While I don't buy alcohol at games, I certainly don't think they should ban it. Let the schools decide. Why is it that it's becoming Person A wants to be telling Person B what he can and can't do it in everything? Let people/places decide what they want to do with their own lifes and leave them alone.

No one does seem to protest anything other than Native American names. I don't really understand it either. I can see Native Americans not protesting say Notre Dame, but why don't the non-Native Americans protest these names? They protest Indian Nicknames, why not other nicknames also?
-
So if there were no living Lakota/Dakota/Nakota tribes, then the Sioux name would be ok? By the logic you are using, if we murder all Native Americans, then it's ok for us to have Indian nicknames because they are no longer a living people. Notre Dame keeping it's nickname is not consistant with Penbrooke being allowed to keep their name. Notre Dame was not founded by the Irish. I mean just think about it, the schools is called Notre Dame. The Notre Dame Cathedral is in Paris. Notre Dame is French for Our Lady. Why in the would the Irish found a school and name it this? Wouldn't they have simply named it Our Lady University or Mary University?

Which is why you are right about contacting Congressmen and such. Now if only I didn't have a job and actually had time to craft an articulate yet verbose letter on the virtues of the name. Hey wait! I don't have a job and I do have time!

Why do they do many things and then backtrack on their stance? They are the NCAA and a bunch of morons. Really? As far as the nickname, look at the fourth paragraph. Again, why is Fighting Irish different from Fighting Sioux?

I don't think it will go all the way through a court battle. Once FSU shows they are serious, the NCAA will grant FSU an exeption and that will open the door for schools like UND, Illinios and Utah to also apply for an exemption. UND will bring up many positives of the name and the programs it has supporting Native Americans and they will also get an exemption. Schools will be grandfathered in like they are in many NCAA rulings and this legislation will be reworded so that schools can not change their nickname to a Indian one and host tournaments. You are right that UND can't just sit on it's butt and depend on FSU though. For those of us who don't live in North Dakota, can we or should we still contact Pomeroy, Conrad, Dorgan or our representatives. It would seem to be more prudent to contact the ND representatives, but I don't know.

Maybe I'm naive and overly optomistic, but I really don't think this is going to last very long. The NCAA passed this law as more of a political statement then anything else. I really don't believe that they will enforce it as it currently stands. Things will change about it. Much like when the NC$$ passed that rule about no tournament autobids going to conferences with schools that aren't full time DI, somehow UND will be grandfathered in or something. Eventually the rule will become no school can change their name to an Indian nickname and host tournaments. The same thing with uniforms. Any uniform currently worn can continue to be worn, but no new uniforms may be worn that contain an Indian nickname during NCAA events. Another reason why this won't stand is because eventually, DI football will pull it's head out of it's butt and have a playoff. There is no way in hell Florida State will allow themselves to be pushed around by this law when it comes to football. None. Heck they won't allow themselves to be pushed around when it comes to baseball Regionals and Super Regionals. Same thing goes for Illinois. As I said, the NCAA did this for a political statement. They don't want to go through the hassle of fighting with memeber schools over this. I highly doubt the NCAA has the resolve the FSU, UND, IU, Catawba, etc. have about this. They just want to enforce their will on others without having to fight about it. Should, I mean when a fight over this occurs, the NCAA will fold. As I said though, maybe I'm just naive.

So true. This is the one reason I want Robbie to come back. The reception he'll get will be phenomenal.
-
Don't know if this has been asked yet, but with this stupid ruling, does this mean that UND won't be allowed to host playoff FB games? I certainly hope not.
-
I'll do it! And I'll wear the cool shirt too! Screw you NC$$!!!
-
I'd like to see them try to enforce that. I mean it, I'd like to see them try to stop me. I'll go crazy and I'm pretty shifty!! They'd never catch me! I'd hide in the women's bathroom. HA HA!

Nah, that's OK. I already have one jersey from this year, don't really need another one. A guy was selling Panzer's alternate jersey a couple months ago and couldn't sell it at $200. I was tempted to get it because I've heard the guy is a jerk and I know for a fact that he paid about $300 for it. Him losing money would be funny!

Summer. Don't read. Give abstract.
-
I was hoping no one would find out about this and they would keep dropping the starting price until it was like $150. I need the home jersey to go along with the road jersey I have. No chance of that happening now. Thanks alot.

Perfect. Now we got like four months to think of the what to say in the sign.
-
Is there a way to get a high res. picture of Spirko burning Harrington? There needs to be a sign made for the Gopher series.
-
Just wondering why a WCHA official would be reffing a game in Dayton, Ohio. Why wouldn't there be CCHA officials?
-
Like I said before, who cares? Schneider stinks!
-
The article was written by C.J. She's the gossip columnist for the Red Star. That's why it's in the paper, she writes about stupid crap no one really cares about. Why I know this, is beyond me.

Finley, 3 seconds into his first shift, Miami.
-
They can strike for all I care, it'll just make the National Semifinal game all the easier for UND.
-
You're welcome. I am great, aren't I? I'll be at all the football games this year, so you can come here and get my autograph if you want.
-
Hmm, your campaign here seems about as successful as New Coke.
-
The late signing period ends today, so I don't think UND could get another player unless he is a walk-on. I don't totally understand the signing stuff though so I'm probably wrong.
