Calling a spade a spade as Jax would say hahah. Mac Gadowsky is a good example of players that feast on Atlantic hockey teams then struggle once they get to a tougher conference. Watching him live when ASU played Penn State it was pretty crazy to remember he actually made the Hobey top 10 in 2025.
-
Tricky part is I think Chayka might be willing to sell Carle on giving him the roster control (But at the same time not sure I would trust Chayka to follow through haha)
-
Until this year Hak was the most recent coach to help both the Flyers and the Kraken both make the playoffs. Tells ya something about the teams he was handed by his GMs haha (not counting the Covid flyers playoff year)
-
very fair points hahah In his defense time does have its own value. So the NHL team has to make the jump worth while and suit him so he doesn’t view it as wasting his own time. If he doesn’t get some portion of control of the roster making I think he views too much risk of it going wrong. (Then he has in fact wasted his time)

2026-27 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
atxsioux replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I’ll take that excitement of Frozen Four Thursday all day over what we had in years 2016 thru 2025 lol. -
Look at the back ends of the blue bloods for next year. It’s pretty jamb packed for those schools in the West at least that seem to be in the game for these recruits. If that wasn’t the case then yes slim odds agreed Chase Reid is a righty at MSU Ryan Lin is a righty at Denver Good players definitely don’t mind playing with good players as the saying goes.

Now Bryn and Co can narrow their sites on Dupont / Rudolph. Keep the momentum rolling!
-
Friedman confirmed on 32 thoughts that the Maple Leaf's have been in contact already with David Carle during their coaching search. Will be interesting to watch play out
-
The only big fish that doesn’t have a jamb packed blue line on the right side is Michigan really from what I see So I see it as either he goes to Michigan but if he decides they aren’t a fit we have as legit a shot of landing him as the other blue bloods (im assuming he doesn’t entertain any blue blood East of the State of Michigan)
-
Perfect time for a recruit to make a commitment then lol. Sounds like UND was in heavy on Alex Command before he signed his pro deal in Sweden per yesterday’s called up Pod. Nice to see Chyz and team making pitches to the Euro guys. Something we’ve lacked in the past few years for recruiting IMO
-
Schloss has been eerily quiet this week… Curious if we hear some commit news today
-
They would have to offer something like 7-10 million per year for him to leave present day but who knows Chayka might be the one GM that would allow him control in building the team. (Making the assumption that he would be more open minded than when he was in Phoenix. Plus if you allow Carle to take more control of roster building it takes ALOT of the Toronto media heat off of him)
-
Helps your D out so much when your forwards aren't constantly turning it over at the blueline and feeding a team's transition going the other way. IMO that was the bigger issue at times in 2024-2025 when our defense was struggling. They had normal growing pains +++ were put into defending way too often when they never should have been from the jump
-
Example - Tyler Young was pretty close to being just as impactful as Eric Nilson or Cayden Lindstrom.
-
Looks like he’s now following a few of the Nodak boys (Sandy and Menghini)
-
They got that sequence a little jumbled with how they talked about but they were talking about Albert Smits actually. Rewound a couple of times to double check that lol
-
They also mentioned on the pod that Carter Meyer is leaving the NTDP after this year to play in the Q which will definitely be a blow. Heard a few players were leaving but naively felt it wouldn’t be any of their top players haha. Seems like they could lose a few more big ones now who knows
-
Xavier Villeneuve to BU very likely it sounds like per the latest called up pod. Not a huge shocker with him being a Quebec kid
-
If you're a BU fan with hockey being your #1 sport being kicked out of the Patriot League isn't exactly the end of the world IMO lol
-
Not sure if another young late 1st / 2nd rounder is what BU needs. Seems like they could use some older D+1 CHL players. They kinda got burned by the same type of player last year (Fondrk, Murtagh, Amico all come to mind as guys that should've all been in JRs last year)
-
If Cale Makar can play two years of college post draft year it makes me lean towards thinking Carels will be a 2 year player. Defensemen typically take longer to develop.
-
The con with that is the 2 vs 3 game for the most part is still going to likely have poor attendance. (granted, assuming the 1 seed wins, 2 out 3 games at the regional should be well attened)
-
I don't know how much more the ticket allocations should expand. The attendance at the Wisco vs UND game had 1 section for Michigan fans and 1 section for Denver fans that was very empty until halfway through the game when their fans finally started filing in. If you make the allocation larger for those lower bowl sections it's only going to get worse IMO
-
If you want to get college hockey on TV more often during the regular season, Bucci's idea is the best way IMO. You can sell all the top programs in a package to a TV network. The big issue IMO is the Big 10 teams likely don't break off from their current TV deal (however maybe Fox would be the ones to take on the TV rights and air the non-big ten team games on FS1, etc) Being able to flip on games consistently on Big 10 network, FS1, and FS2 would be an improvement over the current system

The age thing is so dumb. In College football and basketball unless you are a stud freshman you play sparingly if any. The guys that do play are the exception, same thing as in hockey. Majority of freshmen football players in a class redshirt for 1 whole year, then maybe play some in year 2. Then by year 3 you hop into the lineup and play. So instead of redshirting + not playing for almost 2 years you play JR hockey instead for 1-2 years.
