I don’t know why anyone would want to read between the lines of a quote by a 20 year old trying to justify their decision to leave a program with the history of a North Dakota. He’s a kid. He wants to play. Let him be.

You make a really good point here. If I am some guy, and I don't want to lose my scholarship unless I can go to 'x' university, I would be on the spot if they weren't interested, and, I might be WAY worse off than if I had just sat back and stayed. I still hate the portal. I also hate the covid year. Did I mention that I hated the portal?

I cannot wait for the *extra covid year* to be in the rearview mirror. I think it kills recruiting and the teams that minimize the use of it will come out much better in the end. It feeds the portal, and that need to be better managed as well. I said it before. NEW RULE: you cannot enter the portal without a one year penalty after your Sophomore year. Done next...

Your head is in the sand, that’s all NIL is, pay for play. It was a violation to buy a kid dinners, now they can buy them the restaurant! That Dylan Raiola kid is going from team to team pushing their boosters to up the ante week by week. The agents and lawyers are having a field day. Hasn’t taken a snap in NCAA football yet.

But what if it’s just ‘infiltration’ prior to the take over?

I also believe all of the BS restraint rules about attending a Major Junior camp, practice or signing (though playing less than 10 games) should be waived as well. Kids should be able to see both sides before the NCAA slams the door…

I believe that a player should get 1 move, completely unencumbered, to any school - as long as it takes place prior to the junior year. The ONLY exceptions to this would be a change of coaching or a personal matter that can not be resolved any other way.
