  1. One has to wonder how the 7 DI win "requirement" will hold up when the playoff field expands to 24 in a couple years....................
  2. Personally, I find it embarrassing if it is true that Saul Phillips makes twice as much as Brian Jones. Both have been on the job for about the same amount of time, had similar backgrounds before being head coaches, and both have had average at best success. The gap between the salaries of the South Dakota basketball coaches don't bother me nearly as much as the apparent one between North Dakota and NDSU. Neither ND school is a "basketball" school, but UND has always been more of one than NDSU. I'm not surprised by the football salaries so much. My bet is that if Lennon were still here he'd be making a hefty sum more than Mussman currently does. Stig and Bohl have each been at their program for a number of years and have proven track records. Glenn is a USD legend, a DII National Champion, a DI National Champion, and has FBS experience. Not suprising that USD was willing to fork over a good salary for him.
  3. Don't worry, I'm confident that BisonDan has the "actual figures"........................ I'm sure that he will enlighten us shortly...........................................
  4. Nov 14th: Crown College (EXHIBITION) Dec 5th: UMKC Jan 17th: Eastern Washington* Feb 14th: Sacramento State* Feb 16th: Northern Arizona* Jan 24th: @ Sacramento St.
  5. Well then I will say it....................
  6. Yep, they put that out about a month ago. Link
  7. Ya, sorry about that one........................... I'll look forward to having either a beer or a Coke with you in either Missoula or Grand Forks one day............................
  8. A dozen is all? Try spending some extended time in Eastern North Dakota........................... Seriously, remind me jodcon of your ties to UND. I beleive you live way out west and have children that have attended Montana. I've enjoyed reading your posts especially regarding the Big Sky and where you think North Dakota will fit in..............................
  9. Well, I'm right in the middle of ND so I've got 43 minutes to go!
  10. Eastern time zone fans will be Big Sky fans in 36 minutes.........................................
  11. In less than two hours, North Dakota will be a member of the Big Sky Conference.....................................................
  12. I had a great experience at UC Davis in 2009. Very nice campus and I thought it was beautiful stadium. All their fans were super nice. The game itself wasn't all that well attended, but the Davis student section was awesome (given what I'm used to over the past 3-4 years ) . They have a great Band-Uh!................that's what they refer to their band as if I recall correctly. We flew with the team and stayed in Old Sacramento. We did not have enough time exploring that area. Hope to do it again in the future.
  13. I plan to fit Missoula into the travel itinerary at some point. I'm a farmer so I am pretty busy during most of the football season. That's why most of our road trips fall within the last 3 games of the season. I am hoping it will be Bozeman this year (sorry jodcon ) but Greeley looks more doable. Next season we are planning on Northern Arizona, 2013 is back to UNC (which is why I want Bozeman badly this year), and 2015 is gonna be sunny San Luis Obispo for sure....................
  14. Forum is a notoriously frugal company. That's why I am still shocked that they are the first local station to go HD with their newcasts. You make a good point about them being able to "fall back" on North Dakota when they lost the radio rights to NDSU, but prior to NDSU's move to Hoak, Forum Com had the TV rights to both schools. What surprised me more was when they let NDSU radio go to Radio Fargo-Moorhead. Great move for NDSU, but RFM has been kicking the crap out of WDAY radio for years. The only thing that kept WDAY 970 relevent, IMO, was their 50 year old strangle-hold on NDSU sports. WDAY's move to HD kind of makes me think that they are gearing up to make a play for the NDSU TV rights again when they are available. I was quite pissed (and still am) when Radio Fargo-Moorhead dumped North Dakota for NDSU. I understand why they did, they are a Fargo based media group and NDSU is a big thing in Fargo, I just didn't like the way it was handled. The best thing about being on KFGO, is that everybody listens to that station, that is why it was valuable to UND and why it is now so valuable to NDSU. But I will say that since the change, WDAY has actually been a better partner for North Dakota as far as coverage. They air the weekly coach's show on Wednesday, Schlossman is on every Thursday night at 6:45, and they carry at least one game other than football or hockey each week during the season whether it be men's or women's basketball, volleyball, or women's hockey. That is very nice. Only problem is that WDAY gets about half the casual listeners as does KFGO.
  15. I think the point that siouxkid12 may have been trying to make was the fact that Forum Communication's TV stations are free Over-The-Air stations that everybody within range of their towers can view for no cost. They rely on advertising dollars alone to generate the income needed to cover their costs. Midcontinent on the other hand is a paid cable provider. In addition to the advertising they can sell, they can bank on X number of subscribers that pay a fee to watch their programming. My guess is that there are way more people paying to watch TV through Midco's services in the tri-state area than there are people watching Forum Com's 5 stations in North Dakota. Heck, probably close to half of the people that watch Forum Com's stations pay for it through Midco. Point is, Midco probably has more veiwers, makes more money, and therefore can pay more for the rights to televise UND sports.
  16. Sell Don't like our chances on the road against MSU or EWU Sell Questionable (at best) secondary in a pass happy league Sell The coach of the conference champ will get the honor, and I don't think that is in the cards this year for North Dakota. It'll go to either Walsh or Ash. My money is on Walsh. Sell North Dakota will be on the playoff bubble this year. If we do in fact get in (I presume we will) I'm guessing it'll be a tough draw. Sell The talent on this team are the underclassmen for the most part. One or two seniors may get a sniff. Sell Blacks would be for a change of pace, just like they are for the hockey, basketball, and softball teams.
  17. PSU will be a very tough game, but I think North Dakota should be favored. I will be very excited about a 2-1 start, and I also expect a 2-1 start. However 1-2 would not surprise me.
  18. Off subject, I plan on attending one away game this season, either Montana St. or Northern Colorado. More than likely it will be Greely due to work demands. I can't wait. The other away games I've been to for any North Dakota sports are Fargo, Minneapolis, St. Cloud, and Vermillion, and Davis, CA. I'm looking forward to exploring the west in the years to come.......................
  19. It is just a good feeling to know that in a little less than 4 hours, the long, boring, painful move to DI will be officially over. We will no longer be technically homeless or wandering the desert. It is a very gratifying feeling for some of us, especially given the potential uncertainty of finding any conference home, much less a place in the most prestigious one of FCS, given what has transpired around UND the last several years.
  20. Southern Utah is also putting new turf in this summer.................. Link
  21. Best of luck to Sean. It will be very difficult to fill his role in the athletic department. He was the one responsible for getting so many games of all different sports on national TV over the last few years.
