We didn’t play 60 minutes!

Ok, that was unnecessary!

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

It’s because of the pressure being put on by the fan base. I believe there is very little room for development at that position. Must. When. Now. No mistakes allowed! -
2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
BusinessSiouxt replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Could it be that the stress of expectations on North Dakota is too much for some? It would honestly be understandable. Think about how those kids feel before every game and after every loss. -
For me, there’s more to it than that. I think serious fans in general wanna see their team develop over time. One and dones don’t do that.. It’s not necessarily a bad thing when you had one or maybe two for experience or a position need, but when you start loading up 4,5, 6 of them, it gets old. It also kind of hurt your recruiting, because kids see that their opportunities to play dwindle with the addition of juniors and seniors. Kids, especially high-end kids, want to see a path to the lineup.

On one topic we lament ‘rentals’ on others we drool at what might be. Kind of kissing you wife on the way to the strip joint…

Turn out the lights as you exit the tournament…

1. Denver is a very young team that has since developed. 2. Both omaha and cc have been on a development curve (omaha for 7 years, cc for 2). They are solid teams now. 3. BB has not failed in my opinion, what has changed has the NCAA competitive curve. We haven’t gotten worse, “they” got better. There are *more* good players today, development is growing.

The portal has changed all of that. Players buying in and going the extra mile is no longer the rule. Brotherhood is an exception.
-
But in each case, the skill team is relied on “puck luck“ to win the game. OK, exception is Boston College, but Isn’t it always?

Cuz of our weight.

I believe I said “clean physical game”. This in and of itself is a skill.
-
I’m of the opinion anyone that brings a clean physical game will knock them off their pedestal. Those hockey east teams don’t like to hit. They particularly don’t like to get hit.

And lastly, though the game view experience at the Denny Sanford Premier Center was great, the food and movement options, as well as the bathroom options were awful…

Was NOT impressed with BU. And, I thought it was the Mavs game. Outplayed the rodents for long stretches, made some very costly mistakes. Especially the second goal. I had just stated to my wife ‘can’t do that!’ (On the failure behind the net) and *boom* in the back of the net!!!

Maryland Heights Regional -- UND vs Mich & MSU vs WMU

Agree, that’s why Blaise lost the room (and the momentum) in Omaha. -

Famous (or infamous) last words. This is the regional that poor efforts go to die in. For all the talk about whether they’ve got the skill versus previous teams, the size versus their competition and their desire, the only thing that matters is can they put together 60 minutes of shut down defense and take advantage of offensive opportunities when they present themselves? Yeah, yeah ‘speed kills’ and all that, but not at the expense of sound decision making. Go Sioux! -

Just got done watching the Big Ten championship game between Michigan and Michigan State. The boy had better put on their big boy pants. Both teams hit like Mack trucks. -

“At one point”. You have to remember that several of the teams we played early in the season were young. Now the freshman are de facto sophomores. Teams adjust, good teams adjust well. Life in the fast Lane baby! -

I don’t know, in my opinion every goaltender should prepare mentally to play every game. Injuries, cold starts, the yips and everything else that can happen might happen!
