  1. I'd still be laughing!!
  2. No where to post this so I'll put it here. I had to go to the lab to check out a patient who went beak down after having his blood drawn. Happens a lot but this particular patient was a big strapping young man wearing....... a Gopher t-shirt. After checking him out, he was fine, and going back to my dept, I laughed out loud!!! I'm still smiling at the thought of him. Go Goofy...., wait!! That's not what I meant or was it?!
  3. What part of his post did dlsiouxfan make up?
  4. If anyone thought that college hockey players aren't 'professionals' will re-think that position after reading the second article. Anytime 'compensation' is requested for the lose of an athlete that would indicate that athlete is a professional, IMHO.
  5. You're wrong once again, Herd. The University of North Dakota had the support, written no less, from the Spirit Lake Tribe. The NC$$ decided that wasn't good enough. They wanted the tribe to 'renew' their support. The tribe, which has never rescinded their support, did not respond to the NC$$. So, rather than concluding the Tribe wasn't interested in playing their game, the NC$$ decided that meant there was no support. And now, instead of one name sake tribe supporting the name and logo, which by the way we still have, they want UND to get support from TWO name sake tribes. See, no uniformity.
  6. I don't understand all this secrecy or waiting. Is there a benefit in waiting to tell the school or their new club whether they are or are not leaving college hockey for the pros?
  7. Aw, hell!! You're gonna start looking for that $5/wk now, aren't you?!?
  8. The NC$$'s policy was very clear when it came out August 2005. NO Native American names/logos/mascots for NC$$ membership schools or NO hosting championship events, period. Then, they changed their minds because a school that made them multimillions of dollars objected. So, that resulted in a NEW policy. A name sake tribe objected but because they are not in said state they don't count. Sorry, Herd. There is no uniformity in the NC$$ policy. The only uniformity is whatever benefits the NC$$.
  9. I'll double that and raise you two dust bunnies that he is as good as gone!! I'm glad to hear that he's finishing the semester!
  10. The only problem with placing a member on 'ignore' is that when someone responds to that member's post, it's visible. My recommendation is to quit getting sucked into fourwinds diatribes. A person only has to look at his posts to know that his primary purpose on this forum is to insult anyone that doesn't agree with him and to make ignorant statements designed to create animosity. Put the poor guy on ignore and save us all from his needling posts.
  11. Amen, hallelujah, brother.....
  12. This oldie but goodie came to mind... But of course it will be taken out of context. http://www.counterpunch.org/cassel05192003.html
  13. Rabble rouser!!
  14. WTF is that suppose to mean!?! Yes, I am a female.
  15. I'm not confused. I hold the positon there is no uniformity based on the NC$$ own actions of exempting some schools and not others. Oh sure, they dance around the issue by stating the 'namesake' tribes ultimately can give or deny permission for the use of 'their' names. Bull-snot!! The use of Native American names/logos/mascots is hostile and abuse for all (uniformity) or it's not. The NC$$ makes so much sense! http://republicans.edlabor.house.gov/archi...06/franklin.htm

  17. Well, yes, but you are only partially correct. If the use of a Native American name/logo/mascot brings in multimillions of dollars to the NC$$, it's ok to use them.

  19. Well said! Look at the ol' Ralph and the new Ralph. The difference in maintenance costs alone probably average more than 100+ to 1. I'm not positive but I seem to remember that the Engelstad bequest specifically states that the U has to pay the costs of up-keep, updates, maintenance, etc.
  20. Hey!!! Sioux-cia is more than just a woman!! Given that there have been wrong assumptions about my work on reservations, I thought I'd share these pics. This is a pic of me (in the middle) after a loooong day in the ER on the Navajo Nation. The shortie is one of the ER's medical administrative assistants (MAS), Ella. She and her family made me a member of their family! We were a 24 hr ER in the middle of no where, not attached to a hospital. Patients that needed to be hospitalized, were stabilized then taken by ambulance, plane or helicopter to the appropriate facility. Among many other things, the MAS' took care of finding a facility that could take our patients. The tall young man was an EMT in training. He's in nursing school now. This is one of me (wearing a University of North Dakota t-shirt) with an Eagle Air Med pilot. I thought he looked a lot like Jake Brandt. About one week after I left the rez, one of their medical transport planes (this is not a picture of one) crashed, killing the pilot, RN and paramedic on board. http://www.flightweb.com/article.php/20071008085939196 I enjoy sharing pics but I'll stop now!
  21. I wish they came due in June or July. My poor pocketbook is pretty empty after the F5, Regionals and the F4!! Oh well, it's a good cause. And, it's not like I need money for anything besides Fighting Sioux hockey.
  22. I'm still waiting for my share of the royalties San Diego State gets from the Aztec name and logo. They keep refusing my requests. They tell me that the Aztecs are extinct!!! WTF!!!! Tell that to the descendents of the Aztecs, many who are living in Southwestern states, that they don't exist. Tell the couple of million Aztec speaking descendents living near Mexico City that their language no long exists. F%^&*#@ Whitey!! Shuckin' and jivin', wheeling and dealing, so I don't get my fair share!!!
