  1. I don't know if it would require knocking the stadium down entirely. Assuming the University ever needs to do this it is because there is a need to provide seating for 20,000+ spectators for football games. I'd leave the west side bleacher seating intact, as is, and designate it for students, visitors, and general admission. Complete the full bowl or horseshoe, whatever is required, around the stadium with reserved bucket seating and with luxury boxes on the east and north sides. In an outdoor stadium, luxury boxes will generate much more revenue than in a domed stadium.
  2. I don't see why it is not an option to put synthetic turf in Memorial Stadium and play soccer in there. If..........IF UND football ever does outgrow the Alerus, Memorial could be rennovated to add full bowl seating to accomodate upwards of 20,000 fans, similar to the University of Montana's stadium. I still don't understand why the swimming program was not moved to the Wellness Center when it was built. The Hyslop should be converted to a a building devoted mostly to tennis, so the sport can be moved on-campus. If we do want the Big Sky, a men's tennis program will have to be added. I don't know what to think about baseball and softball, I'm a Lacrosse fan.
  3. Really? So if you are a season ticket holder for NDSU football and you miss one game, do you think they count the attendance by the the ticket they sold and mailed to you in July, or do you really think that they take note of the absence of your "butt in the seat"? Odds are the Fargodome/NDSU does it the same way that virtually all NCAA institutions do it. They print up a ticket for every seat in the building and keep track of how many are sold (or in NDSU's case, given away). "Paid attendance" is pretty much the norm.
  4. I'll be damaged. My wife has painted 10 ft. Fighting Sioux logos both in my home office and in my farm-shop. If UND is forced to change the name, is the NCAA gonna buy my wife new paint and pay her for her time?
  5. I'm planning on going to the football game in St. Cloud. I'm a season ticket holder and I'm wondering the best way to go about getting tickets. I'm wondering if UND gets an alotment and I should call the UND ticket office, the SCSU ticket office, or Ticketmaster and ask for the visitors section. I want to be in the same section as the other Sioux fans. Thanks.
  6. I'm looking for 4 tickets to any of the following games. Sat. Dec. 1 vs. US 18s (exhibition) Sat. Dec. 9 vs. Wisconsin Fri. Jan. 12 vs. Alaska Anchorage Fri. Feb. 9 vs. Minnesota St. Fri. Feb. 16 vs. Minnesota-Duluth Offering $30 per ticket in the lower bowl for the above games. pm or email: jci@invisimax.com
  7. I wonder if Bubba is gonna freak out like the last time his team played in the Alerus? Seriously, I think UMD is kind of a disappointment this year. I expected them to be one of the top 3 teams in the NCC this year. The bye week couldn't have come at a better time this year, as far as Manke is concerned and Taylor Murray on the offensive line. At home, coming off that heartbreaker to UNO, I expect UND to win by 21.
  8. Seattle U. would be just the type of school that the WCC would be looking for if they wanted to expand.
  9. It is a huge can of worms the NCAA has opened with this ridiculous policy. Lets just say hypothetically that the season finished with UND as the #1 seed and GVSU as the #3 seed. (I know UNO beat us and that won't happen but bear with me). Now lets say that USD gets in as the #4 seed and Winona as the #6 seed. So Winona would get a home game while USD has to travel to Grand Valley. It gives the weakest team in the playoff field the unfair advantage of hosting. Had UND not lost to UNO and went into the final week of the season #1 in the region, teams ranked 4-6 would be fighting it out to get the #6 seed because they know theyd get their first game at home. What would the 4 and 5 seeds think about that if it ever played out. If this ever happened, half of the Northwest Region would be pissed at the NCAA. While meant to penalize UND the enforcement of this insane policy could corrupt the entire playoff system and penalize every lower seeded team that isn't fortunate enough to draw UND as an opponent.
  10. Hammersmith, can you expand on your statement about the Northeast Conference and Pioneer Leauge. I know the Pioneer is non-scholarship and doesn't participate in the playoffs, and isn't the Northeast limited scholarship? Are they going full scholarship and trying to get an autobid or something? Also another question for you or star2city or someone that knows all the procedures and rules for the NCAA divisions. How come the GWFC would have to take an autobid from an existing conference? Couldn't they just do away with one of the at-large bids when the conference meets the autobid criteria membership-wise? The GWFC is one of the top 3 I-AA football conferences, and is only going to get stronger when/if UND joins. Or is it a by-law or something that half of the playoff field must come from autobids and the other half from at-large bids?
