I haven't posted much in the past few years. I've been busy with family and career, and most of what I am thinking is reflected by others who post regularly. But lately, I've been pondering the question - why does UND Hockey mean so much to me? I have not lived in ND for 20 years, since I graduated UND in 1992, And, I have had many opportunities to witness big time pro sports moments in the cities I have lived in since (Gary Payton's Seattle Sonics vs. Michael Jordan's Bull's in the NBA finals is just one example). However, nothing has ever come close to the importance that UND Hockey has in my life. Why would that be? Some obvious reasons come to mind, given my circumstances of growing up in Grand Forks. I had the priveledge of attending all home games throughout my childhood, because my parents always had season tickets. I got to witness some of the team's national championships live, which adds to the personal sense of pride in any fan. And, the community does support the hockey team in a way that is special, almost unique. However, that is not the whole story. Something more keeps people like me tuned in, finding a webcast or a pay-cable channel to allow us to see every possible game every season. Something timeless is required. That connection can only continue to exist if a program keeps a tradition that means something. UND Hockey has that. It had it back then, and it has it now. UND Hockey is one of the only things that has stayed constant through all of the changes throughout my life, one of the only things that still exists that is just as good, maybe better, than it was when I was young. Through decades of time, the magic that is UND Hockey continues, and it means the world to me. Your thoughts?

Yes, a hugely UND-biased crowd, and the boys gave us nothing to cheer about all game. That one will be forever burned in my brain, unfortunately. In last year's loss vs Michigan, at least the game was close, and they had a chance to win until the last minute. Anyway, This year's team is not done over-acheiving. Go kick BSU.

Time of possession for UND tonight was 3-to-1, and yet UND gives up 5 again. Brutal weekend, defensively. Hak & crew better get some things corrected quickly.

How do you give up 5 goals on so few shots? Brutal. UND is not going to win many games this year if they are giving up 5 / game, period.

Agree that injuries are the most significant threat for this weekend. Not likely that MT can pose a serious threat to win 2 of 3, but they can cause damage to the lineup if play gets out of hand. On that note, has anyone heard about Rowney's status?

Quality is low, but still fun to watch, especially if you already have a package for home games.

Funny. This morning, I was thinking that, if I were Hak, I would play both Genoway & Eidesness today. Good luck, boys. Wouldn't it be great if UND had everyone (with the exception of Kristo) going again for the playoffs?

I certainly hope for a better showing than last night. That was painful to watch.

That call on the dive was a disgrace to officiating. That Maine player deserves to get his ass kicked at the end of the game.

Same problem on Comcast in California. Must be a FSSN-FCS technical issue, because the webcasts do not have fluctuations in sound.

For those of you who get FCS on cable, they are playing repeats of Sioux games from last season from time to time. Monday, they replayed the Broadmoor Championship game, and then a regular season game vs MSU-M was on this morning.

UND looked really strong 5 X 5 at times tonight. If they had any weakness, it was that the hesitated way too much in their own zone and failed to clear the puck when they had the chance, which I believe lead to both of CC's goals tonight. In any case, a nice run being displayed by UND now, with 5 straight wins. So, despite all my earlier ranting, UND does appear to be "surging" again. Thank God for that.

I watched a game on B2 earlier this season. It seemed pretty good, at least for the picture. The sound was a little screwy that day (very "tinny"), but that could have been the source feed.

Everyone should read this article! An absolute classic by Virg. It takes a lot of courage to call out the WCHA "leadership" like he did. I applaud him for that.

Anybody else having trouble with purchasing the webcast? Never mind; I'm in!

This year's team has plenty of speed & skill, but they don't have anyone performing at a level like Denver's Rackshani (or Chevy). A few more saves at key moments, or a few more plays where our offensive guys refuse to be denied, and this team wouldn't be in such a pickle. Getting Hextall back will help a little, but we fans have to face the giant trend this year. Inconsistent performance by our key guys is killing this season. One more thing - I want to see this team start to get mad and throw their weight around a bit more out there. This year, the team is too damn nice!

I continue to be angered by the inept odd-man rushes by UND. Apparently, that is something they just don't practice, becauase they have bee HORRIBLE at it this year. GRRRR.
