision for the University of North Dakota. In fact, it is about making the best business decision for the state of North Dakota. Anyone that believes this is a PC decision really doesn't understand the situation and is completely off base.
