So is the team just practicing at the Al until this project is completed? A high school field? Possibly a pasture or a beat field? Is this a sign of what they plan to eventually play on in the Al? I would think you would want to practice on the same type of surface that you will be playing on. Or have those of you in the know heard if it will have soccer lines? I have always thought Memorial could be a nice soccer stadium. Bronson field just doesn't exactly scream DI.

I think that the thing that gives it a feminin quality in my eye is the lack of a mouth. For some reason that sticks out at me every time I look at it. I think a mouth drawn in correctly could give it more of a look of determination.

It's not exactly the same topic but the thread title fits. [url="http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=47848

Overall I like it. One question, though. Is it a man or a woman? And where is his/her mouth? Can we pluck his/her eye-brow? I guess that's 3 questions. I give it a thumbs up. Good job Jim. Dan

We'll let that one slide for now. Come November we will find out though. It should definately be a great game down in Vermillion this year. And hopefully both of our schools will meet up in the Alerus for the northwest region championship shortly after.

That same ad is in the regional Sports Illustrated issued dated 8/20/07, page ~53.. If it's the same one, It's UGLY.

Midcontinent Communications and The University of South Dakota Reach Broadcast Agreement to Televise Coyote Football! Looks good for the game being carried on the FSSN. Since the FSSN started, I have wanted to see it expand farther than just the games and slide-show advertising. I would love to see the weekly coaches show re-broadcast through out the week. Also, possibly play regular ads for the University, next weeks games, etc. Not just the still slides. This is a great marketing capability that the university has. Especially when you think of people such as those who are staying in hotels, in town visiting relatives, etc. that may not see the usual advertising. Having a 24 hour channel like this is great for the university. We should expand on it. Especially with our move to DI.

Our AD could beat up your AD. Well, really, he could.

Some of them. Definately not all of them. None the less, as the ad for UND on page 53 of the newest issue of Sports Illustrated points out, UND draws students from all 50 states and over 50 countries.

How about this one?!?!

As I pointed out in the away game thread, USD is going to be the most familiar school/program that we see for the next few seasons. It would be great to see lots of Sioux fans make the trek down to Vermillion and create a Sea of Green. However, for those of you who will not be able to make it, it looks like there is a good chance that our road game against USD will be on the FSSN! Coyote fans are saying on their board that the UND/USD game will be carried by Midcontinent Communications but they haven't heard who will be producing it. It would seem likely if Midcontinent is carrying it in SD that it will be shown on the FSSN. Has anyone around here heard if WDAZ has been discussing producing it or will it probably be a South Dakota station covering it? Link to the Coyotesports board.

Can I pick neither? Just kidding. Nothing against Bemidji but they are just not the type of school/program that I would want to see added to the WCHA. I don't want to give up games against the traditional rivals for conference games against BSU. As far as exposure, UAA does bring more than BSU would. There are already 4 Minnesota schools in the conference. The state of Minnesota is pretty well convered. However, UAA is the only Alaska school in the conference. As far as the proposed Bemidji Regional Events Center, I don't expect a school to have a palace as an arena. But the BREC will only seat 3,500. I would like to see any new schools to be able to pull in at least 5-6,000 fans or more. I also don't want to see any college hockey programs disappear. I would really like to see college hockey as a whole work to stabilize the CHA and work on finding new college hockey programs. I also would like to see UND continue the home/home series with BSU. I understand that they have to pay their bills and their fans want to see home games. Also, come time for playoffs, BSU is a good non-conference series to have on your schedule.

Small school. Small fan base. They wouldn't bring any additional exposure to the WCHA at all. Even if they do get their new arena, it is going to be very small compared to WCHA arenas. The only way I would want to see the WCHA expand is if it is with schools that have name recognition or bring some definate positives to the league.

No, their AD and president have said before that GVSU has no intentions of moving up to DI. Actually, GVSU is a fairly young school that is still building up it's alumni base. It was only started in the 60's.
-
I would have to say "no thanks" to BSU coming into the WCHA. Just my opinion though.

Anything besides Notre Dame's logo would make me happy.
-
Well, since this thread is still going... What annoys me?... Sioux fans who don't realize that the athletic department has sports besides men's hockey...
-
Who doesn't run into those every day?

I understand that the "arena" rumors are nothing but rumors. They have been chatted about for a couple of years. The trailer court just seemed to bring them closer to reality. That also made Coyote fans chat a bit more too. As an everything sports fan, I just hope that if the day comes up that USD does consider building a second arena seperate of the Dakotadome, they consider making it Ice capable!

Yes it is all relative. I really don't see people in GF comparing GF to LA, Chicago or NYC. However, I do see people from Fargo comparing themselves to MPLS, LA, Chicago and NYC. I've said it before, culturally GF and Fargo are the same. Nationally Fargo and GF are the same. Culturally, art wise, school wise, ect. they are the same. This last spring I was home for the graduation of my cousin in Williston. He is a big UND fan and is going to UND. His older sister is going to hair school in Fargo. She proceded to try and tell both of us how horrible UND/Grand Forks are. When we asked her why Frago was so much better than Grand Forks the only answere she could come up with was "Because, because." Typical person fron Fargo. They trained her well! Because, because. Can anyone really argue that there is any difference between Fargo and Grand Forks nationally?
-
If the rumors of USD getting a new basketball arena in place of their trailer court between the Dakotadome and the University are really true, the CHA (and if the WCHA is helpful) should really be trying to convince them to make it ice capable. (Just like the FargoDome). HEHE.

So much for the CHA hoping to at least get a DIII move up in hockey to join. This really limits the CHA's future. With Merceyhurst moving out of the GLIAC, it might be the CHA's best hope of romancing a school to join. Their future looks pretty slim.
