Canada wants nothing short of gold at the world juniors and Toews could be there best forward two years from now. Therefore I don't believe for a minute that he would be overlooked for going the NCAA route. If there hadn't been an NHL strike Zajac would have been on this years Team Canada. It used to be that Major Junior was the fastest and best route to the NHL but that is no longer the case. A player who is very similar to Toews, Jason Spezza, was thought to be a sure fire step right from Major Junior into the NHL player and he still found himself playing in the AHL most of the time. Then there is Zach Parise who thanks to his two years of NCAA was ready to jump straight into New Jerseys lineup if there hadn't been a strike. I am sure that Toew's parents are very well informed and have talke about the subject with none other than J.P. Parise at SSM so I remain optimistic.

You need to watch him in a Sioux Game. For a freshman he is the complete package and as the season is progressing his assist total is balancing out with his scoring. I think it says something about a freshman when they have been their top ten team's most consistent offensive weapon.

Maybe someone from the Tri-City Americans or the league is just creating these rumors to get the kid to change his mind. For one It doesn't make sense to change the content of US players in major junior when US based teams have been added to both the Ontario and Western branches of the league. Futhermore, the Toews are nothing like the Lindros family. They are thinking about the development of their kids, not their Pro career. The likelihood of little brother being drafted by the same junior team is very remote. Therefore, I maintain that UND is the best fit because it is the only way they can play together and be closer to home. I still think UND has the best shot at landing both brothers.

Ellsworth stopped 35 shots as MTU downs Denver 3-0. I just watched the third period and MTU looked like a different team then the one the Sioux played in the first half of the season.
