  1. Agreed on above, think its in his best interest to play 2 years of NCAA then make the jump. Everyone's in a rush tho....
  2. Penn state will be very interesting to watch this 2nd half of the year. They could very well be a bubble team and with the added depth for some teams in the ECAC and CCHA we could be due for 2 bid stealers from each conference. (assuming Quinnipiac and Mankato stay high enough in the NPI) They're going to have some very precarious games to play in for NPI purposes. They'll have chances obviously to bolster their NPI rank vs the high end teams in the Big Ten but based on how those games went early on this year they'll have to really battle to split most of those. (33) RIT home and away without McKenna and Jackson Smith (Both gone at world juniors UNLESS! Ethan Mackenzie beats out Smith for a left D spot) (27) Minnesota - 2 games (52) Notre Dame - 4 games. It seems like Notre Dame is bound to improve some during the 2nd half of the year.
  3. I think a really good comp is Bryce Pickford who went in the 3rd round to Montreal last year. MacKenzie is 5 months younger in comparison https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/733570/bryce-pickford
  4. Simpson seems similar to Zellers where mostly his shot gets talked about but is also a very solid setup man as well.
  5. Nevermind, looks like he made it!
  6. From the names I’ve seen thrown around looks like Reschny didn’t get an invite. Pretty surprising. Seems like a guy that could play responsible while adding offense on your bottom 6. Will be interesting to see if Team Canada allows Keaton to stay in GF for the series then head out to camp on Sunday.
  7. A good learning lesson for sure. Still crazy with the context though, Thoreson gives him a cross check to try and make him fall off balance backwards so he gives him a love tap in the stomach. To call a major on a play where the player isn’t even remotely harmed (because with context it was obviously a love tap) seems excessive. Extremely weak argument to say the play elevated to the severity of a major penalty.
  8. Boomer Demars with the Teddy Bear Toss goal tonight for Penticton
  9. Just finished listened to Called up the Prospects Pod. Couple of relevant notes Sounds like Harrison Brunicke and Zayne Parekh will likely both be loaned from their NHL teams. Ben Danford is apparently going to get an invite as well. All 3 are righties so it may not be as likely that Verhoeff makes the team as once thought. Also, there are rumblings that Carson Carels makes the team since the left side of their defense is lacking some depth compared to the right side.
  10. The way Hockey Canada handled the summer showcase with players showing up late and leaving early makes me feel somewhat optimistic that they will be okay with Reschny and Verhoeff showing up on Sunday to camp. With the camp starting on the 12th I think theyre being over dramatic if they show up 2 days later. Not to mention they'll likely have a couple of guys showing up from AHL/NHL later than the 12th if I had to guess.
  11. Will be interesting to see how Heil does in the World JRs. He seemed to fare pretty well during the the summer showcase when he played. Would be nice to see him take the net and go on a run with the US team.
  12. Wisco is the weird case I think you can have an argument about them being one but they’ve been so down the past few years before Hastings I would say they aren’t considered. (Nit picking tho) I guess the point being is players rarely leave a good development situation to go to one that’s of the same level so it’s just interesting to see how it plays out
  13. Pretty surprised with how he's started so far. (Will give him a little bit of a break based on being injured) Have no stats to back this up but I want to say he's the first 1st round pick to transfer from blue blood to blue blood?
  14. I'd love to see UND pull out any Gopher home games + the HOF destination games from Midco's rights in the future. Market those to ESPN/Fox (FS1, Big 10 network), CBSSN. Optimistic that one of those networks would likely pick up the games. Getting those specific games on National TV in lieu of Midco is in the better interest of the school IMO. (worst case, you sell the rights off to Midco). (This might get solved anyways once the 2026-2027 season ends if the NCHC goes to ESPN for streaming/TV rights.)
  15. ^^^ That was one of the better ones to date. Just let the players take the camera for a good chunk for each episode and then edit it down for the final cut. It's simple easy authentic content
  16. That is the funny part. Bob himself thought that Kvasnicka wasn't good enough to play on his own college hockey team this year so he put him in JRs for another year. But apparently he's now good enough to get a look at the WJC roster instead of a guy that almost has double digit goals already as a freshman in college hockey. I don't really buy that Zellers can't play in the bottom 6 as well, think he'd be good to adapt and play whatever role they need from him.
  17. I think Will was going to need to earn his way on to the team at prelim camp but based on how he's played I think he probably deserved a look over Kvasnicka (Will is a year older as well and the WJC is typically best served for 19 y/o players). Granted, fair argument that neither makes the team after prelim selection is over. Bummed for Will though Think Will is going to come out a little pissed off this Friday in St Cloud.
  18. I do agree the access has been a great improvement, still feel like its lacking a bit though still compared to what it used to be. Think it can be a great tool for recruiting now days especially so would like there to be a little more content involved each week.
  19. While we are on the topic, Midco has corporatized the f out of Through these Doors since they took over producing it. Used to be 15-20 minute episodes but now it’s 5 minutes max most weeks. They’re lacking compared to the other content put out by schools
  20. He keeps on taking steps every game recently, exciting to see.
  21. Notre Dame (54) and the Gophers (40) are going to throw some wrenches at the other big 10 teams during conference play
  22. I actually thought he had back tracked a little. ( I don't think he tried to compare the CHL to the NCAA once? which is smart, you're losing that battle.) He seemed to be selling the CHL vs the USHL as a development path which is what he should be doing. That's who he's truly competing against.
  23. Think at this point in time seems like we'll likely bring in below forwards IMO O'Neill Simpson Williams High end CHL forward (Steiner, etc) Depth forward - Schultz Mike McMahon mentioned recently that apparently now the only players counting towards the "26 player cap" are players that came in as freshman this year. (so in other words the cap won't really affect "opt-in" teams until 1-2 years down the road once all the grandfathered in players have graduated.) With that being the case I'd guess UND does something like above.
  24. Looking at their roster he seems like he may be their best NHL prospect by a good margin. (Could be a case where he would rather announce it after the year. Who knows)
  25. As a UND fan I’m very okay with this extension
