  1. Bunning said a long time ago that UND would play the bison in any sport. I don't think the bison's BB schedule is set yet for next year, and even if it is I think that you could buy out the bison-valley city game for $45.00 and have a UND-bison game in front of a packed BSA. And you can't say that football and men's BB are the only two sports that matter. Look at the success of the bison women in the 80's and UND's success in the 90's and 00's in women's BB. ndsu tradition in men's BB is very minute, excluding a couple of upset wins the last couple of years. And UND's tradition used to be very strong but most people now are into our womens program much more. Let's not all forget about when the UND baseball beat the bison a few years ago and about five minutes after the game the bison coaches broke the two year contract to play UND. Nobody wants to remember that.
  2. It's plain and simple that there are a few avid bison fans and alums that are putting pressure on Taylor not to play UND. His most recent excuse is that the other coaches for the bison might get upset if the football team plays UND before they do. Let's see, a sold out Fargodome where you could get premium bucks for a ticket or a soccer game in front of 50 people or a baseball game in front of 700 people. I think if Taylor had to do it all over again, he wouldn't have made that silly remark. Eddy just mocked Taylor about using that excuse the whole show. I don't think that the other bison coaches would be upset if we played in football before them. Bunning even said that UND would play the bison in every sport next year, so that excuse does hold water water. All the bison have to do is drop valley city off the BB schedule and it's game on. I know amy is a little scared to play UND, but I don't blame her. Maybe the real truth is that they saw that we beat N. Iowa in FB and they are a little worried that the little old DII school would give them more that what they can handle. Come on Taylor, accept the challenge. And mav, if you are a avid bison fan, no way would you rather see the bison play Georgia Southern instead of UND. By saying that you just admitted to not being much of a bison fan. And the dome would sell out in a HURRY for that game. I want to hear Taylor next excuse why they don't want to play UND next year.
  3. With the bison playing there 8th game this week against some utah team who has a losing record like all the other teams the bison have played, the question is this. Is there any other team in the country, other than the bison, where all the opponents played do not have a winning record? This is just a curious question that would be interesting to find out. I have heard alot of bison fans say this is there toughest schedule ever. This is hard to believe since none of the bison opponents so far, including this weekend, has a winning record. With this said, the bison are a hect of a team who out played the gophers on saturday, and I give them alot of credit for that accomplishment.
  4. Is the Alerus going to be charging for parking? I heard it was going to be $5.00 to park there. What's the latest?
  5. With the big win against UNI and starting off with 2 great road wins, I see a big crowd for saturday's game. I'm hoping for 11,000 but I think it will be around 10,000. You got two burners to watch (Dressler and Chappell, local kid). You got POTATO BOWL. First home game. And a bunch of players to watch that are unfamiliar to many sioux fans. I heard about three names yesterday that I have never heard of before. And they were all out there on Defense at the same time( D-line) and they held there own. I believe one was a freshman, one a sophomore, and one a junior. Is Brennan becoming the next Digger? What a game he had. Hect, if the weather is decent, there might be 10,000 people tailgaiting. O.K. not quite ten. What's everybody think for attendence this saturday?
  6. I agree dave. All the bison fans have been saying for 3 years is that there is a bis jump from DII to aa. And they all said that this game would prove the point. Well bison fans, "look at us now, look at us now". A little saying from Paul Allen "WERE COMING, WERE COMING". If some of the bison posters would have just been half a$$ed decent this would not turn to smack, but some of them got so cocky about this whole thing DII versus aa deal it is sick. Tell me know bison fans, what is the difference between DII and aa. Now I bet they all want to play for the NICKEL, which is locked down in G.F. for how long now. I might have some mistakes here, but it's three in the morning and the celebration is going strong.
  7. I got a good laugh that morning when K-DOG snapped on sywg and swore at him. Didn't the dog get banned from there show for like two weeks. Well, it just meant those other radio stations were busy taking calls from the dog.
  8. I know it's been said before. But I start laughing when ever I see this logo. Just look at the face and try to understand what it means. Is the cowardly lion sad, thinking, upset, confused, pissed off, or just tired. It is the weakest logo I have seen in a long time. At least it was well thought out.
