We've been getting a handful of votes in a few of the significant polls since the season started. I wonder how much a win against ISU would help us creep closer to the Top 25. Apparently, our reputation as a Top 10 DII program has given us some steam with the voters so far this season.

Even though we are not playing a conference schedule in Volleyball or Soccer this season, I thought it would be interesting to keep track of the records of the GWC members this season. VOLLEYBALL North Dakota 12-0 South Dakota 11-1 Houston Baptist 10-1 Texas-PanAm 3-4 Utah Valley 2-5 New Jersey Tech 2-6 SOCCER Utah Valley 4-0-1 Houston Baptist 4-1 South Dakota 3-4 North Dakota 3-5 New Jersey Tech 1-6 It should be noted that every game that Houston Baptist has played this season in both Volleyball and Soccer have been against DI opposition. Impressive. They are in the same transitional stage as UND. Soccer was mentioned as a sport that that the GWC would not sponsor, however they are giving out Player-of-the-Week honors so that is why I included it. Perhaps something has changed.

I agree. But, Watkins is a bit banged up now too (hamstring), so maybe if Saporu is healthy that's who's spot he takes and Watkins plays more in nickel situations. I can't see them taking time away from Hawkins with the way that he has played thus far.

I have been impressed with SDSU since they moved. While NDSU has an extremely successful transition, I have been more impressed with SDSU given the fact that as far as football goes, they weren't a world-beater in DII. Their women's basketball team has been the most successful ex-NCC team to move to DI if you ask me. I like to think that it just means that the top half of the NCC, pre-2002, were very very good in DII. I don't think that it is a cooincidence that UNC is the former NCC team of the first three to move that has struggled so badly. UNC, at best, is the 5th most significant university in Colorado. NDSU, SDSU, UND, and USD could all be considered "flagships", and really are the only thing going in North Dakota and South Dakota. I think that has done wonders for recruiting. When it all comes down to it, the players for any given school are the reason for whatever type of success is acheived.
