  1. That may be true, but I have a hard time believing Fox Sports North will show the UND-BU over the Mich-Wisc game. I bet Senser's has ESPNU so that will be the place to watch the game Friday night.
  2. Actually, we tied the first year. 4-4
  3. I believe the score was POI 7, SS.com 5. Shots were about 70-20 in favor of POI. Stuckinfargo kept us in the game.
  4. If Espn does sell some games to Fox, I wouldn't count on them showing UND-BU instead of Mich-Wisc.
  5. Can someone say definitively whether Minnesota or Cornell gets the final #1 seed? Who wins the tie-breaker if they are tied for 4th in PWR?
  6. I'm assuming game time is 12:15. Someone let me know if I'm wrong.

    Final Five

If it truly rotated sites, your logic would make perfect sense. I think the complaining comes in because it has been in the Twin Cities most years in the past and is scheduled there every year for the foreseeable future, so the Gophers are consistently reaping the advantage year-in and year-out. St. Paul is the best place to have it, but whether that means St. Paul should get it every year is debatable. Personally, I'm fine with it staying in St. Paul, but Gopher fans should at least understand the frustration other fans might have when the Gophers get to play in front of thousands of their home fans every single year. Gophers fans shouldn't have to apologize, but should at least acknowledge the advantage.
  8. I'm tired of the "Xcel is not home-ice for the Gophers" routine. Yes, we all know it's not technically their home ice, but it certainly gives them a home-ice-like advantage. I realize the X is NHL sized ice as opposed to Olympic size, and I realize that they don't always get last change. However, they get to sleep in their own bed, they don't have to travel, and they have the support of the vast majority of the crowd. I understand that ticket sales are maximized by holding it at the X, and I undersand that the the league needs to make money and all the member schools benefit from the league being strong...and I'm not even advocating changing the venue, but let's at least call a spade a spade. Gopher fans certainly don't need to apoligize for it, but please refrain from the "quit whining" comments because I'm pretty sure the whining by many Gopher fans would be deafening if the wcha permanently moved the final 5 out of the twin cities.
  9. I know nothing about womens hockey, but I was disappointed to read in the paper today that UND couldn't land the Marvin girl from Warroad who won Ms. Hockey. Because UND has not proven anything on the womens level and has limited scholarships, I realize landing blue-chippers is extremely difficult. But I think given the family connections, that is one blue-chip player UND at least had a chance to land, but failed to do so.
  10. They must grow it pretty strong in SE Minnesota.
  11. So much for all the "turning point" talk after last night's game.
  12. I've heard that rumor about Michigan too. However, I believe they all have exceptions for conference games (as you mentioned) and for tournament games as well. So bowl games in football would be excluded, as would NCAA tournament games and invitational tournaments.
  13. True, but they wore those ugly black pants with the green home jersies for a couple seasons and they still sometimes wear black pants on the road.
  14. If I'm not mistaken, white jersey, green helmet and green breezers were worn in the '97 NC game, but white jersey, black helment and black breezers were worn in the '00 NC game.
  15. Cheesemover, any chance you can pull in the feed?
  16. I hear that the local Anchorage station is televising the Saturday UND v. UAA game. Anyone know if it will be available on satellite for Joe Senser's to pick up the feed?
  17. I thought it was cool the first time it was done (Mich at Mich State), but now...<yawn>. I really don't care if Wisconsin does it for the HOF game, but I think it's a bad idea to have the Frozen 4 at Ford Field. A football stadium is a terrible venue for a hockey game. I think we can all remember what happened the last time the Frozen 4 venue was chosen for publicity (Anaheim).
  18. On Friday night, I watched at home with my 30" and the 1st period was great and then it got gradually worse to the point of unwatchable in the 3rd. I went to Senser's Roseville on Saturday night and it was even pixalating and cutting in and out there. Not good. However, I understand that the Bloomington Senser's has a bigger dish and they never have problems.
  19. That's an excellent point. We've been relatively short on numbers the past two years when the Sioux were in St. Paul and I can see the bottom falling out if the Sioux don't make it this year. I live in the Twin Cities, so I can be there regardless. But I'd rather not play at all if there is only 5 ss.com guys skating around against 20 poi.com guys. I mean, I need some exercise but I don't need my heart to explode.
  20. I'll play again. I'm pretty sure I can get the same goalie we've had the past two years. I'll send him an email and report back.
  21. I really give you props for being so optimistic. You have some good analysis, but in the end, it doesn't address one simple and (I believe) fatal flaw -- who will score the goals? I've been wondering this since before the season started and there are no answers into February. The only way I can stay even remotely positive is that I'm not immensely impressed with the cream of the WCHA this year. Denver, CC, and Wisco all look good, but they do not look as good as some of the top WCHA teams from years past.
  22. Yes, UND is not going to have a national contender every single year. It's reality, but that doesn't make it any less painful this year.
