He never claimed to know everything about the Sioux, just that he has now been exposed to them. Probably the same amount of exposure you've had to Vikings through the football team. You are attacking a guy for things he never claimed. How about you try discussing things without attacking and belittling people. And don't say that you are doing it because that is what is done to you through the nickname. That is what a three year old does. If you truely want your viewpoint to be respected, show some maturity and quit attacking people for giving their honest opinion.

So you own the name now? What has been done to belittle the rightful owners? Anything beyond just having the name Fighting Sioux? Anything beyond isolated incidents that we all agree were caused by idiots? It is amazing to me that you come to this board and say that people are always purposely showing disrespect to the Lakota, Dakota, etc. by using the name. It is possible to have a civilized discussion on this matter and you've even asked for that. It won't effect DIA football because they have no playoffs and the NCAA doesn't have rule over the Bowls. It will effect every other sport in every other division though, including DII football. UND will not be allowed to host.

You seem to be saying that UND should just give up though and change the name. They shouldn't attempt to get an exemption or anything from the NCAA, just give up. The NCAA Executive Commitee made this decision and though they said that exemptions could still be granted, it's hopeless. UND is screwed. You seem to have a complete defeatist attitude.

Why doesn't GrahamKracker answer many of the questions that are posed to him? Has anyone made a similair comment towards him like he made when he said "I'm sorry that your skin burns if your out in the sun too long" and that Vikings are not a people. Where have personal attacks occured? Just because GK is questioned, doesn't mean he's being attacked. When he's asked questions, people have answered. When others ask questions, he sometimes answers. GK seemed to be saying that everyone who doesn't want the name changed, doesn't respect him. That isn't true. Just because I disagree with someone doesn't mean I don't respect them. There are always idiots everywhere, includings both sides of this discussion. At SCSU people wearing Sioux jerseys have been called Nazis by protestors. These people are morons and obviously don't respect people with differing opinions, but they hardly represent the majority of name change advocates. In fact, they probably represent a very small segment of them, just like the idiots who swear at small children represent a small segment of the people who are for keeping the name.

While it may not offend you or I, there will be someone out there who will for some reason be offended by the name. You can never make everyone happy about everything, changing UND's nickname certainly won't change this.

Why do you keep starting all these threads? You keep saying the same things over and over again. Why don't you just keep it in one thread? Just because you don't get everything you want, doesn't mean you aren't respected. In fact people who accept that they can't always have their way, are willing listen to others and compromise, are typically among the most respected.
