  7. you are absolutely correct about the stupid fans of gopherdumb, but i'm gonna be a sioux fan that gives puffy some credit. his only err is that he is a gopher fan. He does know a lot about college hockey. He let's his moron and gold glasses cloud his opinions at times (like most of us don't from time to time with the green and white) but for the most part he does give sioux fans and team a lot of credit when credit is due.
  8. Have you sent a letter to INCH yet? 4/7/05
  9. first off, PETA, go away. This isn't an animal cruelty story, but a hockey story. (you really gotta wanna see it) anyways. My company is doing the surveying for several projects at the GF Air Force Base. While running a benchmark circuit today, I had some time to kill (running the rod). As I'm sitting at the benchmark waiting for my partner to set up the instrument, i look to my right and see a pesky gopher chasing around another pesky gopher. I watch for a while as it's quite interesting watching stupid animals do stupid things. In the middle of all of this one of the little rodents stops running around to see what i'm up too. He gets up on his hind legs and just stares at me, roughly 20 feet away. As we stare each other down, I see an opportunity to exterminate a terrible nuisance. I look down and at my feet is the cover for the box that the benchmark is located in (roughly 8" x 8" and 5 pounds). I pick up the cover and still staring at me is this gopher. I pitched the cover of the box at this vermon like a true horseshoe champion. Low and behold it hits the little son of a .... which brings me to this. I am not nervous about our chances against the gophers anymore. I think that if we play our game and throw everything we have at these stupid ass rodents, we will kill them. GO SIOUX!!!!!
  10. thinking outside the box isn't necessary when everything is already in place or already was in place. The only changes that need to be made are in the rules. Goalie equipment has gotten bigger and bigger over the last 15 years. Look at some of the old photo's of grant fuhr. if not, look at ed belfour's equipment when he played at UND, 18 years ago. Getting back to that will inflate goalie stats a little, but will make the game more entertaining. Goalies with a 3 GAA will be the studs of the league, rather than goalies who face 25 shots, see only half of them, yet stop them all because it happens to hit them. It will make the good goaltenders better. Enforcing of the hooking, holding, interferance penalties as they are written will open the game up for skaters. Enforcing of the checking from behinds, roughing bullcrap after the whistle, protection of the goalie penalties will make it so the game can remain physical, but make is so that the goons of the world don't become as commonplace as they have. In the NHL, there is no need for some of these guys who have a hard time skating and end up with 60 fighting penalties in 82 games making 2 million per. The two line pass and the reversal of the automatic offsides will allow there to be more flow to a game. The two line pass doesn't allow for the quick strike breakaway, that no matter who you are or who you are cheering for, is exciting as hell to see. The battle between goalie and player on that grand of stage is pretty damn auxillarating to watch. The only reason I call for the removal of the touch icing is because of how many injury's there are because of it. Slamming into the boards at 25 mph isn't exactly beneficial to a persons body, regardless of how much padding you have on. Players in college hockey know when it's going to be icing, and even if there is a chase, 99 times out of 100, when the whistle blows, they stand up and glide around the net rather than the NHL alternative of holding onto each others stick full bore and slamming into the boards. I just don't believe that major changes to the game are needed to make it more of an entertaining product to the lay fan. I believe that college hockey is 1000 times more entertaining to watch than the NHL, and many of you may agree with me on that, but since it isn't as nationwide as the NHL, perhaps bringing the NHL rules closer to college rules might be what the NHL needs to bring itself back to prominense. just my opinion.
  11. i saw the smily face, and understand your joke, but damn, most of the FRAT boys i've met fit the stereotype better than if they were trying to fit it.
  12. here is an interesting article on sioux goaltending since belfore. It's definately dated, but still implies to what's been going on this year with the rotating goalies. link
  13. again, toby ended up with bursitis in his hip, which is what lead schweitzer to time between the pipes. I agree that he deserved to stay, but you are correct, the sioux were ranked #1 before toby got hurt.
  14. what the hell is that?? that net is about the stupidest thing i've seen. Someone in Buffalo needs to be slapped repeatedly. Make the goalies equipment smaller, start enforcing the rules in place, get rid of the red line and touch icing and that will open the game up plenty for more offense. wow
  15. on toby's behalf, he got hurt, that's why schweitzer got his chance to play. to aaron's credit, he kept the starting spot for the rest of the year.
  16. i'll put twenty on it that i'm guessing right!!!!
  17. that some guy is Chad Abbot. he is the producer of the PA and Dubay show. He was being a joke ass trying to stir the pot in Gopherland.
  18. cept jackson isn't men, and you don't wanna say boys cuz robbie isn't a little boy........
  19. the actual cattle or the women??
  20. if you drink enuff beer you grow a hell of a roof over the tool shed, that way you don't have to go OUT to it, it's right there......
  21. does anyone not remember that babe ruth used a corked bat?? they will never go back and change the records. as much a fan i am of maris, they will never take it away from mcguire and subsequently bonds. you cannot go back in time and say they were using without having their test results from then. my guess is they don't since it hasn't been brought to light. I personally think that with the threat of "outing" the people who do eventually get caught for using steroids in baseball, you will see a rapid decline in the use......more than likely down to almost nobody using. The embarrasment of being labeled a cheater and having your entire career tarnish by being caught is far more damaging than the 10k fine or 10 days off as the "on field" punishment. furthermore, how many teams do you think will keep a known cheater in their lineup, even after their league penalty has been served?? my guess is anyone that gets caught using will find themselves on waivers spending their time in a rehab clinic somewhere attempting to get theirselves right.
