  1. I would expect this game and all of the rest of the games on our schedule to be tough games. I'm not sure what would lead us to believe this, or any other game left on our schedule, would be a blowout. We are capable of winning this game and if we keep improving, hopefully we will be able to compete in every game left on the schedule.
  2. GFhockey takes QB's and assigns the rest of the GOBC to the other duties. the team is in good hands.
  3. I think that is the frustration many have with Joe. There was a lot of excitement when he turned down the Ag School and had a lot of interest from Iowa and Northern Illinois. Neither of these guys developed last year as they could have/should have. Lots of factors but one of them is going to be our guy going forward and this staff thinks it is Mollberg. They need to know if they are right or wrong. There isn't any game this year that has answered that question, even the MSU game where he played poorly. I understand the criticism, but your former high school coach thinks Mollberg is the better QB. I do to so far. Expectations are very high and dissapointment will be more for Joe and not so much with Ryan. They both can play, but can Joe be a guy who can carry a team? Maybe, I still think so, but hell, my opinion is no more valid than say... GFhockey or yours. . The jury is still out on both of these guys and they both better be ready to play and stay ready to play. If one isn't playing and pouts, he won't ever be the guy. I think they are both handling this pretty well so far. This staff will never make a decision based on fan opinion and they shouldn't. I think they are both capable of being successful.
  4. Bartles did a good job and I expected he would. He is a good QB. For some of you, there is nothing that Mollberg can do that will satisfy you. He played well against both Montana and against Portland. He threw a pick 6 against Montana State but played a decent game. Some of these wide open receivers people talk about are not always the entire story. Bartles missed a wide open reciever in the end zone but was getting pressured. Some games he will make that play and some days he won't. He did make a good throw on the TD but wasn't perfect. It isn't going to be. Leading 2 scoring drives in second half was good, but not a miracle nor unexpected. Remember if Tillman doesn't score we likely don't win. That wouldn't have been Bartle's fault but it would have been Mollberg's fault had he been the QB. . Hd Mollberg been the QB at end of first half and not let the play clock run down before the snap he would have been crucified by some of you. If you guys think musical QB's is anyway to go you are nuts. It didn't work last year. Bartles was the starter last year and too many of you forget he lost the job cuz he wasn't playing well. Joe then lost the job cuz he wasn't playing well. Joe earned the job this fall cuz he was playing well in the spring game and in pre-season. I know a couple of you think practice doesn't matter but it does. Mollberg has survived a rocky start with receivers who were dropping the ball and running poor routes, and an Oline that has struggled. He has also made his own mistakes. What I believe is the mistake too many of you are making is you forget this is a team game and although the QB's are maybe the most important position on the offensive side of the ball but only one position. Joe is starting to look like the QB the coaches and many of us believe he is capable of. Bubba and his staff see the same thing. Bigger upside but still work in progress. If Bartles becomes the QB you can't throw him under the bus either as he adjusts and matures. I don't think we aren't seeing what you see, we just have a different opinion and dont' get pissed if the coaching staff seems to agree with our opinion.
  5. Mollberg is fine. Was ok after game. Hit early when sacked then started getting goofy. McGill looked like knee other kid looked hurt.
  6. Mollberg will be QB next game. He has played well last couple of games and there was nothing exceptional from Bartles that would lead one to believe he will do better. He did a good job. Interesting that some of the experts don't point out the missed guy in end zone that could have been TD or missed open receivers or the possible pick 6 Portland could have had on the out pattern Young dove for and caught. These are always brought up when Mollberg makes same mistake. That stuff happens and is part of the game for both of these guys. What too many seem to miss is that there were no dropped balls yesterday and at least four diving catches. The same guys who wanted to toss Garmin under the bus should have seen the potential he has if you give him some seems to run in. Oline is maybe the most important factor for either of these guys. They both are a lot better when receivers catch the ball. Receivers did great job yesterday. Bottom line is that Mollberg has played well the last two games and other than the pick 6 did decent job against Montana State. Bartels came in and played well yesterday. The problems on offense aren't necessarily the QB. Don't see coaches pulling Mollberg now after he has been playing well. They won't pull him until they know he won't be their QB then he will likely be done.
