  1. Well, I guess we're just "lucky" then...........................
  2. Luckily the lines will be alot shorter in the future since Minnesota won't be coming back to Grand Forks..............................
  3. I'm shocked you went into another forum other than the Hockey or Nickname ones. Do ya think maybe the poor attendance at basketball games has anything at all to do with a crappy schedule that is the result of no conference affilitation?
  4. The conference affiliation issue with the NCHC, Big Ten, and WCHA means fewer games for UND with Minnesota and Wisconsin. The nickname issue means NO games with Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  5. He was asked on the coach's show this week. He said "no comment". He'll probably issue another super double secret email shortly....................
  6. I would just like to see Minnesota and Wisconsin on the schedule at some point. Once a year, every other year, whether it is in Grand Forks, Minneapolis, or Madison I don't care. With the sanctions in place it'll only happen once in a blue moon in the regionals or frozen four, possibly thousands of miles away..................
  7. In DII, we would still be under sanctions. In DIII, we would still be under sanctions. The sanctions apply to the hockey team too.
  8. I'd rather have JohnboyND7 cast his vote on this matter than about half of the members of this forum....................
  9. You are wrong. Both Minnesota's and Wisconsin's policies specifically mention the sanctions list.
  10. Doesn't matter if they are hypocrites or not. They have been consistent in applying their policies to UND. Wisconsin played us in softball and basketball when we were off the sanctions list. Iowa agreed to a home-and-home in women's basketball. Once Carlson's law went into effect, negotiations ended and games were cancelled.
  11. Florida St. is not on the hostile and abusive list, and they are not under NCAA sanctions. North Dakota is.
  12. They will be once UND is jettisoned from the league and they have an even number of teams.................
  13. I believe unless the NCAA has or will grant the NCHC some sort of exemption, they will not have an AQ for the first two years of play, so in 2013-14 and 2014-15 all NCHC teams will have to rely on an at-large berth to get into the post season. Newly formed one-sport conferences must wait two years to be eligible for an AQ. Perhaps this case is a little different since UND, CC, Denver, SCSU, UMD, and UNO have already been together for multiple years. Hell, I don't know why I even brought it up now, but that's the way the rules read in the NCAA manual..........................
  14. I love the sport of baseball. But I'd be interested to see the drag that the sport has on UND's bottom line. It was different in the NCC when 9 of 10 teams were within a few hours drive of Grand Forks so that weather was not nearly as big a factor. It's kind of like a farmer near Dickinson trying to plant sugar beets just because they do around Fargo...................
  15. I like the idea of having a ton of students in the dorms too.................. But then I think of all the things I do online today that I didn't do 15 years ago when I was in college: -I pay most of my bills -I pay my taxes -I do 70% of my shopping, both personal and business -I renew my license plates -I read the newspaper -I visit Siouxsports.com -I get my hunting license -I watch TV -I bought a car -I sold a car -I bought a tractor -I sold a tractor -I bought Fighting Sioux tickets -I booked a flight -I reserved a hotel room -I got my paycheck I'm thinking that "online students" are not only going to continue to rise at UND, but they will at NDSU, Valley City, Aaker's Business College, Minnesota, Arizona St., Kansas, Conneticut, blah, blah, blah. The impressive thing is that UND has been a leader in this area............. We are ahead of the curve...................
  16. Not gonna happen................. Including the new members of North Dakota and Southern Utah, the Big Sky has 4 total members that sponsor the sport. UND would be far better off cutting baseball and diverting the resources elseware......................
  17. INTERJECTING MY MODERATOR DUTIES. FEEL FREE TO MAKE YOUR POINT OR OPINION KNOWN, BUT PLEASE DO SO WITHOUT THE PERSONAL ATTACKS OR NAME-CALLING.
  18. It likely will be a landslide............ And like Berreiro, I pity the fool that supports this measure.........................
  19. Maybe the AG could argue to the NCAA that UND "wants to comply", but the State just won't let us.......................
  20. In light of recent developments, I felt compelled to point out that of the 20 teams to make the FCS playoffs this season, 5 teams won an away game.....................
  21. I think your entire argument is based on innuendo as well. -Saying that Montana and MSU may go to the Mountain West so the Big Sky needs UND is innuendo -Saying UND brings TV interest is innuendo, because thanks to our hockey program and the NCHC, our current TV deal is dead in the water -Saying the WAC would instantly accept UND is innuendo -Saying a unanimous vote to expel UND is "not even theoretically possible" is complete innuendo I'm of the opinion that even with the anchor of the nickname around the athletic department, the chances that the Big Sky will expel UND from the leauge are not very high. But I would rather have the chances be zero. And I would like to see UND continue to play Minnesota and Wisco in hockey, I'd like to be able to attend football and women's hockey home games. I'd like to see the Gophers, Badgers, or Hawkeyes come to Grand Forks for women's basketball and/or volleyball, I'd like to see UND play the Gophers, Badgers, or Hawkeyes in men's basketball. So yes, there is alot of innuendo on both sides of the argument............ But the facts (not innuendo) are, that with the nickname and sanctions in place, there will be no home playoff games for football or women's hockey, and there will be no games in any sport, including men's hockey, with Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, or several other schools. Luckily, St. Cloud St, Nebraska-Omaha, Texas PanAm, and New Jersey Institute of Technology will probably be there for us..............................
  22. I'm actually a fan of Rob Port, but if you take anything he says on this subject as "facts", well then God help you. It is his opinion, and it just happens to fall in line with alot of people that really don't care one way or the other about the University as a whole, just a single aspect of it, or the "principle" of the the issue or what-have-you.......................
  23. The documentation also oulines what would be required to expel UND from the Big Sky. And the WAC is not an attractive alternative to the Big Sky. And what would give anyone the idea that the WAC wouldn't have the same problems with nickname that the Summit and the Big Sky have had?
