My guess is that he wears #6 next year. Thats the number hes been wearing for the US team. I don't think he will change to carry on the Jones' tradition but you never know.
-
I can see Oshie going after #9 rather than #7. But I believe a few other freshman might have worn #9 on their previous teams. I think Duncan did but not sure and I'm too lazy to look.

I heard the same thing about Robbie, but also that if his mom has anything to say about it he will be waiting a year. Either way that is good news about Smaby. Now if only Greene will be around for another year, that would just make the season for me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Was this a reliable source? I heard from a source that Robbie Bina will not be playing this year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I was in Grand Forks this weekend and heard some promising news on Smaby. From a reliable source, he said that Matt Smaby will be back next year and won't be going anywhere the following season as well. So in other words he will be in a Sioux uniform for four years. I hope this is true.
-
Sounds pretty promising. Hopefully he signs and can take over and be the punishing D we will need in a year with Greene and possibly Smaby being gone. With his addition, I love the mix of offensive and defensive defenseman. If Smaby is still around in a year that would be a pretty scary D corp (and I mean in a good way).

How nice would it be to have the twin tower freshman Finley and Dowzak joining Chorney, Lee, Jones, Radke, Bina and possibly Smaby in a year. I would like that D corp with a great mix of size and offensive punch. Here hoping Hak and the boys can make this happen. Personally I think getting one of the two would be good. I also forgot about Marto. But maybe if we get these guys Marto comes in 07.
-
Perhaps, but really, of those who will be getting significant time at D next fall, Radke and Lee are the only defensemen that can be considered true offensive defensemen. Chorney and Jones aren't know for their goalscoring. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I was waiting for someone to start it but no one did so I figured we get some conversation going. Anyways you have Duncan and Kozek on two lines.
-
Alright now that Murray is gone what does everyone think about line combos now. Here is what I have in mind. Stafford-Zajac-Spiko Porter-Toews-Duncan Fabian-Kaip-Prpich Kozek-Watkins-(Oshie or Miller or Mertens?) Greene (hopefully)-Jones Smaby-Radke Lee-Chorney Parise-Lammy The lines I originally had were the same except Murray in place of Duncan and Duncan for Oshie. Either way I still like the line possibilities and if everyone stays I like our D especially if Bina is able to play. If Greene goes, our D corp. is a little scary (and not in a good way).

I sure hope he will be a good player next year for the Sioux. But I still think that if we need another forward that Vandevelde is more ready than Oshie. He is bigger and a better skater. I personally don't think either is ready for the WCHA but if I had to chose one it would be Vandevelde. This is based on me seeing quite a bit of Oshie and only four games of Vandevelde but he impressed me alot more at the State tourney than Oshie did.
-
Not sure about Berry but Hak coached in Sioux City not Sioux Falls. Anyways as I've said before I hope Oshie plays in the USHL next year because I think we have enough talented forwards next year. I think the year in the USHL will help him and he will become a great player. Also I think with Martens coming in we definitely don't need another forward for next year especially assuming the Foyt and Marvin are still the utility guys.

I have a question here. I know it was mentioned a while back right after the Minnesoat State Hockey tournament but I haven't seen anything since. It is about Drew Fisher. I heard that he wanted to come to UND and was going to whether it be as a walk-on or a scholarship player. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about him and his situation.
-
I don't mind that we picked up another forward. Hopefully he is walking on but I do see some potential in him. He seems like he is improving every year. Anyways I am happy we got another forward so hopefully this means Oshie plays in the USHL next year which I feel is best for him. I just don't think he is ready for the WCHA next year and I think a year in the USHL would prepare him for a great freshman campaign in 06.
-
Not sure but it was rained out today.

Is Okoposo not playing at Shattuck next year?
-
Anyone know or heard of whether or not Oshie is going to the USHL or coming in next year or is it kind of a last resort type situation? If we need another forward then he is coming next year. I think that is the situation but I was wondering if anyone has heard anything lately. Personally, I would like to see him in the USHL next year.
-
What league is he playing in? Anyone know if he will follow his brother to Shattuck?
-
What I miss is the Gear Daddies "I want to drive the Zamboni" song when the Zamboni's are on the ice.
-
He was sober and he lives in Grand Forks and has some close ties to Hak. But I agree I would imagine he would take a scholarship elsewhere before walking on here unless he wants to be a Fighting Sioux that bad which you can't blame him for that. Also the last I heard his offers were from schools like Alaska Fairbanks so walking on at UND wouldn't be all that bad.
-
I know this has been talked about in previous posts but I was wondering if anyone has anything new on Les Reaney. I heard this weekend that he is coming to the Sioux to walk-on. I haven't heard anything of it and I'm not sure its a really good source so I was wondering if anyone has heard anything. I think it would be great if this kid came as a walk-on.

The two that I've heard the most about are: Tysen Dowzak - SSM 03 Tysen Dowzak Defense 11 3-8-88 6'5" 225 Fergus Falls, MN GP: 65 G: 8 A:23 Pts: 31 PIM: 96 And Joe Finley - Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) From what I've heard both of these guys were learing towards the Gophers. I know for sure I read somewhere that Dowzak has always wanted to be a Gopher so I think Hak and the boys will have to do some big time things to get these boys to Grand Forks. Hopefully they can get the job done in the off-season.

That is my guess as well.