  7. Don't see him ahead of either Mollberg or Bartels.
  8. Let people know how to find you. Some of us would like to see if you really exist and if so maybe get an autograph or photo op! Students should not miss an opportunity to schmooze with a legend. Make sure you have plenty of beverages for them.
  9. The lack of class and lack of maturity shown by some students or fans has led to the tactics we see now with the crackdown on drinking by administration and lack of judgement and common sense by campus security. We didn't used to scream F-bombs every other word and we didn't tend to be so obnoxious people around us (who didn't require a BAL of 3x legal limit to raise hell and have a good time) got a bit annoyed with the lack of class. We were, and sometimes still are, obnoxious but not to the point young kids or sober people felt uncomfortable. Simple as that. Dont' drink and drive and show some consideration for others. If you can't drink and have a good time without being a !@#!$!, then someone is going to either knock you on your ass or ask the people in authroity to fix it. That is how government works. Instead of dealing with the few who cause the trouble, they make rules or laws that lack common sense. I'm defending or criticizing Kelly, but drinking too much doesn't give people the right to be an ass. If you can't drink without being crude, violent or vulgar, then you aren't able to handle booze and should stick to Diet Mountain Dew or something you can handle. Sad thing is, the campus cops don't seem to distinguish between college kids having a few beers and using common sense, and those being jerks. I will step off the pulpit now.
  10. GFH, I had given you the benfit of the doubt. Whereas I have no doubt you aced that course without having to study, the liver likely develops into a "fatty liver" and gets larger first. With repeated insult from chronic alcohol abuse will develop cirrhosis and scaring leading to a smaller liver. I didn't think you would be quite that far along yet. Alcohol may pickle "your living" as you say but dont' forget at the levels you are talking about it could very well shrink your "pickle". Be careful and stay thirsty my friend.
  11. What's the over under that if someone was going to grill liver and onions for tailgating there would be enough for the whole crowd if they could use your liver
  12. Those two also need to prepare new contracts for our FB staff. Can't afford to lose to assistants cuz we aren't paying top FCS scale.same goes for MBB,WBB,VB. That is the responsibility of Kelly and Faison. They shouldn't need donations for salaries, the donations can be for facilities, uniforms, perks and bonuses etc. lots of work yet to do.
  13. Students need to realize they can make a difference. Need to show up and stay through second half. Tailgaters should let students know we appreciate them coming and share whatever is legal for the students to consume. Kelly and Faison need to get out from behind their desks and rally the students. They should have big Friday night bonfire with bubba, coaches, band and team and free food and legal beverages. Kelly should also let faculty know they need to participate so they can reconnect with alumni. Faison needs to take a look at game programs. Do something there for students. Also should recognize cheerleaders, dance team and band in the program. He should be our biggest cheerleader. He has most of the biggest part already.
  14. Wasn't even close to "most talent". Klancher, Kovash,, Klosterman, Manke and Wahl were all much better. He was one of the most gifted athletes but didn't get it done in film room and blamed coaches for his lack of playing time. He showed signs of potential but was too inconsistent until his senior year when he seemed to realize he was his own biggest barrier to his own success. He put in the time in film room and started to show the potential he had all along. Hanson was better QB until he broke his ankle. Had Marcus done as a freshman and Soph that he did as a Sr. you might have a case.
  15. Ferguson made a great catch on great throw with good play by Dback.
  16. We won't make playoffs unless we win Saturday. That's the only game that can make a difference. Same answer next week and each week.
  17. No I also see the games where there are poor reads or missed opportunities. Doesn't mean I would have benched him cuz then we are back to last years mess. Whomever your QB is, they can't be afraid to make plays. He had one terrible pass thrown deep that could have been picked that I have no idea what he was doing. But he stuck the ball into some pretty small spots today with zip on the ball. He threw a couple away and he had the three drops. He missed a short pass on the first series he threw too high. I try and focus on the potential and see if we can develop it. I guess we will see. I'm more familiar with Mollberg and I know he won't throw a teammate under the bus if they run a wrong route or drop a pass. If we have someone who gives us a better chance of winning, get him in there.
