  1. The bad news is that 5x5 we aren’t generating offense much at all in our last 4 games (being 3 and the exhibition). One of our 2 5x5 goals tonight was an absolute fluke. Worried about playing Alaska next week, I don’t see a sweep coming for us unless we tweak the forward lines a bit to get Gaber going with someone else.
  2. Time to make some changes to these forward libes. We have regressed since november. Looking past the guys who were out tonight doesn’t matter because our Top 6 isn’t creating much at even strength. Trying the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results is insanity.
  3. I know we had illness and injuries but it seems like making some slight changes to the top 9 would have been wise after losing 3 in a row. We have to find a way to get Gaber rolling and James deserves a more offensive role. I realize Berry wanted to allow chemistry to build and didn’t want to flip flop as often as last year, but if we keep those top 2 lines intact, they will continue to struggle.
  4. I kind of wonder if he will go back to juniors for the rest of the year or if the team just has him keep practicing and getting the grades back up. Will Duluth bring in Zam Plante now if he can get signed up for classes quickly?
  5. He mentioned on the ECH podcast (I think it was that one) that he's going to be done after this year. I think you're right that he could use another year here but it seems like he's going to go find a pro paycheck somewhere. He's built for Europe so I'm guessing he makes it there eventually.
  6. Yeah he is nowhere near being able to play the pro game yet. Not when you’re a consistently a defensive liability
  7. Point to where I said they were Penrose contenders? All I said is that you are saying that we should have had this game in the bag just because we are playing a 5th-place team…in the NCHC. Clearly you’re not aware of how strong this league is so arguing with you is senseless. Should we have won the series at home? Yeah we should at least take half or more than half the points at home. But CC is better than you think they are. Which they proved. End of story
  8. Do you think we should respect a team that takes 4 of 6 points in our own barn? Or maybe just assume we should we win every game no matter what just because of their record? We were on the wrong side of pairwise points this weekend so you’re the one who incorrectly underestimated CC.
  9. Probably 5th-ish. But teams lower than that can win an NCAA bid and steal weekends
  10. Did someone say that? Or did someone say we aren’t showing a team respect? A team that has one of the best goalies in the league and a team that almost got an NCAA bid last year by getting to the frozen faceoff champ game. You’re foolish of you think this is the CC from a few years ago that we could roll over. Even when we had Sanderson and faced CC in the playoffs we had to squeak out a couple wins. They are well coached and play a very well-structured defensive game. And when you have a good goalie and play good D you can make stuff happen. Our team is very good but we don’t have D zone coverage like CC has.
  11. It’s crazy how little respect we have for a legitimately good CC team.
  12. CC is much better than their record shows. They deserved a notably better fate last weekend against Arizona state, especially Saturday
  13. Most nights that would be the case. But you also need to play the guys who are playing well in a game like that. Therefore it wasn’t the right time for him to be out there at home with a game on the line. And of course his 100th turnover of the night ended up coming back the other way and in the net. It was fitting.
  14. It was insanity to have him out there for the OT, given how he had been playing all night. I know his OT history has been good overall but he's been a liability defensively and to not have James out there on the first OT shift was a poor choice.
  15. Maybe I had my memory wires crossed, very very possible haha.
  16. Do you not remember his attitude toward the team after he left here? He was a cocky dude with disrespect for the program after he left. Whereas Bast said he has nothing but good things to say about the program, he just needed a change. I was happy to see Tychonick be done after last year. I definietely took some pleasure in knowing we were the ones to end their season last year in his final collegiate game.
  17. I will disagree a bit here because Luke Bast is a much more respectable human that Tychonick was, IMO. It is funny though because if Bast would have stayed he probably would have started with a regular lineup spot since everyone else left. But in hindsight it works out better because these freshmen are getting reps, proving themselves already, and seem to have a higher ceiling.
  18. This exact idea is another reason why I think seeing BU in April would be as terrifying as seeing Minnesota. Everyone on that young team will be better by then. Celebrini has only been playing college puck for 4 weeks and has more than a point per game. I don't want to see him when it's been 5 months worth... But then again I think Justen Close is more likely to steal a game for MN that Caron is for BU.
  19. Love these lines except Emerson is not ready for this series. Fully agree he needs to develop but it needs to be against a team that has less offensive skill because he’s struggled defensively with the few reps he’s had.
  20. I thought 10.99 for 2 games with a high quality feed was totally worth it so I got it.
  21. Some games get archived and others don't. Not sure how they determine which full games get archived, sometimes it just seems to be a fluke if the whole game isn't there. They even used to have condensed versions of games but I don't think that's available anymore.
  22. Was it Adam Wodon? Seems up his alley.
  23. Wow. Can we give the coaching staff a huuuuuge stick tap? 3 freshman defensemen in and we hold them to less than 25 shots and only took 2 penalties. I was wrong but very happy about the results
  24. 3 freshman D against the best top to bottom offense in the country =scary. Pehrson is the guy who has the most experience against the gophs so having him out is rough. Guessing we lose by 3+ tonight but honestly a little adversity right now will get this team rolling later. Having these freshman play big roles against a team like this is massive for development so I say bring it on. Getting swept at home would stink, especially since home losses are a bigger pairwise hit, but losing to the number 1 team in the country in week 2 isn’t the end. Really hope I’m wrong on the prediction but either way this team is going to be really good come late November.
  25. I would love to see James on the 2nd line wing, he’s ready. And yeah Schmaltz is not a top 6 guy with the talent we have but Berry will never in a million years put schmaltz as the extra skater. Either way I think we need to see Ness tonight. Not a great faceoff guy but steady defensively, good with puck possession and can be opportunistic offensively.
