Before the year I didn't think it would be a conversation between McKenna and Verhoeff going number 1 Unless things drastically change it'll definitely be a discussion once this summer hits IMO
-
In similar news - Noticed last night that Aden Bouchard and Ludovic Pearault now follow UND hockey on instagram.
-
Agreed, don’t envy what he’s had to go through the past few months. (Guessing) that all 3 of the coaches have likely sat down with him this week to make sure he’s doing alright mentally as a person first before even getting to hockey.

The NCHC app not being on samsung TV's app store yet is pretty frustrating as well while we're at it

I think they’re gona be a little offensively challenged maybe this year. They seem to not have too much depth outside of Potter and a couple others Did see a group of their fans don’t seem to be opposed to moving on from Powers (it’s a cool story that he’s the coach from the club team. But on the flip side he’s a club hockey coach) would be interesting to see who they bring in if they moved on from him.

Good catch. He definitely has a grounded family that isn’t concerned with him making it to the show as fast as possible -
Nonconference Schedule Now and in Future under new leadership

That would check out with Michigan. I'd like to almost throw BC in that group too. It has to be 20 years+ since they've come to Grand Forks? We visited them last during the "Fog" game in Boston. (I'm not counting the ice breaker in my view because they're coming more for the tournament since they got invited, not because they went out of their way to work out a scheduled visit with UND) -
Our apologies for letting Hobie hit the portal as well lol.

Yeah good to call this out. But more or less shows just how young the Dub has already gotten in 1 year. Not nearly as many 19/20 year olds for these draft +1/2 players to play and develop against. (Reschny and Verhoeff left last year due to wanting to play against older players and now that point is almost 2 times as true for players currently coming up in the Dub.)

Looks like McKamey is close to healthy since he made the team? (Tourney starts November 2nd) Noted Sioux game attendee Brock England is also playing for team Red
-
Still early in the season but if you sort the NCAA top scorers to U20 ages and the WHL it tells the tale pretty quickly I think every player outside of 1 was drafted in the NCAA in the top 30 (meanwhile it was around 5 in the top 30 for the WHL) Would assume this makes the decision pretty straightforward, just follow where your drafted peers are going.

If the team keeps building on how they played last weekend I could definitely see a sweep happening. This team seems to be willing to play closer to a Hak style team (and the last time we swept them at home, Hak was the coach. January of 2009)

Are we talking Mac Swanson? -
If the player wants to I think the agent tells the coach and team to take a hike. It’s probably 2-3 games missed max assuming they take a couple visits
-
The last time they were in the frozen 4, 2 of their best players were from AZ and PA haha. I don't think they necessarily need to go too overboard with Canadian players, but at the bare minimum you'll need to have around 4 impact guys on defense + offense to keep up with the level of play with everyone else on a consistent basis.

ESPN2 showing the MSU vs BU game this Friday. For program visibility primarily would be nice to see UND leave the TV rights open for at least the Gopher series at home so ESPN was a possible option. Getting the feeling the NCHC will more than likely be taking the TV and streaming to ESPN. Encouraging to see ESPN showing some interest in college hockey present day

Think it’s important to note for context that he thankfully is overcoming a pretty brutal alcohol addiction. He can be a little much but he’s at least he comes off genuine and if this job keeps him happy and in a good place I’ll take it. (The latter is his life + the family’s going down the drain again)

Yes correct -
If you’re into that history aspect I think Matthew’s wins as the coolest spot. It’s hosted just about every event you can think of. I think it’s the oldest sporting arena in the US as well
-
I think most of us know but if you are dying to get to Matthew’s arena you need to go within the next month or so (they’re demolishing it in December unfortunately, think it has some major structural issues going on)

Saw a Rangers scout there. Granted he was likely scouting other players as well but would be an all time collapse by the rangers if they get the chance to draft McKenna lol -
Agreed on above. We've got good depth so might as well take advantage of it and not rush him back.
-
So good news actually! (very likely we wouldn't be in the running with a kid from Edina anyways) Looks like St Thomas may be the new Notre Dame hahah
-
Anyone know of any Pre-game bars hosting UND events in St paul before puck drop on Sunday?

Agreed on the Kernan takes. Was very impressed with how he played plus he looks massive and can fly around.
