  1. I don't know. Why don't you clue us in?
  2. You know, I thought the same thing - not to make excuses for a really bad team performance, but I remember also wondering after Hak's comments on Miller earlier in the week if this week we'd see others on the team come down with the flu bug. Hak usually plays it pretty close to the vest, but I was surprised that even he didn't rip into the boys at least a little bit after the game. If the flu was making its way through the team, that might explain why. If it is indeed the case, I hope they recover more quickly than Miller - sounds like he had a really tough go with it. They'll need to have everyone available, feeling well and playing well this weekend against UMN. UMN is a really frustrated team that is looking to take it out on somebody. Hopefully they have at least one more week of frustration.
  3. So in order to play @ BSU, UMTC would likely have to get a waiver from their own athletic department! Gee, sure sounds like an impenetrable barrier to me. Perhaps you should be the last to criticize the reasonableness of others' posts on this site. Just an observation: It would seem that those lobbying for inclusion of BSU into the WCHA (on this board) have strong ties to Bemidji. Everyone else seems to think otherwise. If BSU needs scheduling help, they need to exhaust all avenues for getting a 2 @ home and 2 @ away series' set from each of the in-state DI schools before going to the WCHA. If the WCHA agrees to allow BSU in, it needs to be contingent upon BSU having an arena with 6,000+ capacity.
  4. My take on this is that if Canadian schools become NCAA members, there will be much more competition for recruits from Canada. I may be naive, but I think UND will still be okay, because of its proximity to Canada, its facilities, its tradition, its history of recruiting in Canada, and its all Canadian coaching staff. I think it a good move for UND because I believe the BTHC may be imminent. If UND cannot get an "associate" membership in the BTHC (which, quite frankly, I think likely), a new WCHA comprised of the remaining "old guard" WCHA (UND, CC, DU, MTU and probably UMD) and the new Canadian schools would allow UND to be a member of the other power conference in the NCAA. It would probably make sense to add UAA as well. Why? Because, as some seem to have forgotten, by traveling to UAA the NCAA has ruled that those games do not count against the allowed maximum (efectively amounting to "extra" games in the schedule). I believe also that UAA is still required to pay for all expenses associated with league members traveling to play them at home.
  5. Please PM me if you have the subject for sale. Please include price. Thanks
  6. For which we can all be thankful.
  7. Actually, I think your comment would go over quite well in Dinkytown.
  8. It will be interesting to see the next defense by Teeder11 of his friends at the Heraldo.
  9. I agree, I think Woog was sandbagging. Looks like some of our fans are buying it. I'm hoping the boys aren't.
  10. Am I missing something? Why did some hispanics find "Pork Chop" offensive?

    UND v GVSU

I agree. If the Sioux wanted to play at home, they should have beaten UNO (a home game). I'm a huge Sioux fan, but facts is facts.
  12. Points are earned only in conference games. This was a non-conference game.
  13. Last year there were rumors that Genoway was really wowin' 'em in practice. Anything similar regarding any of the newcomers?
  14. Ira, that is an extremley depressing post. I really hope you're way off base on this one.
  15. I'd be very surprised if you have the faintest clue about which you are talking.
  16. You got it, Dan (Quayle).
  17. DING-DING-DING-DING!!! That is the correct answer. To the other contestants: Thanks for playing!
  18. f s1 and 7 National Titles: You two, with your exceedingly snide and condescending posts, are doing more to generate sympathy for Buning than any of his supporters could hope to do on their own. I am not a supporter of Buning, nor was I calling for his head. I simply don't know enough about the situation to form that strong of an opinion. I know it is unlikely that sworn statements from all of the main players in this story will be produced for public consumption. On the surface and to the average Sioux fan, things seemed to be relatively ship-shape: UND was moving to DI. Department was in the black. The two biggest name coaches were signed to new contracts. Success on the field of competition was high (as it was before Buning arrived). UND gained entrance into the Great West. There was also a lot of rumored grumbling going on under the surface: Lennon interviewed at MSU because he was unhappy. Lennon was unhappy because Buning scheduled UNI without consulting Lennon. Coaches were unhappy because they had to do all the scheduling themselves. Buning didn't think Hak deserved an extension prior to the final year of his current contract. Coaches were upset because their staffs and their staffs pay were being cut (or paltry raises were awarded). Buning provided no leadership or decision making. Buning was an inflexible leader that brooked no opposition in his decisions. Etc, etc. I have no way of knowing whether these rumors were true. Some, in fact, seemed contradictory. There was, however, one hell of a lot of smoke, and generally, where there's smoke, there's fire. I really don't have a dog in this fight. I want what is best for UND as a whole, not just for any one individual. But in my candid opinion, none of the rumors listed above seemed concrete enough to warrant his immediate dismissal. Obviously people in his department were not happy with his performance - but again - why were they unhappy? I know what follows will go unheeded, but NONE OF THE ABOVE SHOULD BE CONSTRUED AS A STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR BUNING. Nor should be construed as a statement of support for his dismissal.
  19. Sica, Sounds good but I like what GeauxSioux and I have in mind better. You see, in my dream, I want sunshine on my face and real grass on the field.
  20. I too have thought this to be the way to go. It would demonstrate original thinking instead of the Fargo Dome inspired "me-tooism" of the Alerus. I think it would be the best of all possible worlds, better even than a retractable dome (not that a retractable dome is a realisitic possibility).
  21. I know that I am probably in the minority, but I don't like the one posted above by AZSIOUX - I find it to be far too derivative.
