Those four superstars have combined for a stellar 33 points this season, which has them tied for 3rd in the state in scoring.

You know something else? All African-Americans LOVE watermelon and fried chicken and wear baggy clothes and carry guns and are phenomenal athletes. And all Asians are just great at math. And all Jewish people are just out to get our hard earned money. What? Was that stereotypical? Just like your entire post? Yes, there are some students who feel this way, but my guess is that most don't. It isn't like the University is going to make them sit down and be quiet all game. Students can still yell as loud as they want, but minus the f-bombs. That's really the only word they (the University) should be concerned about. It's not our (the student's) arena, it is the University's, and like it or not, they are actually allowed to do whatever the hell they want with it.

I don't have a prediction for this game, but I can pretty much guarantee one thing - Eli Rosendahl will be on his "A" game Saturday night. After a lackluster performance, which competitor doesn't want to go out and play their heart out? My guess is that the entire Rider team will feel this way, too. If they all play with a chip on their shoulder - which they should after the game on Tuesday - there should be no doubt that they can win this game. But hard work can only get you so far, and the Riders will have to play one of their best games of the season to win. I see a low scoring game, probably a repeat score of earlier in the season of 2-1, going in either direction.

It was all Roseau tonight, beating the Riders 9-2. This was the first game I've seen in which the opposing team had alot of point-blank shots. The Rams had alot of great scoring opportunities, and buried most of them. Only one or two goals were Eli's fault (he was pulled after the second with the score being 7-1). Good thing this was only a nonconference game. Hopefully the Riders can rebound and come out with a big win against South on Saturday.

Your entire post contradicted itself. You tell people to quit putting their hometown teams first and have an unbiased opinion, then you go and put four Grafton players on the list. Kringstad isn't one of the top three goalies in the state, let alone the best.
-
You are obviously blind to the fact that this team is kind of a joke. Nick Klenow, Brian Lee, and Jay Erickson? He's obviously joking putting those names on the list. And about the maroon-shaded glasses? Um, nowhere on that list is a player from Grand Forks Central. My guess for the all-state team will be Weisgarber and Galt in place of Lee and Klenow.

I know for a fact that Parise was not at the game last nite. He may be at the game tonite, but that would make no sense to go for just one nite.
-
I'm not sure how freakishly bad a team needs to suck, why dont you ask the #5 team in the state, West Fargo.

Saw this one on espn.com. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=2286280. If you don't want to take the time to read it, it basically says that the NCAA will allow UND to use the nickname in postseason play this year.

WJCFan, you obviously never played sports as a kid. If you had played, however, you would realize that friendships are thrown out the window when you are playing against one of your buddies. Just because you do or say something on the ice, floor, field, whatever, doesnt mean that you aren't friends off it. You are working for the same goal - a victory - so are you really going to be a nice guy to someone who wants you to lose?
-
The information that I received was that the Sioux were doing a drill in which a player had to go around the net. One player accidentally took Parise out. Concussion or hip flexor, he's still hurt. Can you buy that one?

I was at the RR-Grafton game tonight and it was pretty even, except for the goalie play. The final score was 4-1, with Grafton's lone goal coming on a tip-in with about 4 minutes left in the third period. The goalie play was the story tonight, with Eli Rosendahl coming up huge for the Riders and Kringstad looking shaky at best. I came to the arena thinking that I would see a battle of the state's two top goalies, but that was simply not the case. I think this game showed who the top 2 teams in the state really are - South and Red River. Grafton has two good players, but the Riders really shut them down tonight. One thing that I did notice, however, was the attitude of Grafton goalie Tony Kringstad. He drew one penalty and took a few cheap shots at other Red River players. At one point in the second period, I went to stand behind the Grafton net. During one stoppage of play, Kringstad pulled off his mask and made an obscene gesture to some fans standing behind the net. I was quite unimpressed with his play and his actions.

Parise had a concussion in practice this week and Radke was a healthy scratch.

Luck or the ability to grow a pair of balls when it matters?

