  1. No guess work involved The Pens need to build a solid D quickly before all that young forward talent becomes free agents. They can do part of it through free agency but will also have to do it from within.
  2. Based on the article within this link it appears that young Ogopogo and the Islanders disagreed on whether he was ready for the NHL or required AHL seasoning. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=210193&hubname= To the several individuals you who jumped all over me about a week ago when I stated that the odds of Gollygoski going Pro were greater. Would you like some wine to go with the crow you're dining on.
  3. Jake Gardiner??? - Who's a D-man I believe
  4. Tickets are scarce and extremely pricey so I watched with the crazy crowd at city hall. The atmosphere within the city is absolutely electric.
  5. Sorry Taz, but Pronger is a repeat performer and was extremely lucky to get only one game. I guess he has a free ticket to end someones career to a consussion or broken neck before he will get any substantial time off. The one game suspension also sends a bad message, as Ottawa's third and fourth liners could take out out one of the Duck's top players if the opportunity presents itself. It would be worth a one game suspension to take out a Selanne and Niedermayer with an elbow to the chin. The NHL couldn't give the offender any more than one game after this decision.
  6. You must have missed the recent articles from TSN that were posted on this site. Specifically there are strong indications that Wade Redden is going to Edmonton via a trade during the off season. Specifically, his mother passed away recently and he would like to be closer to home to help his father out, and Edmonton is as close as you can get to Lloydminster Saskatchewan. The trade will also help Ottawa remain within their salary cap while picking up some decent prospects from Edmonton. If the trade is successful, there will be a very big vacancy in Ottawa at D
  7. So what prize are they playing for, bleached perms?
  8. Depending on the type of issues they always have the option of trading him for a D-man who is willing and ready to step in right away. But who in their right mind would pass up the opportunity to play on a team that is going to win the Cup in the very near term.
  9. Sure there will have to be rehab and it may start with a stint in the minors. However, I also believe that the top D-man in the WCHA for any given year is ready to step directly into most NHL team lineups. How much minor league time did the likes of Carle, Preissing, Suter and Leopold have over the past several years? You are correct that money will likey decide the outcome anyway.
  10. Absolutely, Look at how many signed D-men the Pens have in the D-man section, for those who don't want to read the whole analysis it is only 3. Look at the quality of the unsigned D-men (most of whom are unrestricted free agents) and consider what Pittsburgh greatest weakness was all season. They would like to be able to sign some top caliber free agent D-men unfortunately every off season very few become available and those who are typically demand top dollar. Therefore, it is stating the obvious that the team is going to have to look for solutions from within. Specifically, they have the top WCHA D-man Golly and the top D-man in the QMJHL Letang ready and able to go at a fraction of the cost for free agents who may or may not be available. I don't smoke but I do like my beer and Scotch. What are you smoking that you think they wouldn't try and sign him under the circumstances. Cheers.
  11. I would say the odds are about the same for Gollygoski based on this TSN article: http://www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/columnists/...me=fantasy_news
  12. Were there any openings in the USHL Head Office? It is a business after all.
  13. Some familiar names from the past several WCHA seasons. Congrats Jason! http://www.theuhl.com/press.aspx?rid=2785
  14. Your question mark speaks volumes and is probably your most accurate and acceptable post to date.
  15. True, and no one is saying that Marto won't be a good DI player. However, unless Lee leaves who would Marto displace from current D rotation. As it is, I think we all agree that Genoway is going to likely play forward to accomodate Lapointe.
  16. I know Gregoire is an 08 but earlier in this thread some had left him off of their 08 list and maybe they have added him since. We have been through the LOI argument before and it is difficult to imagine how UND will fit Marto onto the the team unless Brian Lee really is going Pro. Or perhaps he will be a red shirt for the upcoming season?
  17. Once again, I see several of you posting that Marto is on the team and Hamilton is gone. Are some of you connected enough to know this is fact or are these your fantasy rosters? Some of you have alredy forgotten to add Gregoire for next season.
  18. Put him on the same line as Hextall when the Sioux play DU and there won't be any problems for UND whatsoever.
  19. I would be willing to bet DU originally offered Gregoire a full scholarship for the upcoming season and perhaps they can't honor that offer. In which case the kid has decided to look elsewhere. If this turns out to be the case, perhaps this Donald (or should I say Daffy) Duck character should think more carefully before he writes about schools who over recruit. A buddy in Winnipeg just told me on the phone that he thinks Gregoire has committed to UND so now we await the official good news.
  20. Let's see if we can put this into perspective for you. Based on your posts to date your passion appears to be chasing jockstraps, and perhaps you are very talented at it and ready to move on to the pros. If I were to offer you an incentive laden contract that could earn you several million dollars a year to leave school and pursue that passion professionally would you turn it down? Hint, turning it down would be dumb!
  21. Furthermore, an LOI only guarantees financial aid for one academic year, not a scholarship per the link info. In order to get that financial aid Marto would have to attend and complete that full academic year. I guess he could come in as a walk-on but 9 d-men seems like a crowd to me. http://www.hsbaseballweb.com/loi_freq_questions.htm
  22. Where and when was it confirmed that Marto will be part of next years roster, and if so could you please provide the link. The reason I ask is because I doubt there is room for him if Lee stays.
  23. I am disappointed that you would care enough about what is written on another teams site to generate a thread out of it. Clearly the other teams didn't follow the Sioux close enough to see that it was the D who was doing all the scoring while the O and T were either injured or playing elsewhere. The story of Duncan's entire hockey career has been no respect and I honestly believe that, like Martin St Louis, he enjoys proving all the doubters wrong each and every season. Other teams can only dream of having a player with a heart as big as Dunc's.
