HMMM, sounds like your friend my have watched some of the exceptions involving either the Goophers, Badgers or BC because I have watched all of the available games and for the most part the defensive part of the game has not been the problem. Unlike past Sioux teams, this team has been challenged with respect to scoring and I think the consenus has been that some of the larger forwards need to start driving to the net.

Great Post and am I jealous. The highlight of my year comes next weekend when I will be sitting in the front row right next to the Sioux bench for the series against CC.

However, at the end of the day such a move will have little impact on the hockey world in North America as there are a now a total of 56 Major Junior teams in Canada with an expansion coming up next season. Therefore, the league will still absorb at least 60 of the best US Junior players as well as 60 of the best European players. Furthermore, the quality of the US Junior Hockey League keeps getting better and it will just be a matter of time before players are jumping straight from US Junior hockey to the Pros on a regular basis. So if anything the move may help maintain the quality of NCAA hockey and help ensure that the very best local players stay at home to play either junior or college hockey.

Thanks schmidtdoggydog, I enjoyed reading Stafford's perspective on things. Interestingly enough one of his predictions in his 3 Jan post came true as the Canadian National newspaper The Globe and Mail states that it was a first period hit by Sidney Crosby that caused Ovechkins shoulder injury.

He is a special player and if he doesn't bring Sioux fans out of their seats nothing will. Oh I forgot, we have to remain seated.

Exactly, the Canadians have met the Russians in Championship games many times and the Canadians have had to live with Russians who dive to take penaltys. Therefore, there is no sympathy for Russian players, especially a disrectful showboater like Ovechkin.

Hey of course they can't sing, they're Canadian hockey players. Just glad we didn't have to listen to the choir boys from Russia.

My second prediction and wish came true too. The Canadians knocked the kiss- blowing Ovechkin out of the game with a shoulder injury

I don't know if it is just this radio station but I have never heard so much crowd noise at the new arena. It reminds me of broadcasts from the old arena and it sounds great!

Five minute major to Russia for highsticking. I knew Canada would have a field day with this undisciplined Russian team. I hope they keep running the score because the Russians deserve it.

I doubt he will take any heat at all from Canadians. First of all I believe he was drafted by a US team, the TriCity Americans. The rest of the WHL will like the move because they won't have to play against him. His family and friends in Manitoba will like the move because they can come and watch him play on weekends.

I think his career will turn out just like Jagr's, another kiss blowing showboater. Ovechkin has lots of talent and will tally plenty of Pro points, but in the end he will move from team to team as he annoys owners, fans and teammates alike. I wish they had both pursued figure skating and left the game to the real players of the best game on the planet. Then their kiss blowing would be understandable. Heck they could have given them to each other.

Maybe portions of the post were exagerations or high expectations; however; you can't convince me that Goligoski looked better than Lee. Goligoskis errors in judgement contributed to an opposition goal in each and every game. And how old is he again and exactly where is he playing.

I hope the Canadian D-Man Phaneuf knocks the kiss-blowing Fag-Ov off of the planet.

What fantastic news. Toews is supposed to the second best 17 year old Canadian forward after Crosby. It looks like the Sioux will be contributing to both the US and Canadian teams for next years World Juniors.

Actually, the winner of the US vs Sweden game will have to play the Ruskies.

I guess they will be partying as they just smacked the Finns 8-1