Kids will be kids, Dave. You don't think that students from South or North have done the same exact thing? Are you trying to tell me that when you were a student, you never said or did one negative thing at a game? Cmon. It happens everywhere and you know it. Until Fargo schools can prove that they can win championships with teams from Grand Forks they don't deserve the same amount of respect. There's a reason kids transfer from schools like Minot and Fargo to come play for Grand Forks hockey. Because they are both proven programs and have earned the respect of everyone in the state. Fargo programs don't have that respect because, frankly, they just haven't been as good. Until they prove that they can win even 5 out of 10 state tournaments Fargo programs shouldn't be placed on the same level as Grand Forks programs. Not saying that the Fargo teams aren't better, the Fargo programs are just not on the same level. And about Central being on the same level as Grafton and South for the past 10 or so years? How quickly you forget who has won 2 of the past 3 state tourneys. Also, have you completely missed what has been happening in the Bantam levels? Who are the two best teams in the state? How about Pee Wees? In which city do the two best teams in the state reside? You say that South will be tough in the next few years, but can you really believe it?
-
Ha ha ha ha, what? Dave, come on. Red River is (once again) a great team. Central is down, but they have won 2 of the past 3 state titles and are still looking like they could sneak into the state tourney. If we're going to start comparing high school teams to NFL teams, you missed one comparison. EVERY Fargo team = The Minnesota Vikings. They get everyone's hopes up during the regular season and make people think that THIS could be the year they win it, but they always end up disappearing come playoff time (Minot could also be included in this category). It's absolutely rediculous to compare the GF teams to the 49ers and Cowboys. When's the last time either of those teams won the Super Bowl, 1996? And Red River and Central have combined to win the past 3 state titles, 5 of the past 6, 9 of 11...do you see where I'm going with this? Before we start comparing high school teams to NFL teams that haven't won anything in the past ten years, let's do a little research. To say that "the days of GF dominance are over" is just plain wrong. Two of the top 5 or 6 defensemen in the state (Jarrett Galbreath and Ryan LaDoucer) are sophomores going to Red River. Red River has a deep, deep sophomore class that can only get better. Sure, Fargo teams can win state titles in the next 7 or 8 years (heck, maybe even THIS year) but to say that South will have a long run of titles is just plain ludacris. When you reply to this post Dave, do me a favor and take off those brown and yellow shaded glasses.
-
West Fargo isn't undefeated, they lost to Red River. I will most likely be at the RR-Central game tonight and I'm guessing I'll see a strong performance by the Riders. I just don't think that Central will have enough to be able to score with the Riders, especially on the top netminder in the state, Eli Rosendahl (Don't believe me? Check out this link: http://www.gfparks.org/ndaha/goalieleaders.html If you don't want to do that, I'll make it easy. Best GAA and best save %.) I'm expecting to see a Rider victory, 6-1.
-
I was not able to attend the Legends game, but I heard that the Legends beat the Riders 12-4. Another thing that I heard was that Marc "10 Bears" Mihulka pulled his vaunted move, the Stop-O-Razi, on Nate Ziggelman. Mihulka then proceeded to go sit in his reserved seat on the Legends bench. From what I hear, this move was quite amazing, and is just another chapter in the book of amazing Mihulka feats.

It's still early in the year, but this loss signifies what I have thought all along, Kringstad is overrated.
-
To add some insight on this subject, I remember that one of the reasons that Forney chose UND was because of his recruiting trip to Minn. Remember, this was during the fall when Forney plays football, so if he was caught in the bar he would've been suspended for the rest of the season, and taking him to a bar and putting his eligibility in jeopardy may have weighed on his decision to come to UND.
-
Wow, you really are desperate aren't you.
-
It isn't so much the coaches telling the kids to run the score up, its more the players. If you're a third or fourth line guy who doesn't see the ice a whole lot, and are fighting for your spot on the varsity, are you going to not try your hardest? No, you'll bust your ass whenever you get on the ice. 26-0, however, is a little out of hand.

I'm mearly going by skill, and in my honest opinion, Klein is not in the same class as those aforementioned players. I totally understand where you're coming from, and I agree that it would be a different situation for him if he played for one of the top 4 prestige programs in the state. But I'm saying that if it had nothing to do with his parents, school, and all those other non-hockey factors, he would have to make some steps in the off-season to becoming a player who would make an impact for a junior team. However, you say that junior teams have been in talks with him, so my opinion of him as a player so I may be wrong.
-
If that is true, then I'd say that there is a 100% possibility that Klein will go to Red River next year. If Mihulka, Weisgarber, Galt and both Campbells are still playing high school, Klein will be too.
-
Before we start knocking Toews, lets remember that he is still 17 years old and could very well still be playing junior hockey.
