  1. I know this has been talked about in previous posts but I was wondering if anyone has anything new on Les Reaney. I heard this weekend that he is coming to the Sioux to walk-on. I haven't heard anything of it and I'm not sure its a really good source so I was wondering if anyone has heard anything. I think it would be great if this kid came as a walk-on.
  2. The two that I've heard the most about are: Tysen Dowzak - SSM 03 Tysen Dowzak Defense 11 3-8-88 6'5" 225 Fergus Falls, MN GP: 65 G: 8 A:23 Pts: 31 PIM: 96 And Joe Finley - Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) From what I've heard both of these guys were learing towards the Gophers. I know for sure I read somewhere that Dowzak has always wanted to be a Gopher so I think Hak and the boys will have to do some big time things to get these boys to Grand Forks. Hopefully they can get the job done in the off-season.
  3. That is my guess as well.
  4. Please fill in the details. Is he anywhere in the 6' 5" range.
  5. I noticed that too and did the same thing as you and looked it up. He is going to Notre Dame next year.
  6. I think Tyler Brosz was the other senior that was benched with Caig in that last game. I talked to a lot of UMD fans that weekend that wished Scotty would have benched those two much earlier than that.
  7. They don't need swearing. I think the "Let's Go Sioux" chant is very effective. There was nothing better than watching the Frozen Four on TV (well of course being their would have been better) and hearing the crowd loud and clear chanting "Let's Go Sioux" from the moment the puck dropped until the final buzzer.

I agree. I don't think a half-shield does very much of anything. If a stick comes up the half-shield isn't going to protect you. In my opinion if your not going to where a full mask don't where anything because the half-shield is pretty much useless besides the fact that some may feel safer with one on.
  9. Matt Niskanen is from Virginia not Hibbing.
  10. That is the Stafford goal I was thinking of.
  11. There was a great goal that Stafford scored in that Manitoba game that about made me fall over. I can't really remember it exactly but I know he fried the goalie and lifted the puck top shelf before the goalie knew what hit him. I vote for Sparky's goal against the Goofs as the best though with Fabian's first one in the Frozen four next.
  12. Just got done listening to the USA's final round robin game. The US beat the Czech Republic in the Czech Republic 4-3. The US was down 2-0 and came back to win. I listened to it from a feed on usahockey.com. It comes in really good plus I needed something to do today since it has been a boring day at work.
  13. I picked third but if both Smaby and Greene are back I would say 1st or 2nd. There is just too much up in the air right now. Who knows if the three Denver stars will be back? They all said they would but who knows. Same with CC. Stuart, Sertich and Sterling. If they leave CC could be in a hole. Which Wisconsin team will we see. They have everything coming back. And then theirs the Goofs. Can their D and goaltending improve enough.
  14. I really think it is a toss-up who wins. Of course early departures and injuries are a key but I also wouldn't be surprised to see Wisc., UM, DU, CC or UND finish first. I would be surprised to see one of the five drop out of the top five though. They all return a ton of talent and only have more coming in. My pick is CC though because they really only lose a goaltender and in my opinion Zaba is every bit as good as who they lose.
  15. I also agree with your here. I don't think we need to bring in another forward next year unless we lose one. As I see it we have 13 forwards with Marvin and Foyt playing in kind of emergency situations I believe that is plenty. Stafford Zajac Spirko Porter Toews Murray Kaip ? Prpich Fabian Duncan Kozek Watkins Miller Marvin??? Foyt??
  16. I agree with you and I haven't seen Reaney play either but I have seen Vandevelde and Oshie numerous times and I don't feel they are ready yet that is why I think the USHL would benefit them very much. But if I had to choose I believe Vandevelde is more ready than Oshie.
  17. I know this has been mentioned before but I think if we need to bring in another forward next year why not that Les Reaney kid from Canadian juniors. Yeah I heard that he might be a little overweight or lazy or whatever it was but he was the leading scorer in that league (or was for most of the season) and he wants to play at UND. I just say this because I think Oshie and Vandevelde would benefit tremendously from a year in the USHL. Just what I think because I'm not sure either one of those boys is ready for the WCHA. Anyways I could be wrong because I'm not sure Reaney is still available.
  18. We can't cheer like the Canadians, beer isn't allowed in the student section <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  19. The only suggestion I have to create a better atmosphere in the Ralph would be to simply cheer like the Canadians do. I'm sure some of you were at the championship game for the World Juniors. The whole place was red just like it is green for Sioux games and it was the loudest it has ever been in there and I have probably missed about three games since the Ralph opened. And as I recall the Canada fans were just loud fans chanting "Go Canada Go" the whole game and also they didn't do any cheers with swearing. So there are ways to liven up the Ralph but that would mean everybody would have to get into the games not just the students and a couple hundred other die hard fans it means the dead beats actually may have to stand up and cheer once in a while.
  20. I heard a while back like sometime in Dec. or Jan. that Taffe got his a$$ kicked pretty good and had to miss part of the season if not all because his cheek bones where broke. Basically someone rearranged his face. Not sure if true but I think so.
  21. I agree with everyone here great recap PCM not just this one but all year. They are great to read for a guy who isn't in the Grand Forks area anymore to listen to the show. Well done PCM!!
  22. I have seen Lee play 6 games this year including all three at the state tournament. I agree that at times he seems a little conservative. I also think alot of times he just skated backwards and kept the forward in front of him rather than stepping him up at the blueline. I especially thought he did this in the finals against Holy Angels. Instead of stepping up early he let them into the zone giving them scoring chances. I don't know if it was because Holy Angels had faster forwards than hes seen or if he just thought they couldn't create many opportunities from where they were on the ice. Anyways I think all will be changed here at UND and Hak and Berry will make him into a phenomenal defenseman if he isn't already.
  23. Thanks for the info. guys. I really didn't look up too many stats before I posted this. I was just going from posts from the former players post on here.
  24. The AHL All-Rookie team was announced and Bochenski, Vanek and Rene Bourque were the forwards. Are you kidding me. Rene Bourque over Zach Parise. What a joke.
  25. Of the freshman does anyone know who are centers. I think Toews is but the Canadian trio I am unsure about. Is Duncan a center and if so do you think he can play both ends well at his size?
