  1. Big chance to get two games today with who we have going on the hill and St. Louis with a couple scrubs. Big Mike going 7 and Stashak coming back leaves everyone available today. Only 17 games left. Rocco has got to pay attention here. The Twins are currently the 7th seed and the first wild card team heading to Cleveland the first round. They are only a game back of Cleveland and Chicago with Cleveland showing up on Friday with Bieber on the hill. So important to be at home in the playoffs.
  2. Alright, wanted 4-1 vs. Detroit so I'll be happy they got it. Weird homestand. Could of swept Chicago, could have swept Detroit, then again they could of easily went 2-3 against Detroit. Quick trip to St. Louis before two off days. Throw the sink at the cards tomorrow.
  3. I'm lost on Rocco. Guy that is so about the statistics and playing percentages. Then when it comes to bullpen decisions in a close game in the 8th you have Smeltzer in to pitch. Fine, he hasn't gone in a while. Schoop makes him pay, Rosario is stupid.....Cabrera up.....open base.....we are really letting our worst lefty pitch to a future hall of famer with a base open? We shift, leave whole areas of the field open, leadoff with Sano, rarely hit and run....but don't put guys on.
  4. Smeltzer is meat. He should only pitch when its 4 or more runs either way. Rosario is Rosario. Why Rocco doesn't put flipping Cabrera on base with a base open.....doesn't need to even be held on because he can't run. Let him hit and he drives in runs.
  5. IMHO a better idea would have been going with four or even five game series between teams for every series. Then give teams a day off to move/clean/safely travel, then start up another one. Rotating through all the teams in division and geographically close by and spreading out head to head match-ups. The Twins going to St. Louis for one day to play a double header whether you are a social distancing person or not doesn't make any sense.
  6. Another win. Quickly have won 5 in a row. Coming back twice the last two. Alcala may be ready to start here soon. If he can keep his breaking ball down and locate 98 on the corners at the top of the zone he can stay around the bigs.
  7. Come on lineup....two hits through 6 innings? Guy has a 6 ERA to start the game.... Hopefully Clippard can clean up....
  8. Woof......boy does Sano go on streaks.....
  9. Quick win in game 1. Regroup and get two today.
  10. Astudillo is back up with the club today. Kepler to the IL. And one of the young outfield products finally gets called up. Not the one everyone wants, but it'll be nice to see what Rooker can do. Thinking that Willans catches game two.....stay tuned.
  11. Alright. Detroit for five games..... We almost got healthy.....then we didn't. Let's go 4-1 in this stretch. Likely no Arraez tomorrow or Kepler for the double header. 1. Polanco-SS. 2. Donaldson-3B. 3. Cruz-DH 4. Eddie-LF 5. Sano-1B. 6. Adrianza 2B. 7. Marwin-RF 8. Buck-CF 9. Jeff -C. Dobnak on the mound. Rested bully.....momentum might be back. Get two wins tomorrow.
  12. And they put on a show. Great for ND football.
  13. Matt Wisler perhaps getting a save opportunity here. On a side note Sano hitting lead off was a great way to add some humor to the group. Rocco always one to add some humor. Hey maybe it worked?
  14. What gets me is Mr. Play the numbers Baldelli.....guy plays most of the game with his 2nd baseman on the left field side of 2nd base yet when the game is on the line you bring in the lefty to face a slew of tough righties..... The Kepler crap can't happen.....can't.
  15. Rocco with zero clue with the club right now. Its getting into Gardenhire territory with the misuse of the bullpen. Doesn't help when your well paid right fielder pulls little league crap.
  16. The White Sox have great young talent.....the Tigers have great young talent, the Indians are trading for great young talent and have tons of pitching in the stable. And KC just beats the Twins because they have guys like Soler, Dozier, and Perez who kill the Twins. At some point it'd be nice to see a starting pitching product within the organization be able to come up and contribute. I'm ready to cut the cord with Berrios.
  17. That road trip was "Gardy esk". No emotion, pitching wasn't great, and they score two or less runs most of the time.
  18. What a go through the motions last week for the Twins. The one game they won in Cleveland they probably didn't deserve to win either. The approach at the plate in Detroit was terrible. Great example is Marwin jumping on the first pitch in the 9th inning off the new guy in for Detroit. Take a few pitches and give everyone a peak. The best at bat came from a rookie that last inning that took pitches and worked ahead. They aren't trading for anyone so they'd better hope big Mike and Donaldson can contribute if they join the squad.
  19. Interesting for the Twins today. Do you use Maeda in game two or save him for Sunday and go bullpen in game 2 today?
  20. And now a rainout. Doubleheader on Saturday, one game Sunday, and then one of the games to be made up in Minnesota. 2020.....sigh.....
  21. Tonight's game against Detroit is postponed. Double header tomorrow starting at noon. Dobnak starts game 1.
  22. Its takes a global pandemic to get regionals to campus sites huh?
  23. True, but you can't bubble college athletes traveling to different states. I watched a video of Nick Foligno and his day in the bubble in Toronto or Vancouver. That just doesn't seem like something that is feasible for the college game. (Someone plllllease prove me wrong)
  24. Always the pessimist here (married now for ten years).....students on campus soon. College football has hit the chopping block as many conferences calling it until possibly spring at the earliest. Winter sports next.....Cornell punted....Big Ten likely next.....Hockey East..... Anybody got something positive for me to show the winter season has a chance????
  25. I can't see Miami/Western kicking all the fall sports then letting hockey happen. Sigh.....