  18. I get the criticism before but Mollberg played a very good game today. He drilled about 5 of those passes into tight spots and had 3 drops today. The extra point was a bullet while he had a guy hanging on his left arm. I didn't see what happened on the fumble but he got mauled. Some of those throws into tight spots could get picked but if he doesn't make those throws we don't move the ball. He played well today. Both former Lakers played well today. Labat was a beast on defense.
  19. Wrong thread and you have no clue.
  20. Norberg runs hard and will continue to get better. He is still learning the position but making progress. Oline has improved some but needs to continue to get better. Garmin is very quick but won't run anyone over. If oline can give those guys some seems to hit we may get better faster. We need more than one RB and we haven't thrown much to our backs or TE's. A work in progress to develop the program. This weekend will measure if we can improve upon our successes the last 2 weeks. Long way to go yet but we need get better game to game ( I think that is Bubba's philosophy). Defense is much improved but also needs to get better week to week. We will have our ups and downs the rest of the season but I think it's coming.
  21. Agree
  22. Agree. Needs to continue to improve and expand upon the successes he had yesterday and learn from the mistakes. I have never understood the passes thrown short to a wide open receiver or int into coverage but the upside is still pretty good. I do get the passes thrown that give the receiver the chance to make a play but could get picked. If you can't throw theses passes with confidence that your receiver will go get the ball and if they can't make sure it isn't picked you won't be able to pass at this level. The ones that can't happen are the ones like yesterday's pick six.
  23. What about them? They must have been poor throws. My point is that they are going with him and obviously don't believe they have a better alternative or they would have made the change. Most of the good coaches I have talked to think he can be the guy. They don't see Bartles as a better choice. He was given the job last year and replaced when he couldn't get the job done. Had Mussman stayed with him I think he might have gotten better. They switched to Joe and had they remained with him, I think he would have gotten better as the season went along had they stayed with him. I see the same mistakes you do, I just think they needed to go with one of these guys and allow them to develop. If you think we as fans see something the coaches don't I respectfully disagree. When I was a Cowboys fan cuz of family, Romo was allowed by Parcells to develop into a Pro-Bowl QB but he made throws just as bad. Whether it be Bartles or Mollberg one of them has got to be allowed to develop as a leader and playmaker. Neither of them stepped up last year and both had ample opportunity. Bartles needs to be ready and if he gets on the field again he will need to be near perfect to unseat the starter. That is what it took last year against SD State for Mollberg to unseat Bartles. If Bartles was the starter this year Bubba would likely be going with him and Joe would need to be ready then perfect to get the job back. It usually doesn't work well to be changing week to week, series to series if you don't have a better alternative.
  24. No surprise offense developing slower than defense. Bubba and staff are rebuilding a program not a team. The first thing we need is to be competitive. We then need to develop consistently and then develop into a power program. I can't explain the pick six but Mollberg can play and excel. Whomever the QB is will also need to develop that ability to be competitive, and Mollberg has shown he can be but he needs to make that next step to being consistent. He hasn't done that yet but he has the potential to be a dominant QB at this level. Last year neither QB knew who would play, nor for how long and there was no scheme to what the offense was doing. The oline play was suspect and neither QB was allowed to develop as they might have. Once Mollberg earned the job, Bubba and staff have decided to allow him the opportunity to develop into the QB he has the potential for. I can't explain the poor read on the pick 6, but when we open the play book he is much more effective and we still aren't seeing the run option packages he is capable of. The defense under Schmidt has made great strides. We need patience with our freshmen kickers and oline. There are no moral victories but in developing the program we need to see the team getting better each day and each week. I think we see that the last 2 weeks. This week is a big week for these kids to stay focused and maintain some consistency. Another plus was only 3 penalties yesterday. Patience can be difficult and frustrating, but necessary.
