Home ice? Just because the game is played in Grand Forks? How easily you forget that Fargo is an hour away and is a very easy drive. If you would've noticed Saturday, the crowd was about equal for both teams. I even commented to a friend how full South's student section looked and he agreed.
-
It also shows when someone would vote for himself as coach of the year.
-
I'm pretty sure that you can send in the broken stick and receive a new one free.
-
Agreed. Bismarck could be in the game if they get a quick goal and Red River comes out flat like they did last year against them. But I'd be surprised if that happened. Nonetheless, I'm looking foreward to watching Hillman play.
-
I'll end with this- go around the east region and ask which team they like to beat the most. The answer will be a resounding Fargo South. The reason why? They have by far the cockiest fans (parents especially). When I was in Fargo recently for the Red River-South hockey game, afterwards I went to a restaurant after the game, where I met some people who had no ties to any Fargo high schools, just fans of athletics in general. They told me that they were glad Red River beat South that night because they thought South parents and fans had a feeling of always being above everyone else. I'm sure people on this board will also think this is true.

I agree with you here, Wilbur, but will happen when Red River puts up 40+ shots against him? My guess is a Red River win about 6-0. It's too bad Hillman isn't on a better team to show everyone how good he actually is. I am excited to see him play, though, my guess is the goals he gives up will be ones he has absolutely no chance at.

I'm not going to start this argument again, Dave. We've done it before and I don't want to do it again. The behavior of fans on both sides is equal, as much as you'd hate to believe that.
-
DaveK, why do you have to go out and say that? We all know that you hate everything about Grand Forks hockey, so why do need to go and say something like this that proves absolutely no point other than that you hate Grand Forks hockey.

MLS Soccer Team Name 86'd One Month After Being Unveiled
soohockey15 replied to MafiaMan's topic in UND Nickname
What is wrong with people? 1836 is offensive to Latino's? That's absolutely sickening. People need to stop being such pussies and grow up. I mean c'mon. Are there any Latin people going home and crying because a soccer (SOCCER) team is using a nickname that refers to a year that their army was defeated? Give me a break. Maybe if they didn't suck at fighting wars then this wouldn't be a problem... -
I don't know about you BooGs, but say if I was going to come on here and talk about myself, I don't think that I'd be that dumb to use my team and number. Do you think it's maybe someone poking fun at Jake Brown? If it actually is Brown, I would look him in the face and call him the dumbest man alive.

I think that in Marto's case it wasn't necessarily how many points he had but more what he did for the team. He single-handedly carried them throughout the postseason and, rightfully so, won Mr. Hockey and the State tourney MVP. Take Galt off South and they're still one of the top 3 teams in the state. Take Marto off Central and they may not even have made state.

I'd like to thank junior24 for this award. I really worked hard this high school season to make my views as clear as possible, and I really think that I came out on top. Thanks again, junior.

I feel that I need to clear the air about Lives-to-play-hockey-06. He does NOT play for the JV or Varsity team at Red River. Disregard all his comments about players on the team posting on here. That also is false. No players on the team have been warned by the coaching staff to stop posting on here. I'd be surprised if the coaches knew, let alone cared about what a couple of people think about high school hockey in North Dakota. Do not believe what he says, it is all false. Which brings me to my next point - I wonder what someone's motivation would be to put these obvious lies on here.

You never think that the Seahawks just choked when the pressure was on them? Hasselbeck threw a pretty sweet intercetption in the red zone, and if your defense can't stop Pittsburgh on a 3rd and 28, well, they deserve to get beat. Seattle played themselves out of the game with stupid penalties and Pittsburgh capitalized. What a surprise to hear Seattle fans bitching about the refs before they stop to think that they're boys forgot to show up in a big game.

Watch the replay. When the receiver puts his arms out, the d-back clearly hops back. The receiver's arms impeded with the d-back's ability to move. It was the right call. If you would've listened to the commentary, they explained the penalty very well. The rule was that if you do not tackle the person with the ball, it is a penalty. Hasselbeck went down on the blocker, so it was again the right call.

From what I hear, Spies pulled a muscle in his chest. He could've played (albeit in pain), but they didn't want to take any chances on him getting hurt against Jamestown.

Just got home from the Red River-North game...Riders won 9-0. The Riders controlled the whole game, outshooting North about 40-15 I'd say...North got awfully chippy at the end, throwing alot of cheap shots...I was impressed by the play of North goalie Justin Welk. The score doesn't indicate how he played. The Riders had alot of tap-in goals and Welk made a couple very nice saves; without him, this could've easily been a 14 or 15-0 game.
-
I expect to see a Rider victory as well. After the big win Saturday, I think the Riders will carry over the momentum and stick it to Central. Also, the games are ALOT better being played in Purpur. Much, much better atmosphere.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul

Red River over South in overtime, 4-3.
-
Throw out their highest scoring game and...they have 19 goals total, the same as North (minus Wahpeton). Lets see where the point totals are after the Wahpeton game. And they beat North, 3-0. Plus, they have been shut out only once, that being in a nonconference game. North has been shut out five times.
-
This debate was never about Central. Only the players from North. If you want my opinion on this stat, however, I'd be more than glad to give it to you.
-
In some cases, numbers do not provide proof of who is good or not, but in this case it does. Four players who are called by some to be some of the top players in the state should be leading their team to victories. Its not like they're all playing on seperate lines with a bunch of kids who cant skate. I don't know North's exact line combinations, but if two out of three kids on the line are either Klein, Klenow, Bombenger, or Fischer, then they should be producing something that resembles an offense, which they clearly have not. I'm sure these kids are talented players (not great, great players make people around them better) and I did nothing to question their character. My guess is that 95% of the people who post on this board played sports in high school, which would then constitue playing in front of a crowd. My point is this- these players have done nothing to show me that they are top level players in the state of North Dakota. Top level players lead their teams to victories against teams that aren't terrible. Winning games includes one key element- scoring goals. To show my point (and using ND Pride's method) I went through and looked at everyone's goals scored statistic, throwing out the highest single game total. And you know what I found? North is tied for fewest goals in the state in non-Wahpeton games (19). I'm not calling them bad players, I'm just showing you the reason why I think that these players are nothing special and should not be talked about as being tops in the state. And as for the question of them making the tournament and select teams every year I ask this - If they are so good to be making these teams every year, why is North 4-10 and they are producing very little? PS- And just for fun, why dont you (ND Pride) start putting YOUR name at the end of posts, to show everyone where you're coming from.
-
But it doesn't make them that good, either.
