  1. I'm guessing he would've been offer sheet eligible next summer and they wanted to get ahead of someone offering then driving up the price. Seems like a risk to those on the outside but if he scored 50-60 points next year none of us would be shocked. He also has a good cocky aura about him which IMO Carolina desperately needs on that team to help push them over the hump if you're going to beat a team like Florida in the playoffs.
  2. I thought the "new timeline" phrasing was announcing that it was delayed but not the case actually so good to hear they'll be ready to play there in fall of 2027. The one big takeaway from reading about the new arena was grab and go stations where you just scan and pay yourself. Really hope the REA team can get these added soon. (would definitely help cut down beer lines). Texas has it at their new basketball arena and it works VERY smoothly.
  3. Definitely more of a fan of these than the previous version. No numbers on the front is a big improvement, like the simple design as mentioned above (better than throwing to much color etc on the jersey) , 90s throwback vibe with the "North Dakota" script. (For some reference I'm aged late 20s with family members that went to UND in the 90s and I think this jersey will appeal to both my demographic + that 90s demographic - maybe I'm way off though who knows haha)
  4. Speaking of injuries - seems that Laurilla might be banged up currently. (They replaced him with a different defenseman for WJC summer showcase today)
  5. Not to mention having games in a big metro area would objectively make it easier for any away fans to travel to games if they wish. The current model has almost no games played in a major city. (which in turn "should" make it easier for TV crews to get there - another big argument or Wodon's concerns about feasibility) ASU (Phx) / Denver / Boston schools / MSP (gophers) are all very possible hosts for NCAA games.
  6. The odds of games being played directly in the city of Boston would be pretty high based on BU / BC being consistently good (then throw in Harvard and Northeastern once in awhile). Having big time playoff hockey in that city would be great to showcase the game. (Same story with the gophers hosting in Minneapolis.) Making random people notice at bars before and after games in those major cities is a great way for people to take notice of the sport. BU and BC you could argue have actually been hurt the past 20 years for fan base growth because instead of playing it in their metro they ship the meaningful playoff games to random east coast locations.
  7. Pretty much anything that doesn't include the god awful hawk logo I'm in favor for haha.
  8. Ya he ran cam in the 2017 frozen face off ship. Wolanin made sure to get as many shots in on Pionk before the refs pulled him off
  9. Optimistic that Bryn is teasing an upcoming recruit tour in the next day or so…
  10. Armstrong definitely seems to be a pretty big fan of the NCAA route. Based on his comments it appears he is leaning towards not rushing Desnoyers development and having him put on some weight.
  11. Was curious to see how the staff ironed out chasing some high end recruits while having back up plans. Seems like they were upfront with him about the process which he seemed to appreciate
  12. Brampton was trying there best to put Martone in an awkward spot. They posted about him coming back there for a charity game event a week or 2 ago. (curious if they even asked him before posting that)
  13. If money was the swaying factor for Martone + with him very likely being a 1 year player those 2 factors may have turned off UND's staff. Desnoyers is an April birth date, slighter build, and could probably stand to use a couple years to develop in the NCAA in lieu of being 1 and done. He's likely going to the WJC showcase in MSP later this week (there was a note about him maybe being banged up so that's why i'll say "likely" . Hopefully he takes a stop in Forks before heading there and we can get him to commit on the spot after walking the ralph.
  14. So ... Why in the world did McKenna go to Penn state? Just gets more baffling as time moves on in my opinion.
  15. Was meant to be a bit haha. (Denver? never heard of them)
  16. Saw a good reddit forum of schools without football so gona cherry pick the ones that fit the category of east coast, west coast, mystery area team. Some of these schools do well with basketball so in theory you'd think it wouldn't be "as much" of a financial burden if they can get hockey to run close to a net 0. (Creighton and Marquette come to mind as those types) Bradley Braves: Peoria, Illinois. Charleston Cougars: Charleston, South Carolina Creighton Bluejays: Omaha, Nebraska Denver Pioneers: Denver, Colorado DePaul Blue Demons: Chicago, Illinois Drexel Dragons: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Gonzaga Bulldogs: Spokane, Washington High Point Panthers: High Point, North Carolina La Salle Explorers: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Long Beach State Beach: Long Beach Loyal Chicago Ramblers: Loyola Chicago (Sister Jean Memorial Arena is 100% the name of it if they ever build it) Loyola Maryland Greyhounds: Baltimore, Maryland. Loyola Marymount Lions: Los Angeles Marquette Golden Eagles: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Pepperdine Waves: Malibu, California Portland Pilots: Portland, Oregon St Johns Red Storm: NY, NY Saint Joseph's Hawks: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Saint Louis Billikens: Saint Louis Saint Mary's Gaels: Moraga, California Saint Peter's Peacocks: Jersey City, New Jersey San Francisco Dons: San Francisco Santa Clara Broncos: Santa Clara, California UC Riverside Highlanders: Riverside, California UC San Diego Tritons: San Diego UC Santa Barbra Gauchos: Santa Barbra Xavier Musketeers: Cincinnati, Ohio
  17. Usually odds in Vegas are either primarily juiced by 2 thoughts of thinking. This team is loaded and likely to win it, need to lower the odds. We think ALOT of people will be betting on this team if we don't lower the odds. (Think this is more the case with Penn state, any casual who has just found out about college hockey last week would've been blindly betting on them just because they saw McKenna commit, Vegas is covering themselves of the risk) Seems like UND falls in this bucket alot more recently as well, I've usually looked at our odds and thought in reality we are listed as too much of favorite but it's due to the likely volume of bets that they assume will come from our fan base. And 100% agreed with the target on their back, this will be a brand new experience for Gadowsky and every single player on that team.
  18. The greedy side of us wants at the least 2 of the following guys to commit in the next 2 weeks - Ryan Roobroeck, Martone, Lawrence (flip him from BU for some revenge after they got Boisvert to transfer)
  19. Per McMahon's newsletter it sounds like Martone and Desnoyers are still being actively recruited by colleges. Good to hear Martone hasn't closed that door. Guessing it's BC still as the front runner for Desnoyers. Martone could very well be in GF for a visit any time now. (assuming they'd have him visit while players are in town before a good chunk of them leave for the world junior showcase that starts on the 25th)
  20. He's pretty much how you'd design a defenseman in a lab if you were an NHL team hahah. The only true complaint I've seen is some people would like to see his skating improve (or refined). When you watch his highlights though overall he can absolutely fly for being 6'4" and 210lbs. It's just cleaning up the details to his skating but at that point you're nit picking.
  21. per the scout "But I'll say this about Keaton: the term 'generational talent' has been thrown around a lot [last week] about McKenna. Keaton Verhoeff might be the best right-shot defenseman prospect I've ever seen. The kid's a unicorn. I believe he'll be the best right-shot defenseman to play in college since Cale [Makar], and he'll be playing college in his draft year-as a true 17-year-old. McKenna is an '07, and Verhoeff is an '08 who was only a few months away from being in the 2027 draft."
  22. Apparently Hockey Canada is looking at taking players off their teams starting in late November for the WJC. Hopefully they consult someone from the NCAA so they can tell them how ridiculous that is with how many games players could miss if they move forward that way.
  23. Stetcher as well
  24. Wonder if Bob knows that the CHL has European imports?
  25. Nathan Grav is pretty clued in + schloss reporting still has me pretty optimistic we are in the hunt. He still hasn't signed his ELC yet either. Hopefully they have him on campus this week touring and meeting all current players back skating this week.
