    Streaming Audio

You can listen to the MSU-M audio stream at this address: http://www3.mnsu.edu/athletics/ I'm listening and it's working fine.

UND letting in too many softies this game, although TH not faulting Parise for them. Basically, UND is the better team tonight 5 on 5, but BC has those early PPG's that really put the Sioux in a hole. Overall a very sloppy game as far as chances given up against.

Sioux look totally outclassed. However, they are not really rolling lines because of all the freakin' penalties. How the heck did the 3rd goal happen?

Fylling has looked like the best forward so far. I don't know what is up with the rest of the team, but they had better get it going soon, or BC is going to make this one a laugher.
  5. Yes, the old Ralph was a great atmosphere. Of course, when things weren't going well, it could be quiet in there, too. However, the new barn feels a little hollow. Crank it up UND fans!

Sioux were very sloppy on the PP. BC was, by contrast, very good at puck control on the PP. At this rate, UND will have 12 penalties in this game. Total BS! The first penalty of the game was real quick and T.H. did not think it was charging. A hard hit does not mean it was illegal! Then, towards the end of the 1st, Fylling is hooked off the puck and no call. What the hell? In case you didn't notice, I'm not real happy with the refs right now.

If you will notice the game time on the dataflix site, it says 7:35 CST. Does that mean they got the start time wrong? (Edit) - looks like 7:35 is right.
  9. The webcast quality of the SCSU football game was excellent. No buffering problems; no commercial interruptions during game time; No interference of game play with the Daktronics bigscreen images. For those of you who are unsure, give this Saturday's game a look. I'm hoping they match the quality of the football broadcasts.
  10. I heard that next weekend the game will again be free as an incentive for people to give the webcasts another chance. Supposedly, the problem was at Dataflix and not at REA.
  11. Has dataflix or REA issued any kind of explanation or apology for the botched webcast last night? I know the first one was free, but I already paid for the whole season, and I want the #$^*! thing to work every game! I'm surprised not to have heard something from them. They are not going to win many new subscriptions this way.
  12. Watched the whole game on webcast. It looks to me like Bowenkamp has a good arm, but the ball was sailing high on him much of the time. Also, he just doesn't have the mobility it takes to avoid sacks. Wilson played out of his mind! He was the difference in the second half. He scrambled out of the pocket when necessary, and located receivers downfield while doing so. Just an incredible performance. I think you gotta play Wilson until he shows he is NOT ready to be the starter.
  13. There was absolutely no problem with the football webcast this afternoon. That's what is so wierd. I'm glad it's not just me. Too bad for all of you who were tuning in for the first time, though. It really is fun to watch the webcasts (when they are working).
  14. Nope. I bought the whole year package, watched the football game vs SCSU this afternoon, but I got squat tonight.
  15. Is ANYONE getting the webcast? A different screen comes up for me than for the football webcasts. It says "Dataflix movie player" instead of "Ralph Engelstad Arena" and there is no picture, although the free previews are working. This leads me to believe the problem is on their end. Anyone?
  16. It counts as a Non-conference game in the power rankings.
  17. That game will go down as one of the greatest comebacks in UND history. Joe Wilson played out of his mind. He looked like he ought to be the starting QB. If he can play like that consistently, we wouldn't lose many games. Glas got some major redemption today. A 52 yarder to win the game. Amazing.
  18. A quick tip...Windows Media 9 did not work properly for me with the dataflix site until I opened the program, unchecked the "archive" box, and clicked on all the page tabs. I'm not sure which of these actions was the key to getting it working, but afterward the webcasts worked just fine. I suggest trying to view a free preview on the dataflix site to avoid missing game time.
  19. The thing I'm wondering is who DOESN'T play next year? With names like Schneider Jones Fuher Greene Smaby Radke Beaverson not to mention Marvin and the two freshmen, who is going to sit? They're all top tier D-men.
  20. Just checked the roster on Fightingsioux.com and I see that Scott Foyt has been added. Missing now is Ranfranz, however.
  21. Just watched the game on webcast archive. I thought defense was very impressive. Especially given that the most impact is being laid out by young players like Gagner & Anderson. Offense was out of synch, especially Bowenkamp at times, but other times they looked good. Especially Rolland. Defensive win. Good job.
  22. For anyone interested in the SAN FRANCISCO party: The site has been moved to Bus Stop Sports Bar 1901 Union St. SF, CA 94123 (415) 567 - 6905 This information has been given to Nancy Nelson @ UND. She will see that emails and postcards are sent next week to inform people, but I thought I'd post it here, too.

    Webcast

I don't know if this has been previously posted, but the lag time between live and archived games is supposedly going to be 48 hours. That seems pretty slow, but perhaps there is technical processing of which I'm unaware. Initially, I had hoped to be able to watch the games later in the evening the same day (I live on the West Coast). Unfortunately, if this lag time is accurate, it will preclude such plans.

Actually, I lean toward viewpoint #2 (see my earlier post) as well. I've not been impressed with UND FB scheduling or performance since 2001. Labelling someone as not a "true fan" just because they have standards and expectations is wrong, IMO.

It has been alleged that one is not a "true fan" if one "falls off the bandwagon" after a single loss. That got me thinking about college sports (look out!) and what it is to be a "fan". The way I see it there are 2 schools of thought: 1) College sports are about the students' experiences and development. Thus, "true fans" should always be positive and supportive and remember that it is just a game. 2) Some college sports (Hockey, FB & BB @ UND) are businesses that charge for tickets to make money for the University, which funds scholarships, benefits the local economy & makes the U stronger. In this case, "true fans" expect that the program deliver towards stated goals and perform at a community established level. Neither of the views is without merit. It would do us all good to remember that.
