  1. With the speed of the game in Lawson, who do you take out of the lineup for him? Portz has wheels and Albrecht has size and proven himself defensively. Ness has had a decent run lately with a few goals but I guess you could take him out and put strinden at center since he brings size too. Just not sure if 21 is ready for the pace of this evening because it’s going to be wild. Although id rather see Farmer healthy and strinden in and Moore out since he’s frequently a liability haha
  2. Bringing a forward in at this point in the season would make things even worse. These guys need to figure it out with the team they’ve got. Great get for the coaching staff here to build for next year.
  3. This made me actually lol. Bravo
  4. Except he has been constantly saying in articles and on podcasts that UND has been losing games in the 3rd period that were within reach. Just listened to the rink love podcast from this week where mentioned UND has to figure out how to keep the puck out of the bet and are 58th in save percentage in the country .
  5. I have been thinking/fearing the same thing
  6. Oh wow, you're right. I'm a dummy. I seriously forgot about Judd in my brain's lineup. Not sure if I should read into that or not but then again DeRidder has more points than he does
  7. With us having so many forwards out injured this weekend, will they play Brent Johnson up as a forward (right wing) on one of the bottom 6 lines? Or Cooper Moore? Or maybe they just double shift forwards to play the other wing on the 4th line all weekend. Interested to see how they play that.
  8. I agree that the losses so far aren't the problem, it's the way we have lost and lack of offensive chances in those games that have been problematic (and losing leads in 5 straight games). I'm ok with not getting a sweep this weekend, although that would be terrific and a great way to get out of the slump. Give me a split where we play well enough in both games to potentially win and I'll be happy as a clam. As long as we are continually improving and in both ends of the ice, this team has upside. Methinks Deridder starts. Deridder has been to good to not play so until he plays himself out of the net, it's all him. Not that this matters now but the last time Hellsten started in Omaha he delivered a big pizza to an UNO forward that ended up in our net and led the way to a Saturday win in Omaha. That game was a bummer because is resulted in us having to share the Penrose with Denver instead of winning outright and knocked us down to 2nd seed for playoffs.
  9. Very well played
  10. Dude I put that we would likely win between 1-4 games, didn't say we'd for sure win the whole thing but ok I should have put 0-4. I was giving Berry the benefit of the doubt. Simma donna I also said the coaches need to make some changes, NOT that we need to make a coaching change. That message was more of a propping up of Hak than anything. I was never on the Fire Hak train.
  11. Hak made it to 7 frozen fours in 11 years. Hak's teams never missed the NCAA tourney, not once. Also during the 11 years at the helm no D-1 team won more games than we did. We have 1 NCAA win since our natty (although we probably would have won somewhere between 1-4 in 2020 that got cancelled). We rarely if ever got swept at home under Hak. I'm not a Berry hater, nor am I saying we should fire him. But Hak's track record for making and having success in the tourney was better. Keep in mind we had a few NCAA frozen four games where we were the much better team and lost because hockey is hockey. Some of the games we've seen lately have included us getting fewer than 20 shots in regulation in 3 straight games. That's a problem. I still think we get better because we are too good on paper to not come along but the coaches need to make some huge changes.
  12. I texted this exact same thing to a buddy at the game
  13. I hope ASU plays their Ness too because he’s only played 2 games so far and doesn’t seem high on the depth chart. Seems like a good time to get his feet wet
  14. I'm fine with Judd in the lineup. But he should be a 4th liner/bottom 6 every night. No more trying to force him into a top 6 role, he just isn't meant for that type of offensive role.
  15. I was at the game and thought the Thomas hit looked bad and worthy of review. I have (gopher fan) buddy who saw live from a different angle that thought the call was weak. Methinks I’m right but wondering if anyone has a replay so I have video evidence to plead my case.
  16. Fully agree. Even if we get swept this weekend I won't be worried big picture. Getting swept on the road by a top team is not a pairwise crusher. Plus it will help us learn a lot about ourselves and will give us more information about how we should play in our own zone. I'm not so sure we will like the immediate results this weekend (but praying I'm wrong). But I think that once we get some consistency with forward lines and chemistry along with learning how to track the proper guys in our D zone, nobody is going to want to play us. Also guessing that DeRidder will soon be taking the throne and will start to gel well with the D corp and steal a game here and there for us. Either way I'm guessing Deridder plays both games this weekend to keep us in it.
  17. I'll be at both games this weekend. The results I want and the results I'm guessing will happen are 2 different things haha. I'm guessing 5-2 gophers tonight with our D zone issues being extrapolated on the olympic sheet. Hoping for 5-0 in our favor
  18. I thought Albrecht brought his A game Saturday night and it seems like he deserves to stay in the lineup until he screws up enough. I didn't think they would put Costantini as 4th line center but he played incredibly well as center so I am interested to see if he stays on a line with Albrecht due to their chemistry. Also if anyone has a bowl of crow for me to eat, I was completely wrong about the Hain-Jammer-Senden line because I thought they would break it up and dang that line was just stellar all weekend. So let's keep them together (shame on me for feeling otherwise). But can we please put Blake on a line with Gaber and Keep #28 away from Gaber's line? It didn't work in the playoffs last year and hardly any offense was generated by that line on Saturday this past weekend. Gaber needs a change and they seemed destined to keep him with Schmaltz which is cool but the other wing should be a high-skill guy like Blake (or maybe even James just to shake it up)? Wondering what others' thoughts are regarding who you think should slot in with Gaber.
  19. Ugh that 2008 F4 was the first ever frozen 4 I went to….but then 2011 was the 2nd one which was so much worse on the heart. It’s still a deep burn
  20. Gaber had one shot on goal tonight. They’ve got to put someone else on that top line with Gaber and schmaltz. I’d love to see Blake there. Costantini had a solid night on the faceoff dot tonight. Interested to see if he plays wing or center moving forward
  21. They dominated us in the shots department when we played out there last year. I think we will struggle to score on them next weekend but I’ll be happy if we split again since they will likely be a top-10 team all year
  22. They did it a few years ago too (it was the 2018 series on GF) and it was worth listening to. Good on them for inviting the opposing team’s beat writer more than once. I won’t miss an opportunity to hear schloss talk about our team and a big upcoming series.
  23. Moore needs to replace Jandric on the power play as Moore has a higher upside offensively. Jandric has great poise up high but he just can’t move as quickly with the puck as Moore.
