  1. So much for The John having great ice. This game may not go on at all tonight.
  2. A really dumb penalty by Canady. Could have been a 5 min. major. When will he learn to get it under control?
  3. Well, UND down 1-2 at the end of the second. Great goaltending by King, but a very lackluster physical effort by a couple of lines tonight. Unless they pass better in the third and crash the net, they may lose this one.
  4. What I'd really like to see is the McD's current ad slogan, "I'm lovin' it!" with a picture of Fournier getting knocked on his arse.
  5. Farce: I agree with all your points except this one. By my "Experience ratio" of the 20 guys expected to dress the most, UND this year rates a 2.3, versus 2.1 last year and a lousy 1.9 rating in '01-02. It is no coincidence that the seasons have been progressively better. UM won it the last few years with teams, I believe, in the 2.2 - 2.4 area. UM's performance this year is a mystery. The curse of back-to-back championships, I guess. UND will continue to roll, IMO, because of their experience and the outstanding depth of talent they posses this season. Nothing is guaranteed, but anything short of the Frozen Four will be a disappointment. This is truly a special team.
  6. Sioux overacheived to make it to the championship this year, so I can't be too disappointed. Also, it came down to the last 20 seconds of the game, so it was defenitely not a one-sided affair. If not for the unfortunate fumble, GVSU may not have gotten in the end zone either. Congrats, Sioux on a fun and exciting season.
  7. This is a great statement about college hockey. Many people say college is a better game to watch because there is less hooking and holding (I happen to agree). Also, people like college because players tend to stay in one place and have some connection to the city for which they are playing. However, without the NHL there as an inspiration, Sioux hockey would not be where it is today. Gasperini started the modern era with his genius at recruiting top future NHL talent. Blais came in as a practically minded coach who took the recruits he could get and has worked his way up to recruiting the top talent in college. I think, without a doubt, this year's team has the best NHL talent level since the '80 squad. Here's to our kids dreaming of the NHL while we watch them at good 'ol Grand Forks. God bless the Fighting Sioux!
  8. UND is underrated for sure. Pitt. State came into UND highly touted. They fell. Winnona was not as respected as they should have been. A lobsidedly senior team with talent. They fell. UNA was a hell of a good team! They fell. I hope Grand Valley State goes into the game thinking it won't be the fight of their lives. Because if they do, they fall!

    Dog signs

After seeing the Dogs twice this season, I'm thinking of a sign with a picture of Scrappy Doo. Except the caption is "Scrappy Doo Doo."

Well, I haven't had 5 whiskey on the rocks, but I happen to agree about tomorrow night. Blais was not at all happy with tonight's game, despite the win. I say UND wins by 2 or 3 goals tomorrow, and that the game is more physical and even harder-fought. P.S. Go Sioux football! We're all pulling for you tomorrow.
  12. I, of course, have no choice other than dataflix. Tonight, there was some "choppy" signal, but no real buffering for me. That's an improvement over a couple other games recently, where there was some actual interruption. Overall, the dataflix thing is a great product for those with no other option. Sioux looked sloppy tonight. Played just well enough to beat a tough, scrappy Dogs team, though. Go Sioux!

2 comments. Dogs are a good team with some solid talent. Not championship material, though. UND played very sloppily at times tonight. The time off did them no good. That said, Sioux played a tough, gritty 3rd period and pulled out the win. Good job.

    Revenge

I Agree about GVS's QBs two years ago. They both did an excellent job. Sioux defense looked a little stunned at times against them. Can't imagine the injured QB would have done any better. What won the game back then was the UND offense stepping up and making some plays late in the game, when the defense was struggling. If not for the late heroics of the offense, GVS would be trying for their 3rd consecutive. As for next week, I believe it is going to be a fantastic, fun game. Lots of offense and some defensive plays to boot. Should be another 4th quarter battle. Go Sioux!

    UND vs. UNA

"Sweet home Alabama! Second time in three years. Goin' down there to win it all. God bless the Fighting Sioux!

    UND vs. UNA

So, does the definition of "destroyed" mean that we allow them to score 3 pts per half?

    Sioux v. U-18

Watched this one on dataflix and happy to say no buffering problems tonight. UND looked pretty sloppy at times, but that is to be expected after a week off and no mental hype. Also, Fabian, bina, Canady & Foyt were in the lineup, which is not usually the case. Lundbohm, Hale sat. Top line was asleep tonight. Is it just me, or is Zach really struggling this season? I've seen him show some major frustration, like slamming the doors shut and such. I don't think he is very happy with how this season is going on a personal basis. Ziggy looked good on a few saves. It must be tough to face so few shots and still play sharply. Smallest crowd at the Ralph. Officially 6,891. Still above capacity at the old Ralph. Go Sioux football tomorrow!

    Sioux to host

Look...the NCAA committee member came out in the article and said SOS was THE reason. Why are we debating it? And no, UND will not be "destroyed" this weekend. They may lose, but it will not be so lobsided as some (Bored, no team to cheer for) fans would have us believe.

    WINONA @ UND

Excellent! Keep those postings coming. I'm at the parents-in-law's house, and their connection is not fast enough for me to get audio. Go Sioux!
  21. I have high-speed broadband and I love it, but some folks have complained about buffering and such with slower connections. I'm not sure I'd recommend it without a fast connection, although it supposedly only requires 222 kb rate.
  22. Go to fightingsioux.com, then click on the "Live broadcasts" link and choose the "hockey/football" link. It's working.
  23. Something new to report on dataflix - the archives for last night's DU game and even todays Pitt. State football game are already up! Originally, they were doing 48 hour lags before archives would be available. This is nice for anyone who wants to see the game the next day (or even later on game day), without seeing the score first.
  24. First round NCAA's. A nice victory for the Sioux, as Pitt. State had a highly-touted team this year. Next week will see the Sioux play another (quater-final) game at the Alerus center, unless something wierd happens with the people who set the matches. Go Sioux!
  25. Time to get this thread going! Watched the football victory over Pitt. State this afternoon. What fun. Went to workout and got some soup for the sick wife. Now, I'm uncorking a fine bottle of wine and I'm ready for some kick-arse hockey! Go Sioux.
