  1. It was only an evening of absolute boredom at work that finally made me cave and open this thread. I'm very pleased to find that it has very little to do with soccer and much more to do with Ghanaisms.
  2. Princeton named Ron Fogarty as the new head coach. He's been a DIII head coach for the past 7 years. Obviously the DIII competition level isn't as high, but he started the program at Adrian and has a record of 167-23-10. Sounds like a great catch for Princeton.
  3. It will be interesting to see what deals come out of Chicago (if they can manage it) with Toews and Kane. That's a LOT of star power, both warranting more money, looking to sign contract extensions at the same time. Granted, the current contracts aren't up until next year, but I'd imagine Chicago wants to get that taken care of before the start of next season. It will also be interesting to see what happens with Greener. If it weren't for injuries, he very well might not have played much in the playoffs. The Kings are deep at defense and utilizing an offensive defenseman is a more popular choice these days. But you also can't underestimate that kind of locker room presence, noted by both Sutter and teammates. If Greene stays in LA, I'm thinking it's a one or two year deal max.
  4. That's one of the first things I said after the Kings won. The series was significantly closer than 4-1 would indicate.
  5. Absolutely love the craziness of the OT. Lots of Kings pressure, but a Rangers' breakaway and post. Kings with a ton of chances, including a post and a crossbar. I think I've only seen Greene out for one, maybe two, shifts in the first OT. Now onto the second!
  6. And another OT with the cup on the line. What a great series.
  7. That happened to me on my flight from DC to Addis Ababa. It was brutal, especially since the seats on Ethiopian Airlines are made for skinny Ethiopians. Sleep meds (melatonin, benadryl, ambien, lunesta, etc.) are your best friend for those flights! A pair of mallards lived in my swimming pool in Phoenix.
  8. Hilarious montage with Darryl Sutter's profound insight on the playoffs...
  9. I would say the general rule for sports should be 5 years. The three exceptions are the Vikings, Bills, and Bill Buckner; they will be mocked for life.
  10. Hey, it's a change from "blah blah blah...Bruins...blah blah blah...the best...blah blah blah..."
  11. But not the 2013 Boston Bruins who choked away a Stanley Cup?
  12. 'The greatest team ever' shouldn't need three game 7's, nor should it continually be down by goals. I'll title the Kings the best comeback team, but definitely not greatest team in general.
  13. I was actually a fan of Union for two days, because I loathe both Boston College and Minnesota.
  14. What a unique living situation!
  15. Yup. Schlossman has a pretty excellent picture of it over on his blog.
  16. I'd laugh if he gets drafted by one of the few teams who really encourage players to take the time to develop in college. At this point, I think most of the fan base would rather just be done with him. I want a team of players who are absolutely committed to this program.
  17. Preferably to someone who doesn't create the lineup based entirely on order of arrival at the field...
  18. Yeah...get back to me when he's actually playing with the big boys.
  19. Local and family connections. I think if Jordan didn't play here, Nick would be a much higher flight risk than he is. That's the way to go. In other important news, my softball team only lost 12-7 for our first game, which is significantly closer than expected
  20. Not on purpose, per se, but also not doing much to limit contact. *Here's how I see it: LA: former Sioux Matt Greene Rangers: no former Sioux Go KINGS!! *Exceptions to this rule of thinking include: Boston, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Vancouver
  21. Which is what confuses me all the more for why he'd go OHL. It sounds like he needs the extra time to develop. If he's worried about cracking the line-up due to a deep D roster, how does he think he's going to make it as a pro?
  22. I will never understand why kids just don't stay uncommitted until they make up their mind. I will also never understand how willingly these kids are going back on a commitment. Yesterday morning, I got asked to be on a crappy co-ed softball team. Having no other option before me, I agreed. Then, yesterday afternoon, I got asked to be on the best co-ed softball team in the league. And, as much as it pains me, I'm playing on the crappy team, because I think giving your word means something. That being said, if I still live here next year, I'm totally abandoning ship. I realize that my future career doesn't depend on my softball team, but the number of commitment changes (not just at UND) drives me nuts. And yes, this includes Jason Gregoire and other players who were originally committed somewhere else. The lone exception would be a coaching change (*cough* CC *cough*). It just gives me a whole new level of respect for Seth Jones and how he handled himself throughout that entire process.
  23. Tonight, 8pm EST
  24. The Kings are the 3rd team in history to play 21 games in the first 3 series. Almost every series this year, for everyone not just the Kings, has been down to the wire and phenomenal to watch.
  25. If that gets passed, it's a good thing Grimaldi signed. He's a good player, but the dude flopped around more than any Sioux I can recall.
