  1. Looks like Oshie is having a rough tourney... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/t-j--oshie-four-putts-from-seven-feet--should-probably-stick-to-hockey--video-050529623.html
  2. Ha! Fixed. You'd think I would know that for all the times I played as Detroit on NHL '98.
  3. Entertaining story out of Puck Daddy regarding Federoff vs Fedorov. http://sports.yahoo....-183201579.html
  4. Just be thankful we aren't fans of an Ivy League school. Their schedules typically start in November.
  5. Exactly. I almost started the college hockey 2014-15 thread just in the hopes that the topic somehow land on hockey. I should know better around here, though...
  6. I know a person who got an unauthorized greasy paw on it when Commie had it...caught on video too!
  7. I think it's highly dependent on his ability to stay healthy. If he stays healthy, I think it'll show.
  8. Just to clarify, are you calling me a wanker or the goalie in question?
  9. Interesting move by the Dutch yesterday that ended up paying off. With just a few seconds left in stoppage time, they switched out goalies, sending in a cold keeper to face Costa Rica in the penalty kicks. I'm assuming the fresh guy had a history of doing stellar stopping penalty kicks, and that's why they made the last second switch. At any rate, he stopped two of them, leading the Netherlands to victory.
  10. CC hired Gene Reilly as an assistant coach to round out the upheaval of staff. He's had a wide range of hockey-related jobs, but his college experience includes assistant coaching with Maine (98-01), Harvard (03-04), and Northeastern (04-08).
  11. It was interesting to see Frattin's comment regarding heading back to Toronto; doesn't seem like there are any hard feelings regarding the original trade.
  12. As noted, Greene set up an endowment for UND scholarships. If I remember correctly, the amount was for 50k a year. That's what he gives publicly. I agree that athletes make a lot; no one would argue that. But just because the general public isn't aware of giving doesn't mean it isn't happening. Maybe some athletes donate funds to support students, maybe some goes to flood or tornado relief efforts or cancer research or the AIDS epidemic or a local hospital or homeless shelter. We have no way of knowing private financial affairs (other than the contract salary total), so I'm a bit hesitant to judge whether or not athletes are being 'real role models' with their finances.
  13. Joe Gleason is headed to Norway next season.
  14. A tenth of an inch the other way, and it would have missed completely.
  15. I wonder if they are trying to approach it together (like Parise and Suter), especially since they have the same agent. As good as Kane is, Toews' intangibles make him worth more in my opinion.
  16. That's why I put it in apostrophes. 39 isn't old in general, but it's old in sports.
  17. I thought it was an excellent move when I saw they resigned him, and then I saw the timeframe. 7 years is a heck of a long time to commit to someone that 'old'.
  18. Bergeron wins the Selke. Maybe he and Toews can just alternate every other year.
  19. I hate basketball, but this is a phenomenal article: http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/austin-one-day-the-ball-was-going-to-stop-bouncing-it-just-happened-sooner-for-me-062314 I'm sure there are still dark days ahead for this man, but I have enormous respect for him for taking the attitude he has. It's a good thing he opted to be drafted this year...who knows what could have happened had he played his last two years at Baylor without this getting caught at the combine check up. I think it's probably unlikely, but I would be thrilled one of the teams with the last few draft picks still drafts him.
  20. I was actually in Copenhagen (one of my favorite cities, apart from the showers) in May. Had I known about the wedding, I obviously would have altered my travel plans to be there now!
  21. It honestly depends on which Mattson comes to campus this fall. If we see the Mattson who played at the beginning of last season, go ahead and sit him. If it's the Mattson who was playing by the end of the season, I just don't see him sitting.
  22. Haha Eidsness' reply was exactly how I knew.
  23. Haha for a lot of these players, we kind of watch them grow up. I think it's nice to continue to follow them a bit (note I said 'a bit', as in 'if I happen to see something online'. I'm not hiding in the bushes with a camera...yet). Maybe I should have put it in the 'prospective recruits' thread, since any Lamoureux-Davidson babies are likely to pull on the Sioux sweater and dominate.
  24. On the personal side of former players, Derrick LaPoint got married in Denmark today. And of course Brent Davidson married Jocelyne Lamoureux today as well. Pretty sure that wedding/reception brought a lot of former players into town!
