Problem with the offense has been turnovers and play calling in short yardage.. 1 INT first 7 games.. 8 INT in the last 5.. add in fumbles as well. Offense has been putting the D in bad situations. Clean it up and we win at least 2 if not all 3 of the games we lost out of the last 4 im excited for the game Saturday.. chip and a chair.. bracket sets up nice for UND.. just wish the Saturday game was a little easier to get to,

Get back on topic.. can’t even enjoy backing into the FOOTBALL playoffs based on good losses and SOS without people complaining about hockey donors.

I believe feeney was the better qb last year and would have been this year as well. in all fairness.. im happy he didn’t play for us last year.. likely would have gone 7-5.. made the playoffs and we would still have bubba. It was time for a change and feeney not playing helped it happen in my book.

OC looks a lot better when the QB isn’t airmailing wide open receivers.. OC play calling was pretty baffling at times.. particularly inside the 5 yd line and other short yardage. difference between first half of the season Jerry and second half of the season Jerry was substantial.. I’m hoping we sneak into the playoffs and recover our mojo.

I would be happy with another game. Team is frustrating but fun to watch and the team needs every game now to be better for the future. 2nd half of the year Jerry is not the answer.. need first half of the year Jerry to return. Romfo > (2nd half Jerry) defense will continue to get better in future years man this game was hard to watch.. another game that should have been won. bubba coaching this team would have been 5-7.. maybe 4-8 romfo also would have been 7-5 also or better. the crowd wasn’t nearly as dead as the haters on here would have you believe.

Is the new kicker better than the old?

A big reason they looked horrible is because of und defense.. give them some credit. offense / OC and kicking game needs to step up… biggest issues of the game were * not running the ball at the 2 yd line.. from my view that 3 down sequence was .. good defense.. uncalled PI.. bad throw.. should have been 3 runs. * missed chipshot FG.. basically an xp * lack of a consistent really short yardage play. I hate 4th and short from the pistol.

I want to make the playoffs if we are 7-5 or 8-4.. schmitfy is building something special. One of the reasons ndsu is better is they get 3+ more games a year and all of the incremental practices.. U.N.D. needs that.

After watching Quincy dominate every short yardage situation for the last 3 years.. I’m baffled by UND not implementing a similar set this year. If we have the QV short yardage plays.. we punch in a touchdown and easily make the 4th and 1. Also.. FG unit.. woof.. not sure if it was the kicker or the holder but good lord.. should have been a win yesterday.. no question.. d is the real deal

way to use the all teams in D1 SOS.. Massey - UND 9th / NDSU 24th see how fun this is? Are u really trying to argue that the citadel / Tennessee st/ SE Missouri / st Thomas are good teams or that any of those are better than K-state and Montana? NDSU is a good team this year.. but they also started the season 4-0. Indiana state beating SDSU at SDSU takes a lot of shine off the NDSU victory at SDSU IMO.

Defense played well except for being a wet paper bag at the end of the 2nd quarter.. offense really struggled and Jerry took some big hits and missed a lot of open receivers. Seems like a tough kid.. not sure how sustainable it is to have him run the ball 10+ times a game. Both teams with 10+ penalties.. USD clearly wanted to turn it into a rock fight and they were successful. All of that being said.. still should have won that game.. played our worst game all year and still should have won.

Stay on task.. question was NDSU SOS.. comment was.. “4 cupcake non conference games” and a tough mvfc schedule like every one else. UND would be 8-1 with NDSU schedule as apparently we still can’t beat USD on the road. NDSU might still be 9-0 with UND schedule but there is no question UNDs schedule is much tougher.

NDSU has an absolute cupcake non conference schedule.. I don’t think you can argue otherwise. Their MVFC schedule is as tough as anybody else’s.. they really caught a break with sdsu qb injured but still destroyed them.

Listening to coach berg and the 360 fellas chat about the change this year in this weeks podcast is enlightening. Highly recommend

Relentless pursuit of continuous improvement

Another big improvement this year has been the continued development of Isaac fruechte.. I’m hoping to see a lot of handing off and letting the North Dakota moving company control the game. Should look like the Saluki game. one of my biggest complaints last year and during the Danny freund era was lack of willingness to do the easy thing. All the trick plays and forcing passes against teams that we would have crushed just by running the ball. I am still looking for the Q short yardage replacement play. if we continue the trend of last week I expect 400 yds rushing and an easy win. If we forget that.. maybe we will have another OT shootout.

Correct.. for all the hate romfo gets from a few.. offense wasn’t even close to the biggest problem last year.. defense was a dumpster fire. While I still believe Jerry or feeney would have been better last year. The improvement in defense and Eric schmidt is what has made this team a top 10 team

5-2 in 2025.. feels quite a bit different than 5-2 in 2024

The defense makes und football watchable this year

Most of the things people are complaining about are just organization and attention to detail.. the intro is as bad as it’s ever been.. I’m a little tired of complaining about it.. go to a und hockey game.. an ndsu football game.. I’m not sure why the Mickey Mouse crap is tolerated at the und football game. I mean it when I say Davies high school does a better job. I’m in full support of the drone / top gun / aviation idea. they have stepped it up a bit on the clothing available for purchase side of things.. but still pretty mediocre.. Coors lites are always cold inside so no complaints there either. the alerus itself is a good place to watch football.. exiting the parking lot is the worst part.. other then that. No real complaints on my side.