  11. Oops!
  12. Fargo is definately a UND town!
  13. Over on D2football.com, there is a thread with a copy of an e-mail sent by USD to its students. It is a Q & A survey regarding a DI move. It asks the obvious questions like conference, cost, facilities, etc. To me, every answer comes off as overly pro-moving DI. Sounds more like an advertisement in favor of a move than anything. And they've hired a consulting firm. LINK I think UND may have a partner in this move.
  14. I think for the most part, you can usually get tickets a few days before most games, depending on the game of couse. Most likely will be very high up in the upper bowl however. I've never had trouble save for maybe UMTC, Wisco, and Denver
  15. I could see the Montana schools, especially U of M, threatening to make a play for the WAC the next time Big Sky expansion comes around unless the other presidents take a hard look at adding a school or two that is an attractive peer institution to them, academically, athletically, and geographically. Who will be available in the next 5 years that fits that criteria?
  16. No, there is no concern here. UND played the best they've played this season since the UNI game. After Manke went down and Belmore started filling in, the team played better in every week leading up to this game, and even better yesterday with Manke back at the helm. UND was #1 in the region and UNO was #2. We lost by one point due to a 4th quarter comback to the #2 team in the region that we always seem to have trouble with regardless of the year we are having and in a place where we haven't won a game in 10 years. Regarding the FGs instead of going for it, I think you have to do that in an important game like this when points may be at a premium. Our defense showed no signs during the first half that they could stop UNO's offense at all, regardless of where UNO was starting their drive from. Regarding some of the play-calling, I think that always has been and always will be an issue with Mussman as OC.
  17. This team is so much different with Manke leading them. He has looked good. The interception was overthrown but was also an unbelievable catch by the DB. I'd like to see them get Chappel involved more.
  18. My opinion is that if Manke plays, and is healthy, this is a very special UND team. With Belmore at the helm, we are the same as we have been for several years, solid defense, efficient offense that trys not to lose the game offensively. UNO has been a thorn in UND's side for many years, but like PCM says, we're due. Manke getting the start gives UND a dimension that they haven't had the past few weeks. I think Belmore is talented and has done alot of good things for UND football in the past, but the other players on the team seem to respond better to Manke, he is more of a leader. Dare I say, kind of along the same lines as Kelby Klosterman. I know that UNO has a system that has been successful, but they lost alot of key offensive players from last year. I like our linebackers chances against their running game, which has been dominating. But they too have solid linebackers, and I think that UND's running game will be kept in check in this game. All the more reason for Manke to get the start and play well. And I think he will. UND 21 UNO 17
  19. Still looking for 4 tickets for the following Saturday hockey game. Sat. Dec. 9 vs. Wisconsin I'd prefer to find seats in the lower-bowl. Offering $30/ticket for seats in rows A-K of the lower bowl. pm or email: jci@invisimax.com
  20. Yeah, Winona at number 4 makes me laugh my aff off. After seeing them play, I expect USD, Northwood, Augustana, and Duluth to finish the season ahead of them in the Regional Rankings. I doubt there will be any "earned access" for an NSIC team this year.
  21. Attendance was 11,463. Average so far this year is 10,268. I don't like Belmore.
  22. That's what the press release said
  23. I don't know how significant the audience for such a game in SD would be. I assume alot of South Dakota sports fans are like me, and when I watch college sports on the weekend, I am intrigued by matchups between teams that are close or local to me. Notre Dame is on TV every weekend and I like to watch major college ball, but if they are playing the same time the Gophers have a TV game, I'll generally watch the Gopher game just because they are from Minnesota, which is right next to me (even though I hate the Gophers). I watch either or both Montana or Montana St. football games nearly every weekend, regardless of who they play. Not because I'm a fan of either school, just because they're on, and their schools from our region of the country. That makes it more entertaining than a game that is usually on ESPN74 between San Jose St. and Louisiana Tech.
