  4. Other than that awful two week bye, and the fact that we only have 10 games scheduled as it is, I'm kind of questioning whether or not this would be a good game for North Dakota to have at this point in the transition. Granted, NMSU could be viewed as a somewhat vulnerable FBS opponent to alot of the top 25 FCS teams, but one has to keep in mind that right now, our roster is probably around 75% made up of players recruited to play DII football, albeit a high level of DII football. On the other hand, if it happened, it would be a great experience for the players and coaches, there would be a bye week afterward to rest and recover, and it would be great exposure if we competed well against the Aggies. I wonder what Coach Mussman's opionion would be? Food for thought anyways..........
  5. New era, same old feeling

  7. Sorry, I got company in the middle of it and actually missed most of the show.
  8. Coach Mussman was just asked if we'd continue to play SCSU, and he said that after this year, not unless we change the nickname............
  9. I ditched my laptop, and got it going on a desktop now, must be an equipment problem with my laptop. Sound is still bad. Audio only on one side, and static in the background, volume is cranked too. Also glad it's on. I haven't been able to hear it since they switched it over to 1440 from 96.1.
  10. Nice to know. But just like the volleyball game last night, I can't access it.
  11. Interview with Danny Freund from the St. Cloud Times
  12. From today's Las Cruces Newspaper.....
  13. Apparently, there is a format change regarding the coach's show this year. Just heard Sweeney mention that "Sioux Sports Extra" will debut next Sunday at 10:30 p.m. hosted by Jody Norstedt. This week's guest will be Chris Mussman.
  14. 2nd correction of my own post: NMSU does not have Sept. 27 off.
  15. Correction of my own post: Nicholls plays on Thursday, Oct. 2, so I guess they don't share that open weekend. Also, NMSU has two bye weeks in a row from Sept. 27 to Oct. 4, just like us (although ours are Oct. 4-Oct 11). Maybe there is a better chance of this happening than I was giving credit for. Still, I'd think that if Sam Houston is at all interested, they'd get the deal. They count and they're closer.
  16. At this point, I'd think it is highly unlikely. From everything I've read, NMSU has bowl aspirations this season so I'd guess they'll do everything in their power to bring in a counter, that is if they bring in anyone at all. They do still have 11 games on the slate, after all. They could simply bring Nicholls back on Oct. 4 since both teams are open that day, although it appears that is the day that many Southland teams are keeping open as their bye week prior to the start of conference play. Same goes for Sam Houston St. which would be much closer. For UND to get in there, (if NMSU just absolutely wants a game), I'd think that both Nicholls and Sam Houston would both have to decline, or UND would have to offer to come for an extremely low guarantee.
  17. The Great West Conference is handing out Player of the Week honors to student-athletes of schools that belong to the conference. Although none from UND were selected this week, the first awards were handed out today. Link
  18. There has been some debate in recent years as to the true capacity of the Alerus. Prior to the 2006 season, both the Alerus center and UND listed the capacity at 13,500. Since 2006, the Alerus has continued to use the 13,500 number, while the University reports capacity at 12,283. I wish there would be some clarification on the subject. One reason given in the email to myself and UND92,96 is that UND doesn't count attendence in the suites. But that only accounts for ~324 tickets, so there is still a gap of about 1,000 between the two figures. I highly doubt they'd issue 1,000 SRO tickets for any game, and I don't know what "ADA risers" they're talking about. It certainly can't be the ones in the South endzone, because then fans would actually be sitting in the endzone (that might be a pretty good seat though ) Anyways, just trying to answer your question about that number that was used for that game. Perhaps UND got the attendance figures from the Alerus until 2006, and then they took over counting? I would really think that 6:00 p.m. starts would be ideal for Saturday games, unless of course there also happens to be hockey that samed day, but that doesn't happen very often, especially now with no playoff games for a few years. The 1:00 start doesn't allow people who work on Saturdays to attend. Also alot of people might like to spend the last few remaining pleasant fall Saturdays outdoors. Then there is hunting to compete with later in the season. With a later start, maybe a few folks could get their hunting in during the morning and afternoon and then be inclined to head to the game. Some fans like myself drive 100+ miles to get there, and the 1:00 start pretty much blows the whole day for those of us that do that. Evening games would also probably boost beer sales, creating for a more raucous crowd . I know some people don't like the fact that at the REA, is almost like going to a night club, but an atmosphere like that would really help football attendance I think.
