  1. Hayduke, First of all, nice personal attack . Secondly, I'm the one who is defending athletes who compete in their sports and the division they play in, you however are dissing the athletes that don't play in the highest level of a sport the school offers (hockey). I like how you did not answer the question on asking the non hockey athletes that their current Championships or future championships don't matter beacuse they were won in a sport that is not at the highest level.
  2. Would you tell UND'S football team or the Women Basketball team or any non hockey sport at UND that their current Championships they have won or future Championships they might win don't/won't matter because it wasn't won at the highest level. If you do tell them please let me know because I would love to see what they have to say.
  3. Your right Football is the main sport at NDSU just like hockey is the main sport at UND.
  4. 11,000 show up now because they are winning. History shows (early 90's) if they have some bad years the fans stay away. Like I said, Grand Forks, Fargo, Mpls, Chicago, Boston, and every other city are fair weather towns. Chicago is a good example. In the middle 2000's the Blackhawks were playing to half empty stadium crowds because they were not a good team but now since the team is winning the place is packed.
  5. As for Fargo being a frontrunner town, they are no different than any other city. When you win people show up, when you lose people don't. I remember going to UND hockey games in the early 90's and their was maybe 3,000 people at the games which made the arena half full.
  6. Out of curiousity how many overall National titles in all sports does UND have?
  7. You might want to ask the Athletes at UND ( except the hockey players) if they feel the same way you do about not winning Championships at the highest level considering every sport at UND (except hockey) plays at the same level as NDSU.
  8. Patrick Reusse was the sports writer that referred to the Gophers as the "New York Yankees of college hockey" What he said he meant by that was either you like the Gophers or you hate the Gophers just like people feel about the Yankees.
  9. Yeah right, Lucia is chicken of playing UND, a team he has beaten 5 out of the last 7 times they have played
  10. NCAA hockey may have started in 1948 but college hockey started before that. If the NCAA went away and was replaced by another organization does that mean all NCAA records go away?
  11. Does anyone know why in the North Dakota history book the overall win/lost record against Minnesota is 130-137-14 but in the Minnesota record book it shows 130-144-14. Why is there a seven game descrepency?
  12. Can you please give examples on how Minnesota was not suportive to the other DI Minnesota schools. Even Bale31, a Mankato fan, says that Minnesota was supportive to Mankato.
  13. Your right, Minnesota fans will cheer when Zach scores for the the Wild because he plays for the Wild not UND. Just like UND fans cheer for Mitch MacMillan now since he plays for UND not Saint Cloud State. Point is who cares who their previous team was, it is their current team they play for is all that matters.
  14. At a blueline luncheon a few years ago Hakstol was asked about his fight with Ben Hankinson. He said "I got a few licks in on Ben and he got a few licks in on me, it was pretty much a draw, when we see each other now we laugh about it". They seem like they are pretty good friends . So, I guess Hakstol's interpretation is a little bit different from you saying "Hak schooled Ben Hankinson".
  15. You do realize schedules are made two years in advanced. When Minnesota and Notre Dame agreed to their schedule agreement Mario had NOT yet committed to play at Notre Dame.
  16. You may think their is not a disadvantage from going from an olympic size sheet to an NHL size sheet but your own coach thinks different. At a Gopher blueline luncheon he spoke at a few years ago he mentioned how much of a disadvantage it is going from a NHL size rink to an Olympic size rink.( for the final five its just the opposite for the Gophers). He was saying the angles are different for the goalies, more of a skating game because of the dimentions, he said how quick teams adjust to the dimentions is the key. Most teams practice at their olympic rink ( if they have one) when they play on the road at an Olympic size rink and visa vera if their home rink is Olympic and they will be playing on a NHL size rink. As for the poster who said the Gophers don't stay at a hotel, this is not true, all teams stay at designated hotels during the Final five. The Minnesota rule has been compained about for years among fans. But the bottom line is EVERY athletic director in the wcha votes on this rule to let Minnesota play the night game because each schools wants the maximum revenue from the gate. So, if people want to say this is an advantage for the Gophers they can blaim their own AD. Finally, When it comes to regional sites, every school can put a bid and as we all know the NCAA is all about money so naturally they will go with the highest bidder. I know they are staying away from campus rinks but if UND wants a regional closest to Grand Forks ( because there is not a arena off campus in GF that could host a regional) they could put a bid in to be the host school at the XCEL just like Michigan Tech does when they are the host school when it is in Green Bay.
  17. Can you please explain what these "home field advantages" are that the Gophers get more than any other team.
  18. Your right, the Big Ten has rules ( Bylaws) and they could have changed them BUT they didn't thus Minnesota and Wisconsin had no choice but to join the Big Ten hockey conference. Minnesota's AD ( Maturi) is on record saying he didn't want to join the Big Ten hockey conference but as a member of the Big Ten he had no choice. Wisconsin's AD ( Alvarez) on the other hand was full in favor of Wisconsin joining the Big Ten hockey conference.
  19. Tickets have been sold.
  20. Saturday tickets have ben sold, Sunday tickets still available ( $100 for the pair ) face value.
  21. I have two West Regional tickets for sale. The seats are located in Section 102, Row 16. The tickets include both semi- final games on saturday and the Championship game on sunday. Asking face value for the set ($200). I can also sell both tickets for the saurday games only if somebody doesn't want to buy the entire strip ($100). Tickets are in the Twin Cities. PM me if interested.
  22. Moorhead high used to recruit in the day ( not sure if they still do or not). If a catholic kid grew up in Moorhead and went to Catholic grade school in Moorhead and then went onto Fargo Shanley, the Moorhead coaches would talk to the Parents of the kid and try to get them to switch to Moorhead high. This happened to a few of my friends that went to Fargo Shanley but were from Moorhead. The fact is in alot of cases when it comes to kids going to private schools, it is the Parents who recruit the private schools NOT the private schools recruiting the kids. Private schools get accused of recruiting but since open enrollment emerged public schools are no different. ( Elk River hockey, Hopkins bball, Apple Valley wrestling, warroad etc..)
  23. It would have been nice if SiouxForever stated it that way but he didn't. It looked like he was implying 13,000 fans come down from Grand Forks. I agree when I hear Sioux fans travel well to the Final Five, it's just they travel from Burnsville, Shakopee, Blaine, etc. to get to St. Paul. There is alot of UND alumni that live in the cities. Before anybody gets all upset, I do realize people from Grand Forks also travel to St. Paul for the final Five
  24. Curious on where you think these 13,000 Sioux fans come down from.
  25. Why would it matter who they beat for those titles. the fact is is they are national titles. It is not Minnesota's fault they won those titles before the NCAA was around.
