  1. Minot showed their true colors in the first round of the state tourney this year. An unbeaten record in the west is equivalent to a .500 record in the east.
  2. This vacancy has Tony Bina written all over it.
  3. How many publicized meetings have Conrad and Dorgan already had? I just don't see how Hoeven could benefit without Conrad and Dorgan benefiting an equal amount. Has there been indications that Hoeven wants the job? Or is a guy like Duane Sand or Kevin Cramer going to run and get destroyed again?
  4. I know this sounds cynical, but it also makes alot of sense if you think about it. Do you actually think that George Bush will let Ellsworth AFB close down? Think about all the effort the Bush Administration put into getting John Thune in and Tom Daschle out. Would Bush slit Thune's political throat by allowing the Ellsworth base to close right away? I personally think that this is a ploy to make Thune look like a hero. Do not be surprised if Ellsworth is removed from the list after a "heroic" effort by Thune to save the base. My next worry is that in order to save Ellsworth, another base might be moved onto the closing list to make up for it. I hope that is not Grand Forks AFB. I know that this is not supposed to be political, but everything is political whether you want it to be or not. I just hope Bush remembers the states that actually voted for him (ie the midwest) when deciding whether to approve the list or not. The list sure seems to disproportionally hurt the more rural area versus the Californias and Texas of the world.
  5. Don't forget though that Kessel will be a Gopher which means the reffing will be out to protect him. I guarantee you that WCHA reffing will not allow Kessel to be mugged like Parise was.
  6. I think that it is pretty sad when a dad becomes one of "those parents". It is ridiculous to compare mites and project their progress out seven years. Half of those mite kids can barely skate yet. Wait four or five years which will be when the skating gap will narrow among kids. At that point, true skill and desire will be more apparent and the kids that were pushed by their "hockey dads" will be burnt out and quit. By the way, who won the state ND hs title this year, the Bantam title, and pee wee titles this year? I am pretty sure that Grand forks won the first two and fisnished runner up to Grafton in Pee Wee. Perhaps the death of Grand Forks hockey is a bit premature and Fargo will not win the next 50 titles after all.
  7. Has he verballed to UND yet or is he still exploring his options?
  8. Assuming your numbers are correct, how much of that 27% truly comes from student pockets? In other words, how much of it is via subsidized loans, grants, or scholarships from alumni. I would be willing to bet that the student versus taxpayer number may be much closer to being even.
  9. For every $13,000 spent by students on education, how much is spent by the taxpayers of NoDak to subsidize the public university system? PCM was not disrespectful, 206Jockey had the belittling post, PCM just refuted everything Jockey said with solid arguments, nothing wrong with that. Once again, deal harshly with the limited number of troublemakers rather than shaking up the entire seating system.
  10. With that kind of "to hell with current season ticket holders" attitude, you would be a prime candidate for the REA manager opening.
  11. Exactly, I don't see how some people think that moving students even closer to the opposing teams goalie for a good chunk of the game will cut down on profanity. If students are right on top of the opposing goalie, we will all hear swearing like never before.
  12. Kind of reminds me of a Sioux/ Gopher game penalty recap, especially if the game was in mpls.
  13. I agree that there is nothing wrong with collecting historical items, including Nazi memorabilia. However, it is a little harder to explain the "Hitler Birthday party" that occurred.
  14. It is sad that a guy that probably played his first 20 years of hockey with a mask, gets an eye injury within three or four games of taking the thing off. Was the slash deliberate?
  15. The attempt to rezone the neighborhood nearby UND so that no more than 2 (?) non related people can be living there at the same time. Another city action that says we care about the younger crowd.
  16. Beer Bottles and urinating? Close down Ulland park then. PCM keeps referring to there being more to the story. I am just curious as to what he means. Bottom line, young people are not staying in this city or state as a whole. The census numbers do not lie. I suppose we can argue about the reasons until we all turn blue in the face.
  17. How about the city having their election in the month of June when college kids won't be around? A policy that I am sure is more geared toward the typical college aged kid than the forty something going for his doctorate. And what were these problems at University Park? It is not that I don't believe you, but you keep making vague references to their being more to the story. What are the examples?
