Didn’t watch him play in Fargo at all but based on his stat line this year was curious if he would actually go to MSU for 2026. Preston seems like a slim possibility but I don’t think this is new news behind the scenes so my guess is he knew this already when he decided to back to the WHL for one more year

Looking ahead to the Hall of Fame Game vs MSU, curious to see who picks thay up on TV. For promo of the school would rather see it picked up by FS1 / Big Ten network honestly compared to Midco. (Guessing it’ll be Midco probably though)

Schloss mentioned in his column the Ruck Twins will be a UND target to recruit to bring in 2027-2028 as most of us guessed

Based on this draft class I could see him going in the 25 - 32 range. Based on his jump this year he’s as sure a thing as those other prospects in that range If he hits he’s could be a solid 2/3 pair d man + if you think of teams in that range he could be ready to jump in to playing in 2 years as well since some of those teams are more of your cup contenders

Agreed on Verhoeff regarding the microscope. Plus along with that microscope he played in the Hlinka, WJC, and the U-18's, on top of playing the max length of college season you can play (outside of 1 game). Think he's earned a much deserved little break this summer to do a reset and refocus on his improvements which I'm confident he will.

Will be much more quiet than it was last year since most players are decided on going to college next year / back to JRs for the select few.

Also per the athletic pod sounds like a lot of teams weren’t very fond of Tommy Bleyl opting to return to the Q since he already tore it up. Apparently he wants more ice time than just being on MSUs 2nd pair. (A little greedy by him IMO)

With that being the case think he checks a lot of boxes for UND. Likely Zellers replacement. Can reset in the WHL and round out his game a little more so he’d be a guy that can make an impact right away when he steps foot on campus.

Happy that it will keep some kids in high school longer in MN to play in the state tourney. Should be similar to now where the decent players jump after JR/SR year to juniors. Would’ve likely been after sophomore year if the previous rule had passed

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if yall are battling it out with Wisco for 3rd in the big 10 and hell if some breaks go Minny’s way who knows maybe even compete for top 2. Not as likely but never know with injuries + hockey can be random as we all know.

We were the only school possibly in the mix that has a 1st round pick on the right side that we'd have to push down to the 3rd pair / play on their off side. Put us behind the eight ball compared to MSU and Michigan unfortunately. Just how the timing worked out with who was in our system heading into next year. Think the staff was upfront about if he was coming here the ice time was going to be pretty spread out and that likely took us out of the running.

Agreed - He was the one player that came to mind that will be solid for them. The fan "conspiracy" take would be that Freschwieler is preoccupied with possibly interviewing with the Kings in LA...

Western has been woefully quiet in recruiting it seems like but Pat will find a way like he typically does.

Pridham struggled quite a bit during the OHL playoffs from what I heard on the Athletic pod. Had a couple of games where it sounded like he was getting 5 minutes per game because he wasn't effective whatsoever. Based on that report not very bummed about missing out on him. (Now Command and Lars Steiner I'm a little bummed about, but the staff pursued them but they signed pro deals. It happens)

Always felt like Michigan would be the favorite for Dupont, not a huge shocker. They have the wide open spot at 1RHD that other schools don't really. The one shocker from Scott's article is that Cameron Reid apparently hasn't committed to a school yet. (Jeff Marek had said he was going to Michigan a few months ago but maybe that fell through?)

If we can hit on Brock England / Fitz Henry + swing Brock Cripps as well at RHD the Ruck Twins could end up being gravy on top lol. Wishful thinking but hopefully comes to fruition

Remember seeing Cole Smith posted up at Joe Blacks a few times back in the day, so based on that will guess him

Scott Wheeler had a write up about them and they were honest with NHL teams that if it worked out the preference would be to play together. Obviously you can pick your path in the NCAA so I’d be very shocked if they weren’t a package deal

Yeah I'd say he's definitely just not trying to hurt any feelings on the situation. Think alot of these reporters are either clueless or just trying to put him in a tough spot with their questioning. A little odd that his coach is doing the same thing by throwing the idea out there that he could be back. Trying to put a 17 year old kid in a weird spot like that is a tough look hahah.

Little interesting in that Tommy Bleyl seems pretty comparable to Daxon Rudolph so a little weird that MSU isn't just bringing in Tommy Bleyl. Wonder if they go that route if they miss out on Rudolph

The intent + spirit of the rule when they made it was so you couldn’t cherry pick 5+ feet past the blueline for offense lol. Not nitpick if someone’s was 5 centimeters offside

If you want to get into technicalities to sue I don’t believe any hockey players were on the panel that voted for this (there were other athletes tho in general for other sports. So “technically” was not collectively bargained. Thats my amateur guess of how someone in the hockey community could attempt to sue