  9. Doesn't leave much time to find a new coach. Schmidt would be a good replacement, but I don't know if he would leave crookston right now. He has a good thing going there. Good football team and a great young talented girls BB team. Lennon will be on Tim and Sywg show wednesday morning so he might address this at that time along with other important issues. It's about time that our radio guys have Lennon on to talk about FB and the news worthy D-I move.
  10. Ah, the fargodome history. Those were great games that UND played in there. It's nice to see us owning TWO beautiful football buildings. I still can't believe the bison never hosted a playoff game in the fargodome. The timing for UND to go DI is right, football and womens BB are dominating DII. What was the reasoning for the bison to go DI so soon? It's not like they were dominating DII, or the NCC like UND was. Oh ya, I remember, JEALOUSY.
  11. Dan, I suppose when the bison made the jump it was all for educatuional purposes. Ya right. The bison jumped ship because it was football driven and they could not handle the tough ncc at the time. Let's see the bison did not win a conference title the past 10 years. Boy, that must have just burned you guys. How did the last game go between the two of us?
  12. I think it's a great hire. He was my choice from the start. He coached with Alford at a big time BB school. Alford played for Knight at a tradition rich school, Indiana. I like the connections this guy can bring to UND. It will be fun just to see how different UND will be. Such as half court game, different defenses, different coaching styles. This change will be good. Best of luck coach Jones.
  13. You are catching on Danny.
  14. Don't you get the humor. Hobey Baker, T.J. Oshie. T.J. Baker.
  15. I just watched the interview with Carle on espn news. He has done alright so far with the sharks. I believe he has 2 goals and 3 assists through six games. Congrats to Carle. Next year it will be T.J. BAKER.
  16. Anyone know what time the spring game starts. I remember tailgaiting at memorial last year for the game. Seemed like Dale really wanted to have that game outside last year. Why the change?
  17. The end is here. Tony pulled the plug on our UND smack topic at siouxville, I mean bisonville. It's so funny to listen to those kids over there argue about keeping our topic over there or to get rid of it. Tony felt the heat and pulled it off. I guess they won't be talking about UND anymore. Ya, right.
  18. The announcers just had Coach Hak on via the phone during intermission of the badger game. They asked hak about carrying on the FIGHTING SIOUX TRADITION after blais left. They also talked about the frozen four. Pretty neat stuff and good exposure to the best college hockey program in the country.
  19. They are so wet in their pants down in fargo that they got the gophers on there schedule. Well it's old news to UND fans in hockey and football. UND played the gophers in football in the 70's and lost one game by the score of 42-30. We also played Wisconson if FB in the 70's. Now were those games bigger than what we were doing in hockey? Of course not. UND hockey has and always will be the king in N.D. My GOD, just look at the history and the names of all the UND greats. Look at how many played pro hockey. Coach Bohl has this ego that he got when he was in Nebraska. Let's not all forgot that the coaching staff that Bohl was on in Nebraska had some problems and they were all fired. MINNESOTA and MICHIGAN are coming to THE RALPH this weekend to play games. Now does that sound pretty good or what? aa football is a small step up from DII ball, and a big leap from A ball. Who won the aa title in FB last year? That's right nobody knows or cares. Well it was apple st. I don't even know what state apple state is in. I look at the traditions between the two schools and UND does just fine in everything. Ya, the bison had a good run if FB in the Eighties. UND football had some great teams before that. UND was beating Montana St. and Montana in FB in the early 70's, but that's old news for us. Our BB program has had much better tradition that the bison. Just look at the names at UND. Phil Jackson and Jimmy Rodgers who both coached in the NBA. And now toilet BOHL wants to start something about HOCKEY, are you kidding. The jealousy in fargo is running rampant. Coach Bohl better stick to what he does best. And you know what I'm talking about.
  20. I think Mac did sign a new contract and he also said how much he loved it at UNI. They are building a new arena that will seat 7,000 jammed packed people. It's funny watching the fans at UNI. Thay have a whole section called the "MAC ATTACK" and everybody loved him there. I wonder what the fans of UNI and school officials will think of mac now. But money talks. This is another step forward for mac. I believe he was making around 200,000 and now he will be making 750,000. Is that right or did I hear that wrong?
