  1. Like I said earlier, I have been a Mussman apologist on this site. However I'd say my patience has run out after last week's debacle. Having said that, I think many fans on here place way too much emphasis on not beating an FBS team to this point.
  2. I would say it is not a stretch to assume that Mesa's run defense is a lot better than North Dakota's.....................
  3. They would go three and out on every possession.......
  4. Within 10 yards of an open receiver would be good start.......
  5. Would Bubba be a candidate? Didn't he basically assemble Duluth's title teams. I believe Neilson won it with Bubba's guys didn't he?
  6. Have not seen him on the sidelines this season.
  7. They are worse. No improvement in tackling. Don't know where they are supposed to be. Cannot defend the run or pass. Can't pressure the qb. Say what you want about Mackey, but he was at least one of the few players that seemed to be concerned by the fact that the team was losing by 30+ points. He may not be the most talented guy out there but at least cares and puts forth an effort.

    Defense

I can't believe the defense is even WORSE than last year. It is truly befuddling. I don't think the coaches OR players know what they are doing.
  9. The Griz were 9-10 on 3rd down conversions.........
  10. I think the best gameplan for the remaining games should be as follows.......... Since the offense has shown that it is capable moving the ball, I think the defense should should just stay on the sideline when the opponent has the ball. Then we try like hell to block every PAT, of course. We are bound to get a few here and there. Our kick returners are pretty good, so with so many opponent touchdowns, we'll get lots of chances to break a return for a score. Every time we do score, we need to go for two. Keeping our defense off the field gives us the best chance to win.
  11. I have been a Mussman apologist...................... I 've got nothing. 2 weeks in a row this team has been undisciplined. Tonight they were simply not prepared for this game. Many of the players act like clowns on the sideline. This is all coaching.
  12. I thought Mollberg did fine, but he throws into double coverage way too much and rather than set his feet properly even when he has plenty of times he prefers to rely on his arm strength which often results in a ball in the turf or 5 yards ocer the receivers head. He's a freshman I think he will get it. But i would have liked to have seen Bartels to start the second half. He could throw jump balls to Golladay just as easily as Mollberg can.
  13. As far as I am concerned that joker can stay on the sidelines. He was having a grand old time tonight all the way into the 4th quarter laughing it up and working on his dance moves in front of the freshmen while his team was down by 38 points. He was not the only one. The most entertaining part of the game for me was when Shea Walker and Cordero Finley had to be separated while shouting "shut the !@#$ up" at each other for about 90 seconds. That is classic Sioux football. Other than the humiliating blow-out, which is certainly the worst in Alerus history if not the worst in North Dakota history, I am most disappointed that the Griz didnt get a td on their final drive with their scrubs in. If they had it would have meant they scored a td on every single possession (except for right before half when the game clock stuffed them). I have never seen a team score 6 every time they had the ball. It sort of would have been somewhat historic..........
  14. Not a chance. I say under 10,000.................
  15. I just booked a flight on United from GFK to San Fransisco and it was $80 per person less than Fargo..........
  16. Herald article today sasy Goodman is doubtful............ Griz fans outnumbered North Dakota students last year. Hope that isn't the case agains this year, but probably will be.

    NDSU jokes

Q: How do you get an NDSU football player off your front porch? A: Sign the petition.
  18. Personally, I think you are underestimating the impact that FTA has had on viewership of North Dakota athletics. To be fair, I think that Redneksioux is probably overestimating it as well. I think it is somewhere in between. Have to remember that the FTA option was intially born into this world because Ralph Engelstad wanted access to the hockey games in Las Vegas. Guys like me were secondary beneficiaries. But because of the FTA option, sports bars in places like the Twin Cities (Joe Sensers), Arizona (R.T. O'Sullivan's), and Las Vegas (Torrey Pines) were able to carry Sioux games long before Fox College Sports did. And they did, every weekend. Fox College Sports has been carrying UND games for 4 years. But places like Joe Sensers have been airing our games at 3 locations to hundreds of fans every weekend in the biggest alumni center for 12 years thandks to the FTA option. Not just Hockey, they put on every televised game whether it be football, basketball, or volleyball. According to the UND Alumni page, sports bars in Minnesota, Arizona, Nevada, California, Wyoming, Illinois, and Washington D.C. picked up the FTA feed for their patrons over the years. They can't do that anymore. I love the emphasis that Midco is putting on North Dakota athletics. I just wish it was more accessible. For example, I didn't see the coaches show that they put on on Tuesday before the Valpo game because I have to watch it online, and it isn't available online until Thursday which was of course the day of the game. I didn't see the next episode because I totally forgot about it before the SDSU game because I have a job and a family and it is hard to log in and wait for it to buffer rather than just change the channel to 8 like we did for 30 years. To sum up, there are good and bad with the current TV deal.
  19. Montana is a stellar program. For some reason they don't scare me like some other Big Sky programs. We seem to match up better with them than with other teams. We played them tough in 2010 when we really sucked, and beat them last year. Ironically, I feel better going into this game with the Griz, than I did going into the SDSU game, and the Jackrabbits are a team that we have historically had our way with. They will be better than they were last year, especally with the return of their QB. But it I think North Dakota is better than last year as well. The jury is still out on the run defense obviously. But like I said in another thread, the D seemed to be able to get off the field in key situations last Saturday. They will need to tighten things up for sure, but as good as the Grizzly running attack is, it is not nearly as good as SDSU's. I'm not gonna make a score predicition, but I think it will be another close game either way......................
  20. Tough break for the Bobcats. I have no idea who is backup is. McGhee presents alot of problems for a lot of defenses.........
  21. Both Southern Utah and South Dakota were Top 25 teams when we beat them that year as well............
  22. Most of this is stating the obvious, but thisis what I saw from my seat tonight: SDSUs linemen on both sides of the ball totally outclassed us. I know that Zenner torched us all night long, but it sure seemed like the defense was able to get off the field in key situations multiple times. Zenner is the most impressive back that I have seen in many many years. Jackson's early drops were drive killers. Refs totally missed the delay of game on the jacks in the 4th qtr on that play that ended with the personal foul for a late hit. The ball should have never been snapped. That was maybe worse than the missed 12 men on the field on the final play at UNC last season. SDSU is really really good. They were dominant against us in two areas: running it down our throat, and totally taking our run game away. Even though they did those two things though, I really think North Dakota would have probably won the game by 10 points had we cut the penalties in half and not turned it over.
  23. I thought both guys looked good tonight. WRs had at least two costly drops when Bartels was in there. Bartels clearly makes better decisions, seems more accurate, but is not fleet footed and has the weaker arm. Mollberg has a cannon and is uber athletic. He wowed me with several throws, but made me shutter with a couple. That one throw across the field that Golladay caught as Joe was falling down with 2 bunnies around his ankles should have never been thrown. I am still on the fence, but whoever ultimately wins the job it appears the offense is in good hands.......
  24. Frustrating loss to be sure but very exciting game in the end. Lost to the #6 ranked team in the nation by one score. Back away from the ledge................
