  1. Good win for the boys. This is what has to happen when the opposition comes into their house: They shove a huge can of bitch slappin' up the opponent's sphincter. Yeah, it's the most fabulous ice rink in the universe. Don't mean you're gonna enjoy the visit.
  2. As TH said last night, if Canada doesn't win the gold, they'll blame it on all the NCAA players that are on the team.
  3. Notwithstanding the late technical probs (post-game). Web audio was pleasantly strong and clear tonight.
  4. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it improves 'em.
  5. Send Big Brad over there to straighten 'em out!
  6. I hope BSU doesn't have any more guys that haven't scored yet. Seems to be a weakness the Sioux have, giving goals up that are the first of the year for opposing players. Let's go guys: Play hard and smart!
  7. Yo, bigmouth, little history lesson: Donny in reference to Zach Parise his freshmen year: "We (UMN) don't need a freshmen to carry the mail for us". Get it now ?! (finally?)
  8. Wow, I think you guys really need to watch Toews. I think he's playing very good even if it isn't showing up on the scoresheet. He has great vision and FANTASTIC anticipation and is usually very good with the puck. The best thing about him, though, is his play without the puck, especially for someone that will be 17 all season long. I thought he was maybe the best player on the ice on Friday and while he wasn't as good last night, he was still no slouch. There are a lot of players whose weekend I'd ctriticize before Toews, and I'm sure the coaches have done a good job letting them know who they are. Potulny and Irmen play so well at the Ralph, I bet they wish they'd opted to play half their games there. True, the Sioux are in danger of not making the tournament, especially when you stop to consider that it is unlikely that more than four will make the field from the WCHA. Given their home record, if they to make it, can they opt to play the first round on the road? This was the best I've seen UMN play all year. The Sioux were not far behind. They get it together, they'll be really tough to beat. If they don't, hey, they're playing nine freshmen every game, two of which should still be in high school. Let's not be guilty of unrealistic expectations. Last year I was PO'ed because they should have been doing much better with such an experienced team.
  9. They didn't call it when that mouth-breather DeMarchi (sp?) did it to Tyler P., why would they do it now? Sorry, that one still chaps my ass. Sioux are young and were outplayed for long stretches of both games, but it still bites. The dirty yellow vermin got the benefit of every bounce and call all weekend. It really reminds me of all last year and the last game of the 2003-2004 season vs. Denver.
  10. Did anyone listen to Greg L. interview Shepherd Sr. on radio tonight? He said, unsolicited (in fact Greg L.gave him an out by saying he didn't want him to directly comment on last night's call) that opposing players should not be allowed to screen goaltenders in the crease. Meaning of course that he thought his useless jackbag of a son got the call WRONG last night. That along with the goal Oshie clearly scored tonight (and the jackbag had full benefit of replay and contemplation), indicates to me that Shepherd is at best incompetent as a 'stripe' and at worst a Sioux hater (one is forced to suspect that he receives cash payment from the opposition), which he allows to affect his professional duties. A man can only take so much. I can take no more. Should I ever meet Derek Shepherd in person, he can expect to have his ass well and thorughly kicked. He is stealing the price of admission to WCHA games out of my pocket. OOOPS! Looks like MK beat me to it.
  11. As Hak said in the post-game, Sioux were too tight. Very loosey-goosey on the officiating and the vermin seemed to take better advantage of that. As I read and understand it, player can be in the crease as long as it's not relevant to the goal. I think the kesshole goal is definitely stretching that definition, but hey, can't expect any better from daddy' s boy (useless incompetent jackbag). Boys need to come back tomorrow (after Shepherd meets with an unfortunate, yet completely innocent, accident) and play with energy and confidence.
  12. Sweeney now interviewing Hendu and showing '97 title game highlights. Damn good stuff.
  13. Sioux look over jacked. they need to settle down a little. Vermin are sure selling those penalties. Sioux knew they had to keep Potulny and Kesshole off the board, and guess who has the vermin goals. Sweeney interviewing that useless hack McClod (WCHA commish). Somebody ought to arrest him for stealing, 'cause he sure as hell ain't earnin' or deservin' his salary.
  14. Nothin' but dead air now on webaudio.
  15. The word 'hockey' appears in his letter 4 times; 3 times in one of the shorter paragraphs of the letter and once in the paragraph following. I think it's a bit much to characterize this as "beats the 'hockey horse' a bit much".

I agree CB didn't have a great game, but turnovers are what really killed the Sioux. Mussman's play calling is atrocious though. That's what led to Grossman losing the ball in the 4th. He caught the ball, but the DB knew it was coming so he got there the same time as the ball and just ripped it away and took it. How 'bout some play-action? How 'bout lining Dressler up in the slot? How 'bout some pump fakes off the short routes (esp. the bubble screens) for a big gainer down field? Dressler needs at least 15 offensive touches/game.
  17. It's VERY early, no need to panic. Also, without being able to see the games, it's very hard to come to any real conclusions regarding the boys' play. We knew they were going to lose sometime, but as mentioned previously by others, I expected their losses to be of the 6-5 variety, not shutouts. Lots of penalties that really seemed to take ANY flow out of the game. Ice was said to be very bad, which can certainly lead to very unpredictable results. Hope the youngins learn from this and learn quickly, as the WCHA season is right around the corner, and it will only get more difficult.
  18. Regarding the shot on the wide open net that Miami had change direction for no apparent reason: Tim H. and Hak talked in the pre-game about how bad the ice was. Perhaps this is the explanation.
