tDon's comment about placing 3rd in the F5, tells me that his team doesn't need to bust their butts every time they hit the ice. Only some games are important to the Goofs. Poor work ethic, IMHO.

I totally agree that this incident and the name and logo have nothing in common. But, I'm not going to give the University a bye on how they handled this. These things, at least some of them, occurred and were reported in February. The investigations started in April. Not acceptable.

It was investigated long after it was reported. While he waited, the bullying continued. I think, my opinion only, that the reason it was not investigated sooner was because he was an 'able bodied' young man who was presumed to be able to take care of himself. Had a woman (I hope) or a person with a handicap (I hope) been bullied, I believe the investigation would not have taken weeks or months.

I stand corrected but the essence of what I posted is unchanged. It really bugs me when someone/anyone comes on the board and makes sweeping statements about any group of people, i.e. 'all of our athletes in general'. We're discussing TWO athletes here, not all in general. I don't care that you take classes with 'all of them' or have been on campus with 'all of them' for years, unless you have violated HIPPA FERPA rules, there is no way for you to know their academic standing nor should you! We have many outstanding student athletles who have received honors for their academic work. So to lump 'all of our athletes' in general' with TWO who have messed up pisses me off. Chappell didn't make it academically for whatever reason. I don't know that reason. I don't have to know that reason. But, as a fan, I can be pissed off that he didn't. I hope he gets the help he needs to get academically ok so he can graduate with a degree in his major of choice and maybe play ball again. Stroup f#$%&#@ up. I don't know why. There are many reasons a kid from a 'good family' who is an athlete can get into trouble. I truly hope he gets the help he needs.

Unless you've violated HIPPA regulations, you don't know what students' grades are. My 'almost' daughter partied 'hardy' her last year at UND. She could have graduated early but decided to enjoy her fourth year. She graduated with a degree in Chemistry, Magna Cum Laude, 4.0 X's four years, baby!!!. So don't tell me because you see people having too much fun, you KNOW they're not doing well academically. And unless you're able to attend a new class every five minutes, don't expect us to believe that you have classes with all the student athletes!! You don't know who knows what on this board unless they choose to share it, so knock off the CRAP!! You've been jumping down posters throats pretty regular lately, telling newbies what they can and can't post, telling people not to post something in a thread, they need to go to another thread, telling us ad nauseam how you know EVERYBODY! Are you referring to ALL TWO of which only ONE is academically ineligible. The other ONE is a criminal or are there more? Can Chappell get up to par taking classes this summer? Or is the fall's academic eligibility based on the Spring semesters grades?

Both sides rag on each other as is done between fan bases of all athletics. It's what's done. It's part of the rivalry. But, to get to the reason for the thread, Was Guentzel a scap goat? Was the wrong coach eased out? What are the players saying about Guentzel leaving? How is this going to affect the Goofs's program?

No one has said the logos have anything in common. The discussion has to do with PC run amok. Does Coppertone still use the picture of the little girl whose swimsuit bottom is partially tugged off by a puppy? If so, LOOK OUT!!!!

Let's not forget that the problems this particular student encountered went beyond a picture scrawled on a wall. There was a picture of a swastika with the works, ......is a Jew, he was verbally taunted for being Jewish, he was shot at with a pellet gun, there was something about using ice cream to draw a swastika on a wall.... This kid went through a lot. And because one picture doesn't look like a swastika does not diminish what this student had to endure at the hands of a few racists.
