  1. Old farts would never agree to that. The students would beat the crap out of the foogies.
  2. Problem is that the student policing would be of the violent nature. If I got kicked out of a game against UAA, much less Minnesota, because of some dope, I'd be ticked off. An entire section being tossed because of one person could lead to some very bad repersuccions for that one person. Some students come to the games drunk and could have some rather poor judgement and do some rather stupid things to that one person. Mob mentality could rule. It's not good, but it could happen. While in principal it sounds like a good idea, it isn't. Simply kicking a person out for that game for the first offense and for the season for the second offense is a better idea.
  3. Of course this won't happen, but the proposal makes sense. When you are in negotiations, your first offer isn't going to be what you expect to get when all is said and done, it is what you'd like to get in your best case scenario. This would probably be the best case scenarion for the students. Now Kupchella or the Athletic Dept. or whomever needs to come back and make a proposal themselves. At least the students are proposing something rather than just bellyaching and whining like many people seem to do about this situation. This will not happen, but could be a good first step to coming to a compromise. If everyone just sat around complaining rather making proposals, nothing would ever be done.
  4. To emphasize this, I think it should just be blank.
  5. So you're saying you want to be in front of the net with Matt Greene hanging around? I know I wouldn't want to be.
  6. Being made fun of by Mapletoft Boy himself. How embarrassing.
  7. Sparky's goal at the Final Five. It's the reason they scored so many goals on the Gophers at the Frozen Four because Briggs was still in Colorado looking for where his jock got sent to.
  8. Somehow place the flask between your shoulderblades and you're golden. They never search there.

No, it happened to Commodore too. When he came back, he wore the shield for awhile but then took it off again. I still think he's an idiot for doing that. Don't tell him I said that though.
  10. Screw the general public then. If students stop swearing, they will no longer be able to be blamed for things. Or at least reasonably be blamed for things.
  11. This is very true, but you know what? Life sucks and isn't fair. I'd much rather go to some meeting and be able to keep seats then to have seats taken away and even when I'm not a student (probably never ) I don't want students to be hosed out of good seats. A meeting isn't going to hurt anyone and will be a one time thing for a first time season ticket holder. It will be run by fellow students and I would assume it isn't going to just be what you can't do. That will be maybe 5 minutes. The rest of the meeting will be what you can do. It'll be learning the school song and a bunch of cheers. Sure it'd be nice if we could get everything exactly the way we want it, but that isn't realistic. Instead of complaining, we should try to turn things into a positive. Oh and the saying with age comes wisdom is true. Four years ago I never would have said any of the things I've said in this post, now though.
  12. I think the problem is swearing. Every game is the "who's he" chant and then there is probably one other chant a game that involves swearing. Students should try to stop swearing because ultimately, who cares? It is such a stupid argument. I don't really care if people swear or anything, but some people do. Rather than arguing with these people, just stop swearing because it ultimately doesn't even matter. It's just a waste of time to continue to argue about it and I'm just tired of people whining about it.
  13. REA doesn't care from what I understand. They want as little to do with the process as possible. If we wanted all GA seats, they wouldn't care. The second year at REA worked just fine with all GA tickets and it can work just fine again. It's the easiest thing to implement and results in the fewest problems when it season tickets. I just thought of another problem that happened this year. There was no contract that season ticket holders had to sign. I'd think this made it a bit more difficult for people to be permanetly kicked out of the arena for bad behavior.
  14. Kupchella isn't the one who changed the policy. A bunch of students whined about how unfair it was to have to wait in line for like a week in order to get tickets. Therefore the brilliant idea of not being able to line up until Monday morning was made and then running to the doors. This idea went down the toilet when 2000 students showed up. This made it impossible to do as serious injuried could have occured. Instead of just switching to GA for everyone though, the stupid idea of the lottery was implemented. They should simply go back to GA for everyone for every game. It works just fine and that way no one has to wait in line for a week. REA could also sell rush seating for the games when the students don't fill the section.
  15. I'm too lazy to look back to see if this has been answered, is UND looking at bringing in a third goalie or are they just going to have a walk-on for the third goalie?
  16. Which is exactly why someone, ie. Bobby Haskins, needs to take some initiative and make it madatory for people who get season tickets for the first time to attend a meeting with the UND AD and REA about this. It's not like those of us on this board are infinately more brilliant than the people who make these deicisions. They can do it too.
  17. I was thinking about it and I really don't see what the point of moving the student section would be. The only thing students are doing right now that is wrong is swear. Moving them won't change this, doing many of the things suggested in this thread would.
  18. Actually, he's never contacted me.
  19. Without my brilliance, you would not be the sign guy. Point, Diggler aka God. PCM, you're right. You're older than SuperVolcano!!!
  20. Actually, I'm a God.
  21. The band is only allowed to play a certain amount, I believe. I'm not sure why either, the band is much better than about 95% of the canned music they play. There is no doubt that students need to learn the school song. REA really does need to start putting the words up on the video board. That is completely seperate from this conversation and just plain only has to be done. Gotta stop trying to make a pro arena. It's a college arena and what is played/put on the video board should reflect that. They also need to have that "Ever wonder what was below the ice" thing that was at the old arena. While students shouldn't give up, it does get frustrating for them. They often put in the effort to try to get others involved and it just doesn't work. No matter what you are doing, it's no fun when you are doing all these things to try to get other people involved, but instead of getting involved those people just stare at you blankly. I think Student Governament should use some of it's money to print up sheets with cheers, school songs, etc. on them for the first five or so series. Of course the freshman will be the ones who need the sheets and many of them will probably make paper airplanes out of them to throw on the ice. *sigh*
  22. The fact that about 80% of the arena doesn't participate in the sieve cheer, makes me wonder if many of them ever will get involved in any cheers. There are plenty of cheers that the students do that aren't bad, but no one else participates in them. What would make this change. Are some people really so bitter with the students that they refuse to participate in any cheers? If so, those people are acting just as childish as students do at times. If by some miracle of God everyone would quit acting like a bunch of two year olds who pout every time something doesn't go their way, this problem will be solved. I don't have much hope though because overall neither side really seems to want to act like anything other than a spoiled brat.
  23. Well you have to admit, people who play basketball deserved to be punsihed in some way.
  24. I think even if the sh^t was left off the end of the He sucks cheer, a few people would still complain. Some people just don't like students no matter what. Even if this problem is solved, there will still be some people complaining because students will be students. They'll be loud, obnoxious and rowdy.