  21. They have cancelled the show in Des Moine on thursday, so it's a safe bet the show here on saturday would be cancelled also. This is what I read on their web site. I guess some people will have to go to plan "B" which is not a bad back up plan. UND vs GOPHERS.
  22. It's nice to see St. Cloud and Augie in the other bracket. I think it will be us and Augie again on Monday night. Augie has a very nice team and are peaking at the right time. After watching the game today, I think Augie although losing to us, gained a TON of confidence. But give the UND girls credit, at crunch time our team and the help from the crowd prevailed. Can't wait to get the Betty rockin for the regional games. I think our girls are on a mission. And what's scary is that we can play better. Today, everyone chipped in at key times of the game. Mahlen hit a big three, Maffin got a big rebound, Jahner had a great hustle steal, Guinn hit a key jumper, and Langen with some big boards. We have so many weapons. This game was a good test for us and it showed we can win a big game coming from behind and keeping are composure down the stretch. Great Job girls. Keep the maching ROLLING.
  23. Dan knows that the bison BB season is over in one week so he is coming on here to get warmed up for the sioux ladies run for a title. I'm sure he will be on this site quite a bit the next couple of weeks to really see what it is like to play for something. Things are about as boring as they get right now in fargo. With the bison VB coach being let go will the same happen to amy? Or does Lynn and Amy get along better than Lynn and Zaundra?? I see they are not having anymore bison BB shows in fargo, but they do have one more women's game to be played. I think they just want to get the year over with. It shows with the cheap production of there BB shows. They don't mention some of the games they play and they don't show many highlights either. They interview the coaches in the gym with many distractions going on. One day it is the baseball team practicing in the background. Another day it is the track people running around. I even saw one time where they were riging horses, milking cows, and having a horseshoe tourney when the coaches show was going on. Wow, what excitment down there.
  24. Favorite Goalie: Iwabuchi, Belfour Favorite Defense: Patrick, ludwig, Dean "goon" Dachyshyn Favorite Forward: T. Murray, Smail, Hrkac, Joyce Most Exciting: Maxwell, Blake, Hrkac Favorite Player: Hrkac Tony Hrkac was the best college Hockey Player I have ever saw. He would just glide on his skates and float right by the opponet. He would come up with the most amazing plays you would ever see. I like the one where he banked the puck off the goalie net from behind as a player was coming after him. The player went by and the puck came right back to Tony after banking off the back off the net. Then his slap shot that would be about two inches off the ice and right bye the goalie's feet. He was simply amazing to watch. The whole circus was amazing to watch. Worst memory: Broten and Strobel coming down on a 2 on 2 in overtime at home. I told my friend at the time they were skating down the ice to go get in line and see if we can get a players stick because this game is over. We were only about 10 or 11 years old at the time. Sure enough, the puck goes back and forth and broten scores the game winner in O.T. And we never got a stick. Best memories: Looking across the ice to see the student section going crazy at home games. The gophers on the ice and sometime students on the ice. Then there was one guy who would dangle a fake scicken on a long stick in front of the opposing goalie. Does anyone remember this? And lastly, the walk over to the arena after watching B.B. There would be quite a group of people who were doing this. I think hockey games those nights started at 8:00 or 8:30.
  25. Interference call was weak. The T.D. was very close, I just wonder what made that official rule it a T.D. when you could not even tell on replay. If you watch close on that play, the official comes in and is ready to mark the ball short of the goal line with his foot and then decides to give the T.D. The holding play bothers me. How many holding calls did pitts. get called for? Seattle's big plays came back due to holding which goes on every play. I didn't see a make-up holding call against pitts. however. Holmgren must have went to the Denny Green school of clock management, the precious seconds he wasted before half time was unexcusable. All in all, I though seattle outplayed them but could not finish, and pitts. had about 3 big plays that won them the game. Can't wait until next year when the vikings are in the super bowl? HA!!! I am a big vikings fan but I have to even laugh at that.
