  1. I have DirecTV, and what Sprig said is correct. Live FCS events will be on channels 617, 623, and I think occasionally 625.
  2. No problem, and I wasn't offended. I just thought the University should get a little credit where due - I think the fact that the Ralph posts the satellite coordinates every year means they are aware of a number of viewers with FTA systems and they try to accommodate them as best they can. I have no idea what the contract with FCS states, but I would think that as long as they post the coordinates they're not trying to keep the feed off-limits (at least until someone blind-scans it and posts it!).
  3. I don't think it's a coincidence, because I can see where they would want this busiess deal to be effective for both parties involved (UND & FCS). Having less people able to pluck the feed with FTA satellite means more potential customers from the FCS side to make the deal worth-while. It sucks for those of us with FTA systems, but UND sports reaches a larger audience with the national FCS deal, thus providing benefit to the university.
  4. I've had a FTA for the past couple years and I've loved it! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch a single game on it this year. Fortunately, thought, I have DirecTV and can get them on FCS. Now...to complain about the Ralph or UND being disloyal to the fans because of the low signal is a bit unfair. Tell me...how many of us are now able to watch our teams across the country on more "mainstream" cable and satellite systems because of the contract they signed with FCS to carry the games? I'd say the university has taken greater steps toward fan loyalty than away from it. Sure, it isn't "free," but this is the type of exposure most of us fans have been clamoring for. It sucks to lose the FTA option, but our options for watching Sioux sports on something other than local cable is far more that I had ever hoped for at this point.
  5. Fasching Article This was a pretty good read and it puts a lot of things in perspective. Who'd blame this kid if he wanted to stay close to home and play college hockey? I sure wouldn't.
  6. I don't think people are advocating texting and driving. They're just pointing out that simply passing a law against it doesn't necessarily deter the behavior. Have you ever driven above the speed limit? Have you ever eaten while driving? How is that any less distracting than texting?
  7. I have found tickets...thanks to those who replied!
  8. Looking for 4 tickets (together) for this Saturday, lower bowl preferred. PM or e-mail me at: sstanislowski@msn.com if you have tickets available. Thanks! Jake
  9. I think the "they" we have to be more concerned with are the WCHA officials, not the Sioux coaches if that's what you're hinting at.
  10. I understand you don't like the nickname "Roughriders," but if your opinion is in the minority your argument of kids choosing to come here because of the popularity of the nickname works against you.

    SIOUX @ MSU

It's been a few years since I've made the 'kato trip, but we used to go to McGoff's for pregame festivities. I thought I heard they shut down, though.
  12. It's fun to watch the students "interact" with the fellows in the penalty box, too.
  13. Can you name me a goalie that can differentiate between a shot that's going to hit the crossbar/post and one that's going to go into the net? They try to stop BOTH; therefore they have been BEATEN!!!
  14. I couldn't get it, either...NW metro area. Would rather watch on FTA due to superior picture, but I guess I'll settle for DirecTV...
  15. I'm guessing Saturday's will be FSSN as well, since I haven't heard of anyone else producing the game. Channel 625 may be listed as a BTN alternate channel, but I think DirecTV can assign it to a number of feeds. Maybe 617 and 623 are both in use at the same time? I haven't checked my guide lately...
  16. What problem are you referring to? All home games will be live on DirecTV ch. 617 if you subscribe to the Sports Pack.
  17. Hopefully we've already had our fill of humble pie!
  18. Gosh, you'd think it was late March around here... It's upsetting to get swept, but I'm trying to keep some perspective in all this. We're only three weeks into the season. Chalk up the lessons learned and move on. Not everyone starts fast; not everyone takes three straight road trips (one to AK) to start the season. Sure, these games were critical for PWR, but we're not going to need that after we win the WCHA! I have faith they'll put it together and be playing well when it counts FIVE months from now. How can they not? This is the last season as the FIGHTING Sioux. Enjoy it.
  19. ^ This.
  20. Lapoint watching the puck again, just like the first goal.
  21. Too easy to blame the goalies (except for the bonehead puck plays). There are breakdowns everywhere. The first goal of the game started the trend. I'm just hoping they can put something together and finish strong....Oops...guess not.
  22. Tough to pick out a single guy, but I'm not impressed with Lapoint tonight.
  23. They're just standing around watching.
  24. They need to do the opposite IMO. They need to pick up their pace A LOT and get their feet moving. A little bit of brains wouldn't hurt right now, either - especially on D.
  25. Weak play by Dell.
